For me o, I am not sensitive if any non-Nigerian says we are aggressive and loud. I don't feel offended at all. Instead, I accept it with grace😊.

I’m a major in the US Army served since 2010 and I turned 34 in July, I don’t consider myself funny but my accent makes my peers and soldiers thinks I’m funny. Everyone looks forward to seeing me talk either during meetings, formations or safety briefings. They mimic and laugh when I give the command “Battalion Attention” 😂😂😂 I started by copying my uncle’s accent who served in the Nigerian Army “Attttenntion, atease ”, but it cracks them up every time I say it like that, and then I adopted it. Now everyone loves to hear say that in the most Nigerian accent ever 😅

The Nigerian English accent is similar for all educated Nigerians but the poorly educated and non-educated ones have diverse accents depending on where they are from and where they spent their formative years.

Guy... Naija accent na the same ooo... especially now... everybody no send...them they speak As them like
@eneadole5485Ай бұрын
@eluaguwilliam not true at all. The illiterate or unexposed ones have their thick, indigenous accent. That's why you can recognise the Ibadan person when he speaks, the ijaw person, the fulani person, the ekiti person. The pronunciation of indigenous words comes to play in the local person's accent but the eposwd person will incorporate the right one. There's the Nigerian accent where you wouldn't decipher where the person comes from, and that's when you ask where they come from.

Another important point is that Nigeria was colonized by the British so we speak what we call the queen’s English, that makes us to pronounce the letter ‘t’ in words. We don’t call water warrer like the Americans do. There is no point trying to imitate how our host countries pronounce things. We should be proud of ourselves. Interestingly, the people we try desperately to imitate like our ways of doing things more than we can imagine. I live in America and I know the kind of compliment I get whenever I wear our fabrics. They also love our food. I have an American friend who would put ẹba side by side with rice and eat with his fingers 🤣.

No lie, na true talk, I like the will Smith one the most. It's very interesting and touching when I see people who love and imitate Nigerians, their food e.t.c I love seeing people who are no Nigerians or from Africa but they speak our accent or language and they speak it fluently. It shows that racism is reducing and we are accepting each other no matter who we are, it's touching.

As a French literature student, From late 1600s to early 1900s it was Dahomey, in present day is Bénin Republic
@GiveitatoughtАй бұрын
That history is not accurate. The Kingdom of Dahomey was made of today Benin, Togo and part of Niger. Meanwhile Nigeria was part of Benin Kindom with Cameroon.

Correction ma, the Dahomey Women Warrior movie is from Benin Republic, Cotonou. Not Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria. Please edit if you can before more people watch and comment or accept the same error. Thank you

That movie covered Dahomey which is now BENIN republic And OYO of NIG so what are u saying
@SkillashyАй бұрын
@@CheerfulbushmanDahomey where Waring with the Oyo kingdom. That doesn't mean Dahomey was in Nigeria. Saying Dahomey was in Nigeria is wrong. It was never in Nigeria. Though we didn't have colonial borders at the time , but it was not located in Nigeria. It was in Benin Republic.

@@Skillashy No I didn't said Dahomey is located in NIG. I just wanted to draw ur attention to the fact that the movie is related to both NIG and BENIN rep. Dahomey is this present day BENIN REP
@emmanuelogundipe3328Ай бұрын
@@CheerfulbushmanIt wasn't in Nigeria cos there was nothing like Nigeria back then however there is Yoruba and Benin influence present in Dahomey. Firstly is because Oyo controlled their region for years before they rebelled. Secondly and with connection to Benin in Edo State. The People of Dahomey took permission to name their nation after the Kingdom of Benin from the Oba of Benin. If they were colonized by the English the difference won't have been like it is and it probably would have identified with Nigeria.
@daviddahunsi2048Ай бұрын
@Skillashy Point of correction; the kingdom Dahomey was part of the old Oyo empire. The old Oyo empire spans the whole of Dahomey before the colonials came and split all these regions into different countries.
