SCIF is pronounced "skiff" like a small boat. Nobody in the know calls it an S-C-I-F. TEMPEST (capitalized) is Telecommunications Electronics Material Protected from Emanating Spurious Transmissions. I can see why you didn't use that each time you said TEMPEST because it's a mouthful.
