Aristotle also believed in the power of routine but unlike the Stoics, he thought that habituation could only be successfully achieved in childhood. As for creativity, Kobe Bryant had a great outlook on this topic, he stated that creativity is obtained when there is structure otherwise you're just aiming pointlessly with no clear goal. When there is some kind of structure you can be free to be creative within the framework of that structure while having a clear objective.

@@paulpaul8221 I mean.....why are you crediting that to Kobe Bryant. First, the small amount of creativity that is present in sports obviously come from the rules because they are playing a game. Second, that idea is not a new one. I am sure literally thousands of professors have said it about the Shakespearean sonnet long before Kobe was born.

The subconscious houses the bulk of the brain's activity, accessing the subconscious promotes our greatest insights. Relaxing promotes accessing the subconscious, routine promotes relaxing, or at least promotes "mindless" activity towards the details to 1. Free up the mind to focus on what matters and 2. Relax areas of the mind to knock around ideas and come up with creative solutions or make innovative connections. I like the idea of being actively anti-superstitious, by changing things up as soon as it seems like one could argue a causal relationship between something unimportant like your socks and something important like your athletic ability. I wonder what connections and contrasts exist here with the concept of "alter-ego" and environment priming.

Guys, One of the biggest advice Seneca gave was not to be involved in politics. We can now clearly see Ryan's invoking a certain politician for no reason has put off some other people who would be otherwise receptive of the message. I implore you to overlook his personal bias and try to go out with the key takeaway of the video. Which is a Powerful Routine can change your life for the better.
