I think they should pull the trigger on the trade. He is young and has room to improve. Cheaper than Dean so that’s great. Still need a pass rusher and ILB.
@kenilluminati11 күн бұрын
Maybe under better coaching that Bowles will provide and he could improve drastically. I hope we get just for his upside potential.
@GetBigOrDieTrying-yt9cp10 күн бұрын
The defense as a whole needs a full rebuild and have to start with either a corner or rusher. Every corner in that room is garbage. All the rusher are very very bad. Lbj suck also. Only good player now days is Winfield
@Ssfarryder8510 күн бұрын
The pass rush doesn't have time to get home due to the coverage being busted pre snap and the constant rotations in and out of the game. All that I mentioned above is keeping the pass rushers from getting in the groove and learning what counters to use

Just a side note, the Browns have been playing Newsome in the slot a lot this season. He's not really a slot CB, so he's been a bit down this season compared to previous.

I think if you are planning on cutting dean at the end of the year this makes sense but maybe I’m crazy but I kind of want to see Josh Hayes or Keenan Isaac play. If I remember right Isaac was decent in the preseason….. maybe I’ve just been a buc fan too long lol
@Fljeep1811 күн бұрын
I think they will trade Dean as there will be a market for him. Same situation as Carlton Davis .
@rontabb294611 күн бұрын
I think they probably should trade him if they can. I feel like our CBs are always playing too soft of coverage or allowing too many free releases off the line. I’d much rather see them up on their guy jamming them at the line…. That half second jam might be enough to help the pass rush get home.
@Ilovetkd12411 күн бұрын
@@rontabb2946exactly! Everytime I see that “Bowles” defense. I always see the corners all the way up near the 1st down yard so the Reveivers just go over there and the worst is they can’t even tackle as well so alot of times we are getting picked off on short yardage. I don’t understand why they can’t just be standing atleast half of how far they are now or even better start jamming so the pash rush can get to the QB without having the WR run the routes yet
@rontabb294611 күн бұрын
@@Ilovetkd124 exactly….. even if you are in zone get up there and jam them and then sprint to your zone area.

@davidrobinson315411 күн бұрын
@@NOAH2023 it'd have to be a 7th or a 5th for a 6th/7th, Detroit has our 6th as part of the Davis trade if I'm not mistaken
@douglacy526911 күн бұрын
I would like that trade but at the end of the day I think we need Bowles to just focus on the defense let coen run the offense step in during big decisions so he can try to get the guys playing on a better level and once we get thru the bye week we will have Evans, Dean and Dennis back and we will see some much needed improvements yeah sure we prob won’t have a top 5 maybe even top 10 but if we can get to middle of the pack that will give our team a much better chance at winning games

No thanks. Someone else to ne confused in Bowles "complex" secondary. How many communication issues would a guy have coming in halfway through the season?
@Fljeep1811 күн бұрын
You’re right about the confusion but this would be a long term solution as Newsome is 24 years old.
@davidrobinson315411 күн бұрын
Oh yeah, counter proposition (though I don't expect Licht to swallow his pride and try it): 7th to Indy for Stuard. High upside, they suck this year, and his contract expires at the end of the season. He isn't a starter idt, and it would signal him that he could hit the market for a starting contract and basically force their hand. It would also require Licht to swallow his pride and admit he screwed up though, so fat chance, as much as I'm sure Bowles would love to have him back

When a CB starts to fall off, they tend to fall off fast and hard, and they don't really bounce back. That passer rating allowed is absolutely alarming; hardly better than Funderburk (who is green af and thrown to the wolves in some challenging matchups), and it sounds like he doesn't have the tackling upside that Dean does. Most I would trade is a 5th for a 6th, and even then I'm not sure he wouldn't be a downgrade as bad as that passer rating is moving to a team with no pressure up front
@mjsheets593611 күн бұрын
That've been playing him in the slot a lot this season. That's not where he excels. He's better outside. That's caused him to have a bit of a downturn.
@davidrobinson315411 күн бұрын
@mjsheets5936 still a gamble that I'd expect another pick back for. I'd also be concerned since we don't play a lot of press man. We never did, probably to help with disguises and run defense, but as badly as that's worked for us recently it's been abandoned almost altogether. If he struggles with not being able to jam and play with clear leverage he's probably not going to fare much better here

If we lose tonight and lose to the 9ers, we'd have to win out to be at 11-6 which MIGHT be enough for a wildcard game. The falcons are a legit football team this year and I don't see them losing many of their remaining games. The issue is, the Packers, Vikings and Eagles are all doing well even though they're not winning their divisions.. so they will get the WC spots.
