The Original Rainbow Cone opened in 1926 and became Chicago’s most legendary ice cream destination. The signature ice cream cone is comprised of five flavors: chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House (New York vanilla with cherries and walnuts), pistachio and orange sherbet. Insider’s Herrine Ro visits the shop and talks to the third generation owner Lynn Sapp. Herrine tries out the dessert and talks to the customers about why the ice creamery is so iconic.

I’ve tried this and it’s pretty tasty! I shared it with two other people, but you could definitely eat it on your own. It’s very small slivers of ice cream so it maybe is the same size as a double scoop.

Best spot ever. My aunt used to take my mother and her siblings back when Black folks weren't allowed on that side of Western. Yet they never bothered her there. Been going there since I was a kid. Palmer House and Pistachio are the best but it's all good.
