Glad you are both doing well. I am retiring in Central Pattaya. Yes, the nightlife is amazing but it does not have to be the adult relations kind. I love how everything is so close together and the public transportation is 10 baht. I also have more friends there than here.

I agreed with you here. I have lots of American friends/French, Australia and British, too. We all get along and have fun. I'm not sure what, John is saying negative things about Pattaya that he meets friends at the gym only. Bars and nightlife are for people who wants that life and enjoy that lifestyle; and nothing's wrong with that if that's what they want. But there's plenty of positive things about Pattaya and things to do in Pattaya. The foods are great whether it be street foods or local low cheaper restaurants and there's lots of fancy ones that prices are higher, but hey, you pay for what you get. I enjoy living in Pattaya because I have a great Thai wife that takes care of me and we enjoy times and do things with our friends who lives in, Pattaya. Pattaya is not that bad of a place like John makes it seems to be. Besides Pattaya, you can travel outside of its city and go to Rayong, Bangsaen, Chonburi or the outskirts of Pattaya like, Jomtein, Sattahip and Sriracha and once that's done you'll feel good driving back to your home in Pattaya and realized that it is a great place to hang your hat. Grass aren't always Greener on the other side! Having a great wife or partner that's what you need, hooah. AATW! 🪖🪂

I am happy to see your both feeling well again. Listening to him about Pattaya I guess it’s what ever you like. I am living in Pattaya for 8 months now and only had trouble getting around in December 31st for New Year’s Eve. I live in So Pattaya in a condo I do my own thing and it’s just a beautiful life here from US. I am 65 I go shopping in many supermarkets and never a problem any time of the week. Always love the perspective that you bring regarding peoples experiences living in Thailand. I hope to be retiring there in maybe 5 years, just waiting for permanent resident visa for my Thai wife so she can come to Canada until I retire. First I like say it's good to see Gift's and you, Joe back and looking good. Are prayers still goes out to Gift to get better and a speedy recovery. As for living in, Pattaya and I think anywhere really it depends on your mate. If John's girlfriend's were from Pattaya for example, he probably wouldn't mind living in, Pattaya because she would have family and friends there and that would make things easier to live there. I have live near Pattaya and have lots of American Expats friends lives here too. Being a retired Army and we have VFW in Pattaya makes life much better for us Americans and our Thai wives to enjoy life like we're kind of living in the U.S in a way. If you're single, well that's a different story, lol. But being married you need to have someone in this case "Thai wife" who can help you with say, 1 year Visa, 90 visa and pretty much of everything so on. So, it's not about the bar girls and night clubs that's a big deal in Pattaya bc we're married. If you have a home regardless of where in Thailand or the Philippines...you're not gonna be happy unless you have the right soulmate to spend the rest of your life with. For example, if my wife was Cambodian or Loas and even Burma. I would live with her there if she choose to live in her native country if I love her enough and I know she loves me too. It's a trust thing. I trust my wife of over 33 years that's why I followed her to Thailand and I'm happy here bc of her. I have friends living all over Thailand like Korat, Kon Kaen, Rayong, Prajin Bury and Udon and some in, Cambodia because of their Thai wives. A lot of these places are pretty remote having less or no Americans at all but they're ok bc of their wives. So, I'm sorry for rattling off maybe too much nonsense, I hope not, it's just my opinion. I know, Joe's fine living there with, Gift's bc is her hometown and they do lots of things together going out and traveling all over the country. My husband and I completely agree with this gentleman’s point of view on pattaya. We are moving in Sep. will stay with our pets to get our visas set up, some health stuff taken care of, then we are going to move out of that city and find our tribe also. Gift is looking really well and seems to have her appetite back! Lovely to hear from John. I agree that Hua Hin has a unique vibe (I'm in HH for the next few months) I prefer it it over BKK. I'm staying in a condo in town, but if I was here longer I would probably stay further out - down near Dolphin Bay. I speak to a few people at the gym and am lucky that a friend and his partner have a restaurant in town and we all gather there for a few beers in the evenings - rather than in the entertainment district.

I live in Jomtien just 10 minutes from Central Pattaya and the expat scene is completely different with great expat scene with many expats with wives and girlfriends so the whole of Pattaya is not how you describe. You just need to move outside the centre and you will find what you are looking for
