The Zelda has better control, shrines, physics, system, peaceful feeling, than The Witcher 3 but The Witcher 3 has better story, graphic, quest, soundtrack, voices, war emotion ... Still do not like the last battle with the Wild Hunt they could make it better than the battle of Kaer Morhen.

It`s crazy how the game, being a completely different genre, absolutely shames even other games of other genres, like purely narrative-driven games or sandbox action games. It reminds me of that one friend taking a shit in the cabin next to you in high school and throwing his used crumple of toilet paper over the wall trying to hit you with it. It just reaches out of its genre structure with its depth in so many aspects.

John In my opinion I believe red dead was amazing with the story and Zelda: Breath of the wild was amazing in terms of gameplay but the Witcher 3 has to be a perfect mix of story and gameplay while also having the idea that your actions matter in that game since it doesn’t just leave your consequences to just the way the story ends like it did in red dead

I remember when CDPR first announced that they were going the open world route I was skeptical. I thought "how are they going to translate the excellent storytelling from the first two games into a less linear design?" Open world games typically have subpar stories because their mechanics don't usually facilitate focused storytelling. Thankfully my skepticism was undone completely when I actually played the game!
@gamersinger5118
@gamersinger5118 6 жыл бұрын
matternicuss I still feel like the game could have been much better without the open world though. Doesn't really benefit traditional story based RPGs like The Witcher series. Pacing, urgency, and development time are all sacrificed and that is not the steps RPGs should take especially not like The Witcher games.
@matternicuss
@matternicuss 6 жыл бұрын
Gamer Singer I have to respectfully disagree :) For me, the storyline perfectly lent itself to an open world. Geralt is searching for his long lost 'daughter', but has very few leads. This means that practically anything he does, whether it be taking on a contract, or assisting the local lord could potentially put him on the trail. From a role playing perspective it made perfect sense, and as a fan of this series since the beginning, and knowing the search for Ciri would come eventually, it really immersed me in the game world. I can't think of an open world RPG with better storytelling than Witcher 3. Sure, it's a slow burn... but what a payoff! Whereas The Witcher 2 especially felt like a film in terms of pacing, Witcher 3 felt like an epic novel.

@gamersinger5118
@gamersinger5118 6 жыл бұрын
matternicuss So why are many, especially major Witcher fans, agreeing with me? I didn't see what was so special about The Witcher 3 at all honestly. The open world was just a poor excuse to appeal to more people and it's design was nothing great. Just felt like any other Ubisoft open world honestly, just a lot more space, which in this case, isn't a good thing especially with it's default way of littering the map with points which destroy the very reason for exploring in the first place which is just bad design in general for any open world. There is also their use of tons of copy/paste points of interest that become very repetitive after a very short while. The combat design was pretty mediocre and clunky overall especially with the indecisive lock on system and the lack of true variety in it's combat. I do agree it is a good solid game but it is blown way out of proportions especially among RPGs. I seriously doubt The Witcher 3 can be fairly thought of as that amazing of a game overall really even among other RPGs like Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate 2, or more modern RPGs like Divinity Original Sin series and Pillars of Eternity which do not have to try something they are not supposed to be to exist as a great RPG in general. CD Projekt Red should have stuck with what they were good at instead of trying so much and only getting a certain part right. But I suppose we will just agree to disagree. No need to draw this out so much since it isn't really all that important but I do worry for the way many developers like CD Projekt Red will begin to think when they are actually led to believe that this is the direction RPGs should go now. I deeply respect the developers and the game but it being praised so much for something it barely even does is not a good way to go about all this. And I truly do want their next game Cyberpunk 2077 to be the best it could be. If they do opt to make it open world, which I hear they will, then I hope they have learned from other proper open world games like Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild on how to do so in the right way.

James Wilson The Witcher EXPANSIONS combined cost around £30 and take a combined 40 hours to complete. Add to that the base Witcher game takes 100 hours to complete, and it’s all top quality content. Zelda: BOTW takes an average of 30 hours to complete and costs £45. The Witcher “expansions” are bigger than the entire BOTW, and better than a lot of other games main offering. My point being is that the Witcher expansions were good enough to be main games on their own and are worth every penny. Also it’s not stripped from the base game meaning if you don’t want to buy the Witcher expansions or you can’t afford to buy them, you still get a massive, COMPLETE game at the base price. There’s no problem with selling expansions as long as the content is not stripped from the main game in order to sell it back to you at a later date. And on many occasions with games these days, you need to purchase the dlc in order to get a proper ending to the base game. You should be praising The Witcher, not criticising it. CDPROJEKT have shown how to make a complete game, and how to properly make expansions.

Pulse Gamin The game literally has hundreds of points of interest that give you loot, you will encounter a bunch of monsters and side quests by wandering, and there are treasure hunts and such that tend to make you explore an area or fight a difficult enemy, there is plenty to the open world. Much more interactive than something like gta5.

@@runningkago4793 Where is the exploration aspect with just following question marks. That isn't exploring, that is simply going to the next marker using awful movement mechanic with Geralt and the horse. Not to mention that it lacks variety; Seriously, the bulk of these question marks are Bandit Camps and Monster Nests. Don't even get me started on Skellige where 90% of these question marks are Spoils of War with crap loot to offer. GTA V offers sandbox freedom that this game doesn't. You can actually explore because everything isn't marked on the map. The map is filled up AS you explore. Even games in its own genre do exploration wayyy better like Baldur's Gate. Witcher 3 is an average game with a decent story. No clue how people think it's the greatest game of all time.

It’s makes u interested in every single piece of information you pick up throughout the game, and you get to act out a variation of the actual scenes from the book. Just honestly unforgettable and haven’t felt such excitement reading a new chapter or playing a new quest since the excitement I experienced from watching Star Wars for the first time as a kid

Red dead 2 is suppose to be slow paced. The world feels way more alive than the witcher 3(witcher 3 does it greatly too but red dead 2 does it better ). The story and the writing is brilliant but witcher 3 does it better. Arthur is a way more human character than geralt (geralt is still my second favourite protagonist of all time). Red dead is filled with detail and I dont get what you mean when you say its boring. Different opinions are a thing though. Overall I prefer the witcher 3 with dlc than rdr2 but damn I'd be lying if I say both arent great.

It really is a good starting point. I started at the W3 in early 2017. With the opening cinematics, a couple of in-game lore books, character bios, and a dozen or 2 hours of story/sidequest gameplay, I felt like I had a good grasp on the world and characters (besides Ciri) I just beat ♥️'s of 🗿 not too long ago. AMAZING. Currently playing through the Witcher 1. Witcher 2 is already downloaded. Once I beat those I'll be playing Blood & 🍷as sendoff.

Witcher 3 IS the love of my life. Been playing RPGs for 30 years now. I´ve seen it all, but Witcher 3 (including the DLCs that make the game perfect) is simply unbeatable and beyond any comparison. I have played it 4 times through (total of 1138h) and discovered many unknown details and possibilities even on my 4th playthrough! The incredible music, the characters and their depth, the world, the brutality, the erotic, the exciting and emotional story line, the combat system, the lore, the HUGE and most beautiful world... all come together to combine and form an unforgettable experience. Witcher 3 is LOVE, Witcher 3 is LIFE. I can but hardly express my admiration, my love and gratitude to CDPR for this literally hundreds of hours filling, MASSIVE and EPIC MASTERPIECE OF ALL TIMES - that is WITCHER 3. ....Just the thought that CDPR obviously is planing a Witcher IV sends shivers down my spine. Tip to the hat to all Witcher 3 friends out there who feel the same and know exactly how insufficient words are to express the memories and feelings, when you hear the tunes or even the name....Geralt of Rivia.

It is the best open world game out there. It captures you so much with every detail they put into it and for me, even there is sooooooo much to do in this game, you NEVER loose sight of the main Story because it reminds you it's there at almost every corner. That is what makes it so perfect in my opinion. For example, Final Fantasy XV, I got lost in same old side quests and by turning back focus on the story, I forgot part of it already because I explored the world for a couple days only. With the Witcher it's different. I do side quests with important characters that are from the main storyline and even if I don't and do all the random quests, I'm still remembered by choices I made during Story playthroughs. And the world... Holy moly.. It's so beautiful, first time Skellige or Toussaint, it took my breath away and I immediately wanted to pack my stuff and move there.

I whole heartily agree. The amount of detail in this world is beyond anything we have seen before about probably won't see for a while after. The decisions in the design are so on point with the world itself that it doesn't feel like mechanics at all. Also the storytelling is probably the best in videogame history. I love that there is not good and evil just grey and the decisions you make have a long lasting effect which sometimes are more evil than you originally intended them to be. This all accumulates to not only a engrossing world but it is very realistic and parallels with ours almost perfectly. If there are other dimensions or worlds I wouldn't be surprised that something close to this actually does exist. Also, I am so pissed off at the author of the Witcher for his comments. For one these games are not retellings of his novels, they are a continuation. So things will be different. Also (after reading the novels myself) I can say these games built on the novels magnificently. They respect the source material as well as evolve it. Secondly these games are introducing his books to the world. Before that it there was just a Polish fan base but now its a international hit. Which means more books are being sold and he is making more money. He should shut up.

It's also very interesting how many open world games since the Witcher 3 took inspiration from it (something which I think isn't recognize enough), but were never as good. When I played Horizon: Zero Dawn, I saw the similarities almost instantly. It's a very good game, but it's just not as good. I will also argue that no DLCs or Expansions, EVER, were as good as the combination of Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

Idk if anyone else ever noticed it, but theres a mission where you help a man and his dog look for his brothers body on the battlefield. You find him still alive in a shack nearby along with a black en' chatting it up. He explains that "Rhosyn" the black ones name, crawled across the battlefield and found him, saved him, one was blind and the others legs didnt work. Anyway the mans brother refuses to come home without rhosyn. So you convince the man to take him in. There is a note on a tree just a ways down the road under a hanging body that says "anyone caught cutting down a hanginh body will also be hanged" more or less, SIGNED BY CAPTAIN RHOSYN DUH DUH DUHHHHH. Such detail that ive missed at least 5 playthroughs. Insane. So good.

Then I found what I needed and came out of the well, but the quest was a bit borked because I did parts out of order. But they usually sort themselves out in the end, did you have any where the quest just hits a full stop?

I’d say RDR2 is the overall best open world but Witcher is a second for sure
