Thanks for saying “if you are a long term investor” you have a great buying opportunity. Lots of persons fail to make that qualification. If you are not a long term investor and want your money, in the next 3-5 years, caution is warranted. We all know you can’t time the bottom, but it is pretty clear we are not going to all time highs this year.

I was in the same boat, skip to 30 years later things are great! Live modestly and build wealth as you go. Trust the Lord with your finances and future. Find ways to learn to do stuff yourself like cutting hair, doing your own brows, nails, groom my own dog. I cooked all the time. I sell stuff on ebay I find at garage sales. That's something you can do with a baby, and it's fun! Congrats on your new baby!! God bless

The rule I follow is... time in the market beats timing the market. I'm going to do nothing different than what I have been doing up to now.

For the newbies out there... I'd rather buy VGT at 0.10% exp ratio vs QQQ at 0.20% exp ratio (it is basically the same thing but 2x cheaper).

There are some small differences. VGT is slightly more top heavy and slightly more overweight in the tech sector. Personally I use QQQM, which is the same thing as QQQ but has a .15% expense ratio instead of .2%, but VGT is still a great choice.

Except for JAPAN! Japan is 30 years down from its all time stock market height. If you bought in 1990 you would still be down 30% if you dollar cost averaged you would be loosing to inflation. The US stock Market can do the same. Also buy International Funds. You never know what the US will do in the future.

Each week I'm adding some to Walmart, CVS, Exxon, Google, Amazon, Iron Mountain, VTI, SCHD, and VIG. Google and Amazon I've had my eye on since they split. But even more so in this bear market. Since my goal is retirement in 5 years, this timing couldn't be better as I can buy all things like Amazon and Google while they are low and hopefully get some big gains. I know these are older videos of yours but I've been adding to betterment and acorns. Did you guys ever do a video determining which one was better?

Hope the market goes down more and stays that way for a couple years. Perfect buying opportunity at just the right time for me as I finish off some debt and am increasing my investments in preparation for a retirement in about 4 years. One of the best ways to amass wealth is to defy human nature. Don't panic and sell when the market is down, that's when you double down and put in more. You can't buy low and sell high if you let emotions get in the way.

The stock market has been reacting to inflation and the increasing interest rates thus far. Company earnings have been largely unaffected, consumer spending has also not significantly changed, however that is all about to change in the next few months. Consumers are starting to hit the breaks, this, combined with higher interest rates is going to result in lower earnings. Once earnings drop, and they will, combined with continued interest rate increases, the market I expect will drop even further. Once the Fed reverses course on interest rates, the cash will come crashing in, but that is still many months away.

Hey there Kevin! We actually invest in both and there is a lot of overlap. Because VOO is Vanguard's S&P 500 ETF and because VTI is a capitalization-weighted ETF, VTI and VOO end up being very similar. :)
