The new Fujifilm X100VI has a lot of hype surrounding it, primarily for it's photo capabilities. However, in this video, Jason Vong shares his thoughts on the camera's video capabilities and how it actually surpasses a lot of brands with similar APS-C sensor models. Jason hopes others, especially Sony, will incorporate a built-in ND filter in future camera models since they already have leading video specs.

As someone who focuses on only photography I don’t know much about the video specs and how all of that works but I just wanted to say however you color graded that x100vi footage at Disney looks amazing!

Thanks Allie! Check out Lut Company! Not affiliated with them but their LUTS for F-LOG are great! LUTS are kinda like Lightroom Presets. I did have to make some extra tweaks and made it warmer but those LUTS are good baselines! However, I'm keen on just using Fuji's Film Simulation for videos since they are already look great right out of the camera!

hey Jason, thanks for your great video ❤ One question: Had the Fuji X100VI too and after ca. 10 minutes normal usage in PHOTO Mode (with Filmsimulations), the right side of the cam (the grip) gets very warm on the backside. Do you have the same „problem“. Wonder if this is normal…

I am curious to know, in video mode, does the X100 VI record the focusing noise from the lens while using the internal mic? If it does NOT, then it will be good for me. I had a XT200, it recorded lots of the annoying focusing noises when taking videos, I had to to return it after 3 days.

I will have to check on the continuous recording. But it did not overheat on me while I was filming at Disneyland. I shot very intermittently. 30-60 sec clips at a time. No issues but it was warm!

that's what I'm trying to figure out. With Sony, we already have the oversampling happen (6K -> 4K) so I do post-zooms freely and not have to worry but this is the first time I have the option to do at the 6.2K resolution.

I don’t get why people would say that this camera brings nothing new for photos. For me IBIS is incredibly useful for low light, and 40mpx, while not as important, will make me feel much safer with the fixed lens, as cropping will be much better. I don’t do any video and am still very excited about the 100vi

I took way too long deciding whether or not to order one or just buy an X100V on resale since the prices dropped during the pre-order period. Prices slightly jacked up again now that the X100VI is experiencing almost the same low inventory problems the V had DESPITE moving production to china. Decided to pre-order the VI for the versatility of the 40mp sensor (cropping in post). But I ordered mine on the last Pre-Order day on the 27th. B&H already emailed me a week ago saying they wont have enough product to fulfill my order in March. Definitely won’t be seeing this camera until mid to late summer. HOPEFULLY! If I don’t get it by then I’m cancelling my preorder and just buying a reasonably priced V on resale.

Curious what you think about the iphone 15's 4k60p log profile video with BM app vs the fuji x100vi 4k60p. Besides sensor size limitations with low light, does the iphone 15 produce comparable image quality?

Ultimately, it's convenience. I can get comparable results in good lighting as you have seen in this video. I do prefer the videos & images from my dedicated cameras including Fuji but on relaxing days like Disneyland, I know I can still get some great video quality from my iPhone 15 Pro and with log, get the colors looking like I shot on a dedicated camera! Best of all, it's just in my pocket.

In addition to Sony should add built in ND filters, they should add a camera with retro features, Nikon and Fuji have done. I learnt all my photography basics on a Nikon FE.

@@JasonVong Retro looks like dials etc., for starters, silver and black body like the Nikon Zfc (this looks like the 35mm Nikon FE film camera) plus all the modern conveniences of digital like autofocus etc. Film simulations were never my thing.

@@JasonVong with the PD plate you can still remove the battery when you place the baseplate all the way to the side, but it rubs up against the door.. which im scared it will leave scratches lol seems like they move it slightly compaired to my V (and moved it more towards the front of the camera). But its not too bad!

This is the second comment I see about the heat issues on the V. Did it shut off? I was pretty hands off when Vivienne had her X100V so I'm not too sure on the heat issue. With the X100VI, it gets warm for sure but it never overheated or shut down. Still gotta do more tests though!

Every video camera must have a built-in ND. There is no reason why a $6000 Leica Q3 does not have one. Fuji gets it right and gives the users what they want. All other camera companies are just doing what they want. No wonder X100VI is the best-selling camera in history even with poorer image quality than any FF Sony camera.

It feels weird sometimes when people pretend they're using this for video. These cameras are basically photographer's toys for family and vacation. Are there really people shooting in F-LOG and grading footage out of this? Why?

If it's possible, why not? Canon 5D back in the day was meant for pro photography until they gave it video and then all of a sudden, it started a whole movement for pro videography. I'm thoroughly enjoying the video features of the X100VI. I felt not many people talk about it so I wanted to chime in that it's great in this aspect as well!

It's simply because I was in the right place at the right time and I took the pic. This camera takes it one step above and it's still smaller than my A6600. So why not?

THANK YOU for watching the video before you did that! 🤣 I might have to make a video updating my kit cause I know it's super confusing now. I love the GRIII as it is the most compact. That's the sole reason (+IBIS) why I ultimately went with it instead going into the Fuji system BUT NOW BECAUSE OF ALL THE NEW VIDEO SPECS ON TOP OF THE ALREADY AWESOME FILM SIMS, it's hard not to reach for the X100VI over the GR & RX1. Even a6700 is in question. I'm telling you, the X100VI is got me all whacked. But my Full Frames are untouchable, esp ZV-E1.

It made so much sense for Fuji to brag about outsourcing the manufacturing to China, acknowledging they couldn't meet demand of the V, gave one to every "influencer" on the planet, and STILL can't get them to people that IMMEDIATELY placed an order when they were announced, for four months after release date at a minimum. A terrible camera company with hype marketing being rewarded for their lacking capabilities in doing business.

But, I feel like I invested so much money in the Sony A7IV and 50mm GM F/1.4 that getting a second camera (considering I'm not a professional, i.e. I don't make money from my photography) would be irresponsible. I do want to get a 35mm lens at some point, though. Anyhow, I appreciate the level of care you put into your videos and your upbeat personality. All the very best!

@@Daniel_Ilyich You got an amazing setup already! No need to chase for this one. I love the 50GM 1.4, it's solid! 35mm might feel too similar so maybe consider a 24mm? Ultimately we all gotta choose what fits our needs the best. For me, I'm trying to find the smallest setup possibly while retaining the best quality. Fuji's got this. I'm waiting on Sony to make their move!

I was thinking of the 35mm for indoor parties/gatherings where you don't have as much room to move back to get everyone in the frame. 24mm feels very specialized because you probably don't want to shoot anything closer than a waist up portrait. Then again, I haven't had any experience with anything wider than a 35mm (I had the Fuji X100T, back in the day). Anyhow, I appreciate you taking the time to interact.
