I have never had a problem with my man having female friends. I’ve never been insecure. At 69 soon to be 70, I still have the same attitude. I don’t expect for my man to pay or purchase things all of the time. It’s nice to treat. If the person that I’m dating turns out to be jealous or insecure if I speak to a man, then the party’s over even if I really liked him. That’s too much stress.

Actually it's not. But I understand the sentiment. The women here tend to be really independent and not put up with as much bullshit after generations of conditioning as a result of what I'm about to say next. I'm from the states and encounter all types of toxic crazy behavior that would literally blow your mind. You name it. And my mother and her mother were the same way. We're the most progressive multi racial nation in the world. America is a very conflicting wonderland where literally anything goes. I've come to expect absolutely everything when encountering new people. But it's kinda thrilling. It's like playing the lottery. You never know what you're gonna get. Great video!!! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, I’m living in Japan for 7 years now as a foreigner and it’s just really interesting to hear and compare stories. In Japan I can see some similarities and differences, but what I can say as a foreigner is that I enjoy dating people in this area of the world because I feel like there is a give and take: some of the stability from routine to just cultural practices and attitudes add so much to my life, but my gratitude and openness adds to their life too. This also makes me think how our presence here is impacting people and the future of each of the places we live! Like even though Eugene broke up with those women, I think the impact they had on each other will affect a lot of other people. I mean, it’s impacted us cause we’re here talking about it now ! Lol

Even on Kdramas it shows men/women being VERY possessive and jealous. Great video. I've been married for 33 years. If my husband wants to go somewhere with another woman, I'd question WHY. If they've known each other for years and NOT ex-lovers, then I'm ok with them being friends. But, most of the time, it would be US going together, not usually a one-on-one.

I'm glad that Eugene spoke up. I'm glad, too, he realised that a relationship should not be a constant source of stress. Having a partner who is also a friend is ideal. Having a partner that lets you be with your friends and has friends themselves means you have more to share when you are together. Once kids enter the relationship, time alone together becomes precious but there is even less time for friends. It's so important to maintain adult relationships still, otherwise a sense of isolation and entrapment may set in. Not always, but some more socialable types really feel this. I wish Eugene all the best with his relationships. Kudos to him for being so open and honest.

Firstly, shout out to Eugene for making time to share his experiences with everyone and I wish him the best with his current relationship ❤ secondly ladies, appreciate the space between you and your partner. Speaking from a middle age standpoint, it doesn't bother me when my man talks to other women...and hasn't for decades. It's fine, not even worth worrying about until it is. So long as he doesn't cross the line, and she doesn't cross the line, then it's completely ok. If you are being overly possessive over your man, you need to take a long hard look and do some self-reflection to figure out why. Is it your insecurities that make you act that way? Has he done something that makes you not trust him? etc. Because, nine times out of ten, its your hangup and not that he has necessarily done wrong. Especially if you are overly jealous and possessive from the damn jump.

I think part of his story is international and some cultural. Dating in his youth is basically the same all over the world. Young love is very difficult to navigate. Talking to other women and getting in trouble is also a big factor in America depending on the person. Jealously is a international emotion. With that being said the women may have a reason for being so possessive. The men in Korea seem to be very indecisive. It seems they love you five mins after meeting and leave you ten mins after. Even in their Kdrama's.(only speaking on dating) I think the men play a big part in the insecurity issues. (NOT totally eliminating women) I do feel that international men and women are more free and open (speaking on Americans) However we also have the best and worst when it comes down to relationships. lastly the independent woman. I feel that women in the west are more Independent and probably have more financial opportunity than women in a lot of other countries, However I think it's sometimes a over kill. I myself happen to like when a man pays for the date. I believe that chivalry still exist and I for one am all for it. I also think that part of the attraction and charm of Korean men is that fact. Although a lot of women in western countries say they don't mind paying, I am sure a lot feel quite special when the gentleman takes the initiative.

The jealousy thing is not about gender. I've dated a Korean and a Chinese guy and they were both disgustingly jealous. I am not jealous AT ALL and it annoyed the heck out of me cause they wanted to control who I meet and we had countless arguments because I was gonna meet guy friends and they were like: "You can't meet a guy one on one. What will people think?" Like... what?!? What if I'm bi, am I not allowed to have any friends then...? The logic... But I've heard similar stories about men and women of all nationalities... it just seems to be a bit more prevalent in certain areas due to how people are raised there and stuff.

That’s because men usually have to go quite young. It’s a bit hard for example to be 20 years old, and wait two years for a guy that you’ve only dated 6 months (or even if you’ve dated him a long time). They’re still going through phases in they lives where two years down the road they might be completely different people, why wait that long only to find that you’re not even compatible anymore after that time has passed and you guys have had such different life experiences. Just I understand why some young people don’t want to do long distance relationships (despite having done it myself), I also understand why someone wouldn’t want to wait 2 years for someone when they’re still so young.

No one should ever tell someone else who they can and cannot be around or talk to. I believe that having actual friendship with the opposite sex is healthy. Platonic friendships do exist and everyone should have them. No matter what stipulations you put on a relationship which within reason there should be none...it's common sense and mutual respect in all that means without rules. Jealously is attractive to an extent, but when it becomes a weapon for control...that is a whole different story. You do not have to fight with someone to show you love them and generally speaking everyone may have disagreements, but that does not mean fighting with one another. Some adults can actually communicate in conversing without a fight or shouting match. Trust is important and setting boundaries are important and healthy, except when your boundaries begin to put a strain on a relationship for self serving reasons. Relationships should not be one-sided like this, and if someone is going to cheat that is a them problem and you should make him/her not your problem anymore. You telling them what they can or cannot do, is not going to prevent them from cheating on you. You are right that whole this is what couples do, it's because I'm passionate or care is toxic. Love should never be associated with things like that. Eugene sounds like a great guy. Thanks for sharing.
@kstarluvsall Жыл бұрын
I totally get about fighting too much. It puts too much pressure in the relationship which is something I’ve learned the hard way but also too I think if you never fight that’s also a problem because it’s hard to believe two people that close aren’t going to disagree on things from time to time and I don’t mean a crazy blown out fight but just like a normal disagreement. To me it would just seem like they’re hiding things from each other or don’t care enough or are just bottling things up which also isn’t healthy in the long run

As a woman, paying for dates ain't no way. If you want to do that, do you do boo. But, it's a no for me. It was nice to have a male perspective all the same. Plenty of foreign women can be just as possessive, read about them all the time. It's wild to be that possessive though And the sex thing definitely has a lot to do with culture. Women are very much expected not to talk about enjoying sex, then men are surprised when they're reserved sexually. The more I think of it the foreign women are better at sex is giving major stereotype 🙄 "foreign women" are not a monolith. Being from the west doesn't mean you're automatically open or adventurous when it comes to sex. I think the women who are willing to uproot their lives and go to another county are more likely to be sexually adventurous. But, not all of them. Again not a monolith.

I agree. If a guy asks me out to dinner & I say yes & he doesn't pay, he won't get another date. I'd rather we go on a walking date or a simple picnic if he's that strapped for cash (or wait until he can afford to take me dinner). I'm from the US and sex is a taboo topic in my family. He completely lost me when he said sex is better with foreign girls.
@kimleemoon Жыл бұрын
I think even reserved western women are more sexually liberated than Korean women. Korea is extremely conservative when it comes to sex. I have seen other videos where Korean men have said Korean women are quiet in bed. What might be seen as “bold or expressive” to a Korean guy might just be basic or standard (nothing out of the ordinary) sexual behavior in the west.

I know this video is old. But my perspective on the Asian culture when it comes to dating. Majority has a lot of insecurities. The texting is crazy. If they don’t text back within secs or minutes they start to get paranoid. They really want you to spend all your free time with them and them only. They expect you to have no friends and little to no interaction with family. Trust is something a lot of people don’t have.

I have zero problem with a guy having female friends. If we are dating it means I expect to be able to trust you so gender of friends doesn't matter. Most of my friends are male so he would have to deal with the same thing. I participate in a lot of really active activities for fun and not a lot of women are drawn to them. I also work in a male dominated field. I'm used to being a wing woman that only learns later that a guy has a crush on me. I don't pick up on hints well. If a guy is being nice I figure he's just being nice because he sees me surrounded by a bunch of guys and me giving them a hard time. If I can't trust him with female friends, then we don't need to date. I do genuinely appreciate anything that a person takes time or effort to do for me because the most precious commodity we have is time. We don't get an infinite amount of it and when it's gone, it's gone!

I feel like what he might like is that western men have given western women incredibly, lower-than-hell, in the bedrock low expectations ... and ladies, don't spend a damn cent on a man until you're either married or he has otherwise truly proven his commitment. I hesitant to even say that because I have seen ALL of the women in my life be financially robbed and exploited by boyfriends and/or husbands. Men don't need your money. How much are we STILL making on the man's dollar ?? Yeah, save your money... Don't try to buy your way to a man's heart because it doesn't work for them, they just view you as a piggy bank they can exploit.

That’s what I heard too. Korean women have standards that Korean men don’t meet but foreign women have little to no standards so Korean men can easily surpass them. It seems like Eugene likes foreigners because he can do the bare minimum and it’s like 😍😍😍. Be careful ladies, keep your standards and expectations high. Don’t be crazy but don’t accept the bare minimum either. There is a shift GLOBALLY of men only doing the bare minimum but wanting to be praised like they went above and beyond.

Sure, there are national/regional characteristics that, whilst not universally true, are reasonable depictions of a country/region. So, as a Scot living in London, northern European people - Brits, Scandis, Dutch, Germans - do tend to be more independent/individualistic be they male or female. I am also assuming by 'foreign' the chap means 'modern, liberal and Western' as opposed to the many billions of people who aren't. What I think, though, is that what you bring to a relationship tends to be the same as what you get out of it. I'm old - in my 60s - and have travelled extensively. Sure, English or Danish girls may be more overtly sexual than their coyer Korean or Filipino counterparts - who may not even be able to use the 'D word' without blushing - but when it's just the two of you in a warm and comfortable bed those differences vanish as long as the two of you trust each other. So my rule of thumb is that a SE Asian girl is as adventurous in bed as her Western counterpart...depending on who she is with.
@kimleemoon Жыл бұрын
You’re speaking from a westerner’s perspective not from a Korean man’s perspective. The women might be different with men from their own country, culture or race. And what you as a western man might see as exotic (SE Asian and Korean women), their own men see as just another Korean or SE Asian girl. You have the added impression of something different, which is what they have with foreign women as well. So that unfamiliarity alone could play into making their sex life more exciting.

I don’t see anything bad about my partner (lol I’m still single 😂) being friends with his opposite sex considering the fact that most of my friends are actually guys😂 and I’m quite nonchalant, yes it’s okay to set a boundary in a relationship but not to the extent of isolating them cause I for one won’t like to ALWAYS be with and around my partner on a constant basis (my preference) cause he still had a life outside wayyyy before meeting me so yeah…… but for crying out loud where’s a Eugene when you need one 😭😭 I need one 😂*faints*🌻😂

I think the kid thing is cultural expectations; Korean parents/family will have certain demands/expectations for Korean women having children. They probably don’t have the same expectations for a foreign woman having children with their son.

I think that in some cultures girls are worried about being confident or open about sex and preferences in bed because guys expect them to be be virginal and think negatively of them if they seem experienced. I think the jealousy is a lot to do with immaturity and have heard it as bad from men as well. Aso I think again it's an expectation of how girls think men want them to be. When you have a culture where women are expected to be cute and delicate and looked after while dating but when married basically take on all the domestic responsibilities with or without children, to be the primary carer if they do have children and make sure their man is looked after in everyway....they are just getting their share before that happens 😆. It seems quite common in Korea (and part of the Confucius legacy) to think that boys and girls can't be just friends after a certain age. But again, I've had european boyfriends that got annoyed with me for talking or being friends with other men...Not for long though because..byeee.😂

I think the Korean women standards when it comes to dating is good. I think it’s normal for a grown woman to prefer a MAN and not a boy🎯
