What I’m not hearing from anyone in the national media is that on the PJ Washington shot, Kyrie caught it and tipped it in. So if anything, if no foul was called the Mavs still would’ve been up one with maybe a second left on the clock.

@SquidysTents7 ай бұрын
I agree. I think the wolves were the only team that was built to be able to beat the nuggets. They just matched up with them perfectly. But in the case of Dallas, I think they are built perfectly to beat the Wolves. Dallas has two generational perimeter players to wear down Ant and Minnesota’s other perimeter players on the defensive end, Nuggets had none (unless you want to count Murray). The Mavs have two seven foot, athletic, rim running centers AND PJ Washington to matchup with the Wolves three in the front court. Nuggets had only Jokic, and Jokic is def not the athletic rim running rim protector and athlete that Lively, Gafford, and Washington are. I still think the wolves should be the favorites going in, but I agree that Dallas matches up with the wolves way better than Denver did. Should make for an interesting series I hope

You can’t stop ant unless you double it’s been shown time and time again it doesn’t matter 1 on 1 ant is the most athletic dude in the league, I understand how kyrie and Luka are great but they aren’t even doing well. They got bailed out by the clippers doing what they do best(choke and be injured) and then they fought okc(no big) Chet isn’t strong. I don’t see how they can out rebound, out athletic them, the only thing I can see them doing is out shooting but mn has the 2 best perimeter players in the league? I'd argue that the Wolves perimeter defenders present a bigger challenge to Doncic that he hasn't faced in the playoffs. For example... last season (2023) it was late in the season, the Lakers beat the Mavericks on a Sunday nationally televised game on ABC and Jarred Vanderbilt gave Doncic HELL defensively. McDaniels, NAW are pretty much built just like Vanderbilt is. And Ant-Man is more than capable to give Doncic fits defensively. Another very important detail.... Doncic is banged-up and you can totally see it on his jumpers. His shooting has been subpar in the playoffs.

The match ups favor Minnesota. Who you putting on ant? Luka or kyrie? None of them? Then you lose the match up with whoever you send his way. Send two constantly? They just beat Denver with them selling out to double ant. There's no answer because Minnesota is just deeper. The other way around? Wolves have the size, wolves have the perimeter defenders... You can never stop Luka and kyrie but you can slow them down. It'll force the rest of Dallas role players to step up. Will they? Well the rest of Minnesota's defense isn't a slouch either. It's not a freebie. Dallas defense is so underrated but Kyrie and luka are the weakest points on defense and that's Minnesota's strength. Conley setting up the offense and Anthony Edwards executing. I don't see Dallas being able to win a best of 7 series. Good luck though and i hope it's a great series.

If Luka is at at least 50%-60% this series’s it’s bbq chicken. If he continues at 40% Kyrie is going to have to step up or it’s going to be tough. Dallas statistically is the better defensive juggernaut but it will all fall down to Luka and Ky’s health.

KAT is the X-factor in this series. If he can get 20 ppg the Wolves will take the series. He was in foul trouble against the Suns and Nuggets because he had to guard KD and Jokic. KAT and Rudy will help off their defenders against Luka and Kyrie and the other will be the weak side help rotation off the help. The Mavs don’t have a 4/5 that can create their own shots. The Wolves have enough perimeter defenders with length to throw at Luka and Kyrie that it’ll keep ANT fresh to get at least 30 per game. The Wolves also have the length to contest and disrupt the Mavs 3pt shooting. That’s something that the Clippers and OKC did not have. I got the Wolves in 6.

Calvin Booth has to be fired for the Nuggets. He stole a years salary and did NOTHING to help his team except gaslight the fan base into believing "Nothing could be done." A good, creative, forward thinking GM would have found a way to do SOMETHING to shore up that well below average bench. The issue of Jokic playing too many minutes rests mainly with him IMO.

For all the talk of the Mavs having a very different team from Denver with two guards who can shoot from anywhere, and that will be difficult for Minnesota... are we forgetting that the Timberwolves swept the team with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant on it? Hard to know how they match up post trade deadline, but before that, the Timberwolves have been pretty good at stopping Luka. Kyle Anderson will be a lot more useful in this regard this series.
