@@tj5779Giving respect to what came before doesn't mean you can't criticise what came after. There's no denying that without Vince we wouldn't have some of the best times in wrestling but that doesn't mean that we turn a blind eye to the fact that Vince, the man who built this place was also the reason for it's downfall. No one has the it factor forever. Vince's narcissism is what made the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era amazing and Vince's narcissm is what made the PG era and what came after so terrible. I've heard a lot more wrestlers calling him 'Hunter' lately than 'Triple H'. I assume its a combination of respect and familiarity. I think people used to turn their noses up at wrestling because it was “fake”, well news flash, just about every movie or TV show you watch is fake and scripted. As soon as you just accept Wrestling for what it is, you can enjoy the stories and raw talent and athletes of the performers. And I love those moments where they are so good at what they do that you legitimately believe they just knocked the other persons block off, or there is actual heat between the reformers. I enjoyed wrestling as a teen, was too cool for it through my 20s and 30s, and now as a 40 year old I’m finally able to accept and enjoy it for what it is.

Aside from that it's been mostly the sameness. Raw is still talky and boring, smackdown has some wrestling but nothing special or memorable like in the attitude or invasion era (like jeff hardy vs rvd). It is utterly mediocre. Is it so good though? What is so good? The Mania buildup was an absolute disaster until The Rock came back. It's the same predictable, watered down product it has always been. The Rock really did save an otherwise bland Mania. I feel like they have a few people walk out and say "This is the best era since the attitude era" and all the seals clap along. Ya'll are just on a high from Cody "finishing his story" That's going to pass real quick. We thought John Cena beating everyone with the 5 moves of doom was a low point. Now we have to sit through Damian Priest and Cody Rhoads putting us to sleep with the most generic robotic promos of all time. Even the Womens division feels weak compared to what it was a few years ago. You see, back in these eras that they are comparing themself to now. You would have a feud, they would do battle at the PPV and the next night on RAW there would be the aftermath, and the story would continue. But, because all the main event guys are part time.. They are just gone, and we are left with 47 year old Sheamus vs a Viking Raider, and LA Knight a walking parody of what used to be cool. The Rock coming back at 51 and showing how he is leagues above everyone in that company only puts an exclamation point on how mid the product is. Seth and Cody looked like little kids on their first day of class when Rock and Roman entered. That would be like Rowdy Piper coming back in the late 90s to Show up Steve Austin.

Given that, as far as most people are concerned, WWE *is* wrestling, the distinction doesn't really matter when describing popular opinion. @@khesipresents1885 Hmm. So if a couple months of sell outs, multi-billion dollar broadcasting deals, cutting through into the mainstream, and making tens of millions in a single weekend doesn't count as 'booming', what does? 5 Star matches from Meltzer?

The difference between Levesque and Mcmahon is quite simple. They had 2 different jobs. Vince ran a company, Levesque runs a show. People are so quick to take down vince, but the financials have been incredible for a while. Which means he still was putting out a product people liked and consumed. This is the reason why ECW had great shows, but not a great company.

Big Nose should put raw back to being two hours if he wants viewership to grow. Expecting people to watch 3 hours of content a week is a joke

To be fair, Triple H himself said that he also wants RAW to be two hours, rather than three, but it is unfortunately not his call.

People swoon over and always defend Vince for instituting the Attitude Era but often forget that he almost ran the company into the ground and nearly file bankruptcy prior to that. In the period in between 1993-1997, WWF is almost unwatchable. He makes a series of terrible creative decisions and is pushed into greenlighting The Attitude Era largely out of desperation. If Vince doesn't get pushed to do this, guys like Austin, Rock, HHH, or Foley never end up having the careers they were meant to. In fact its likely that Vince is probably out of business by 2000.

Admitting Wrestling is improving is an insult to we old time fans. We have been saying for the last ten years that Wrestling needs improvements, but then the Haters/Producers would do nothing but call us names and be rude to us.

WWE right now, is like if the Cowboys had an amazing off season, signed a bunch of superstars and are the clear cut favorites to win the Superbowl declaring themselves Superbowl champions before the first preseason game has even happened. You still have to actually go out there win your division and play all the playoff games, you cant just declare yourselves Superbowl Champions just because theres alot of hype around you.

They keep telling me how great wrestling is today... Then why do i keep watching old matches from the 80s and 90s? And i don't care what you say about Vince McMahon. Its not about him and its not about "Hunter Hearst Helmsley". The "culture" around what pro wrestling used to be has changed fundamentally. Its no longer about giants colliding in the ring with a score to settle, bashing each other bloody, hitting one another with piledrivers and chairs and all the other stuff thats basically been banned. Its just washed out, corporate bullshit now, overflowing with super kicks and women who look like men. Its woke
