Marco K They came down to Africa from the Middle East. During the growth of Islam in the 1st century East and Northern Africans were enslaved and raped by Arab invaders and then came the Europeans who learnt it from the Arabs. In Arabic Abiid is the same word for black and slave.

@Marco K true. Abid pronounced Abead. I asked this arab man from Libya about this and he told me that just like black people say "My Nigga." (A word I don't use) They say that word to black people too. He said it with such a surety.

@Marco K The word the Arabs use as "slave" is "abid", therefore those who are named Abdulla mean abiid of alla - slave of alla.

Yes he is doing great work but stupid politicans in Africa is so busy destroying the image of the work he us doing by instigating xenophobic attacks in their various countries across Africa. Though matter what he did trying to sale the image but African politicians is active pulling it down by dividing Africa further more. Its only left to know how they gonna do with the stupid initiative called African free trade area. It's a shame....

He knows the history of slavery incredibly well. Here in Brazil, in every region except the southern region, most people have black ancestors, whether it's a grandparent or a great-grandparent, whether they are dark people or even white and blond people.What happens is that in Brazil there was an intense mixture between races. That's my case. To this day I had never heard such a precise and detailed explanation of the context of slavery in other parts of America as presented in this video. Great video!

Do NOT hate on the year of return. It's GREAT to get the facts out, but this Year of Return has caused more Africans in the diaspora to return home than ANY OTHER EVENT since the so called "trading" of slaves ended. As someone who traveled to Africa for 1st time this year, specifically to Ghana and mainly because of the invite from the Ghanaian government, I can tell you I don't care how many years were being commemorated... I'm just glad that me and my family were INVITED and actually took the opportunity to go! Can't yell #Africatotheworld and then condemn a movement that brings the diaspora BACK to Africa! This is the kind of conjecture that brings about DIVISION among Africans worldwide. Look around... Can we REALLY afford that right now? There is always a way to get out the truth without diminishing the efforts of others. The message should be, #BRINGTHEMBACK... by any means necessary.

1619 is referring to the 400 years within the colonies that became the US - Florida and the other states were not under US rule in 1619 - They were ruled under other countries and later purchased by the US. The 1619 year is not referring to slavery in the other countries such as Brazil - Only the US.

@Leonice Williamson Of course other counties had claim to areas that later became part of the US, but the people that formed the US were from Britain - That's why they fought Britain in the American Revolution to get from under their rule - These colonies were the original American 13 states. Virginia was the first one of them to get African slaves in 1619. The US later annexed and purchased the other territories from other countries.
@vale-md3ed
@vale-md3ed 5 жыл бұрын
@Leonice Williamson Thanks, the info you provided proves the point - These territories werent owned by the US at that time - You and he are misunderstanding what the 400 years actually mean - The 400 years 1619 - 2019 is reference to the first colony that had slaves that became a state of the USA - Florida etc, had slaves earlier but was not the first colony with slaves that became a state within the US - It was Virginia. Florida became a US territory in 1822 and did not become a state of the US until 1845 - Prior to this time it was owned by another country - That's why it does not qualify as the first US state to own slaves - Its Virginia.

Galatians 4:26 KJV “But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.” When the so-called Negros aka the truth biblical Israelites return home as a nation of GOD'S CHOSEN people, it will not be Africa, it will be Jerusalem according to our prophetic history and culture. This will be after the great war aka WW3, that will soon come. A BIT OF THE REAL TRUE SO-CALLED NEGROS HISTORY. During the great slaughter of 70 A.D. by Rome against my people the so - called Negros aka Israelites at Jerusalem, many of my ancestral Israelite brothers and sisters heeded the warning of the great Roman slaughter against our people at Jerusalem by YAHAWASH MASHIACH, aka Jesus the Christ, a dark skinned black man from the tribe of Juda. He told the faithful to flee into Africa when the Roman Legions come around about in that near future. Those who listened and follow our Lord’s instructions lived. The ones that didn’t, were slaughter or taken to Rome to be put to death in the Roman Colosseum, they were all black not white people as the lies were perpetrated. MY ancestors the so-called Negros aka the true biblical Israelites, settled on the West Coast of Africa for the most part, there we establishing treaties with the real Africans aka Hamites historically. A side note, we never truly got alone with the Hamitic aka Kemetic aka African people, because our Covenant with our GOD / YAHAWAH, the only one true LORD GOD would not allow us to be entwined with people of the other nations. There we Established Fort Judah, Fort Benjamin and Fort Levi. Below is a link that shows a 1700’s map of the territory where my aka our forefather’s settled in large numbers on the West Coast of Africa, this is a matter of TRUE history. VonnieMo 26SIS I’m not sure where you went with that comment. That flag is nothing to be proud of. My history is part of our history as a whole. To separate it from African history simply means that the indoctrination has been successful. My point was that the branches of our history is not limited to this country but as the brother said it covers a wider scope. It is up to us all from the diaspora to learn about each other to bridge the gaps and create more unity. That in itself is a process and having a close mind won’t help only hurt. We are all we have.

Thank you for the history lesson as evidently this scholar knows a great deal about who we are and where we're from. As far as the Year of Return, I applaud the initiative if it's bringing the right spotlight to the continent along with economic growth, political influence and other profitable initiatives. We shouldn't argue about how long slavery lasted. We still bear the scars. Let's have more discussion on neocolonialism and African Union for a brighter future.

Yeah but we should also teach our kids geopolitics too. Talking about history about slavery will benefit us about knowing what we are and finding out our true identity but it will not solve the issues. What will solve our issues if we also had knowledge about geopolitics because it gives us an insight on how the global world works. Not to mention it will give us knowledge on how we can improve Black countries thus moving us forward.

The overwhelming majority of slaves were free African people who were captured in war or were victims of banditry or were enslaved as punishment for certain crimes by other Africans. In Senegambia, the Guinea Coast, and the Slave Coasts of West Africa, inter-tribal war was the most important source of slaves. During the time of the slave transatlantic trade Africans did not think of themselves as Africans, but as members of separate nations and/or tribes. This is why it's known as the Slave *Trade* . Armies of Europeans did not need to march 100's of kilometers into Africa on missions of conquest and slave acquisition. Most African peoples were brought to European controlled trading ports on the coast by other Africans and *traded* into slavery in exchange for FIREARMS, ALCOHOL, & other goods. (The tour guide said the same during Wode Maya's visit of the port of no return) The massive European demand for slaves and the introduction of firearms radically transformed West and Central African society. Within Africa, Africans were sold/traded to European slavers resulting from petty debts or minor criminal or religious offenses or quite often following unprovoked raids on unprotected villages. An increasing number of religious wars broke out with the goal of capturing slaves. European weapons made it easier to capture slaves. Some African societies -- like Benin in southern Nigeria -- refused to sell slaves. Others, like Dahomey, appear to have specialized in enslavement. Still other societies, like Asante, in present-day *Ghana* , and the Yoruba in western Nigeria, *engaged in wars that produced as many as half of all eighteenth and early nineteenth century slaves.* Although I have no doubt that the Brother being interviewed is correct in his recount of history, Unfortunately, the FACTS of the entire story must also entered into evidence. Otherwise we may be prone to repeat the same mistakes again.
