It might appear to be the magic bullet now, give it time and it'll fall apart. Yum brands did a lot of dual branded fast food chains combination stores such as KFC/Long John Silver's, KFC/A&W, Pizza Hut/Taco Bell etc. Even non Yum brand places got in the act like Carl's Jr adding in Green Burrito Mexican food. Very few still exist as Co branded places today. Most have been converted into stand alone versions of the more popular brand. Plus the private equity companies that bought up these brands don't always keep the brands so then you've got operators having to license from multiple companies instead of the one that got them Co branded in the first place. And generally one will look better supported in it's in store marketing material than the other ultimately making both look like a place you'd rather not be in. I'm certainly interested in seeing how the co branded IHOP/Applebee's location works out since that pairing is matching up brands that have their busiest times of the day at different times allowing both to better utilize the same dining room.

Because food, the kind you find in a mall, is not generally something that you order on Amazon. It’s an impulse purchase that goes with shopping. Secondly most of these are clothing stores and younger people just don’t care that much about their wardrobe. Something made all the worse by work from home and the casual nature of the modern day workforce. Lastly high end malls are doing very well. The well off are still interested in buying exclusive brands.
