If I go to a restaurant and the table next to mine has a camera, a light and filming set up, I will immediately leave. I am there to enjoy food and an intimate moment, I dont wanna risk to end up on youtube. Also, you check wine prices online and compare them to restaurant prices. Ask yourselves some questions before calling other people rude, you were the most rude in this situation!

Thank you for your comment and sharing your point of view. First of all, we didn’t have all filming set just our iPhone and I’m pretty sure it’s nothing unusual to take pictures and and video with a phone in the restaurant. Secondly, I clearly said that the restaurants have margins and just wanted to show how much such wine cost in a shop. And the last thing - I got a written permission to make videos of our food and of everything what is on our table so I don’t see the reason you call us rude.

I don’t know… it would be very annoying for anyone around you to be paying $100 for my my meal and trying to enjoy my dinner and have a film production next to me. Did you contact them ahead of time to let them know you’ll be doing all the videos, bringing a light, filming your review and thoughts on the dishes?

Yes, we asked the restaurant in advance if we can make the videos of our meals and we got a permission to record everything on our table. The light was very small, the size of half my hand so shouldn’t disturb anyone. I wouldn’t call it a “film production”, we used only our phone and didn’t speak loud. I think it’s nothing unusual when people speak in normal voice and comment the food in a restaurant or take pictures and videos of their food with phones. And in case we disturbed anyone, the restaurant staff should tell us about that in a polite way, not shout at us. If we were asked, we would certainly stop any activities that disturb other guests.

@@PerfectVeganVacation I agree, specially if you had a conversation with them ahead of time. Quite the wrong approach then if that’s the case

You seems to be a lovely and very polite family who are sharing your experience in a “prominent” restaurant. If they have such a rude manager incapable to manage a simple situation, it’s their lost! Thank you for sharing 👍🏻

IF that was your feeling when he said it, you should have left on the spot. If a manager give you that choice they off course cannot charge you anything. Maybe would spoil the meal, but he already spoiled your experience. IF you prioritise eating at a Michelin restaurant you are allowed to have minimum expectations, hereunder not getting a loud lecture in public. Had he quietly told you that he thought you took up to much of the room, in relation to the other quests and either asked you to tone it down or stop, it clearly would not have spoiled your meal, at the most your production. Now you will have this bad experience unresolved with you. Had you left you at least had stood up for his behaviour. The owner then could have seen your review and the lack of income at the same time. I have experienced same behaviour in French speaking countries back when I had more money than language skills. Damn frogs! 🤣

Thank you for sharing your view. We considered leaving the restaurant but at the end we didn’t do it. Maybe it was our mistake, I don’t know… But what we know after that experience is that Michelin Star doesn’t mean that everything will be tiptop…

@@PerfectVeganVacation I felt it. We are humans and looking in the mirror, most of us have to admit we also have had days, where we had wrong foot out of the bed. If that person, that have a bad day, works as manager at a Michelin restaurant, he should, or maybe his co-workers should help him realise that, a day off would benefit the restaurant better, than him staying on job that day. I honestly believe the owner of the restaurant, that probably have worked hard for that star, will agree with me. Reg. if it was a mistake to leave or not, you should look into yourself´s and ask. Looking back, my own reflection, were that I should have left. And when I had a bad experience a second time, I left, quietly and with dignity I told that they overstepped my boundaries, well, my girlfriends, and whatever they would serve us thereafter, we would not be able to enjoy. Then I expressed my sorrow over having travelled 4000 Km for having such an experience. While we got our clothes, the people on each side of us asked to be given another waiter than the one that treated my girlfriend bad, so his behaviour had been noted by others as well. Both first and second experience were related to me/us not being able to speak French in a coherent manner. Later I lived in Bruxelles and realised that A LOT of French speaking people are language nazi´s. That is one thing, but no nazi´s allowed when you are a paying costumer at a high end restaurant. You and your child seem well behaved and mannered. He was more than overstepping his "authority". As an employee he failed his job. Going to high end restaurants comes, hopefully, with the ability to open your senses and your pallet and enjoy some return of the fruit of your labour. That is the exact time where you should be allowed to be relaxed and open, why an, uncalled for, confrontational behaviour are double inexcusable. If the experience still are in you, months after, you have your answer of what to do, should you ever have a similar experience. I would recommend Geranium in Copenhagen, with an all veggie menu now, but they just got voted best restaurant in the world so probably needs to be booked a year or so in advance. I was there just before the pandemic began to rock the world, not a all veggie menu then, and it was unforgettable. Outstanding! Waiters were a dream, extremely competent, explaining and pleasantly relaxed while doing it. Atmosphere so open that it felt like peoples souls floated in the room of pure joy of their experiences. I noticed your joy over small unique dishes. At Geranium they just keep coming each with 2-3 mouthful´s of wine that fits. On top it was not the most expensive restaurant I have eaten at but they and NOMA simply have so many unique tastes and dishes that the skill and creativity blows your mind and your pallet! One long foodgasm. Should you decide to go, and have luck to get a table, I though would urge you to do it on a "couple" day. Treat yourself.

@@Mike-zx1kx thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s a great pleasure to meet, also virtually, people with similar interests and passion for food :) NOMA is definitely on our list for next year but I think we have to come when the summer menu is served as I’ve heard in winter the menu is based on fish. I’ve also fought about Geranium but was not sure if they can offer vegan menu. In couple weeks there will be a video in our channel from Dinner by Heston Blumenthal which was a great experience although there was no vegan tasting menu, only a la carte. Next year we will also visit some Michelin restaurants in France. I’m very sorry that you had a bad experience in some French-speaking restaurants. I don’t speak French at all so I hope they will somehow forgive me this “defect”…. ;)

@@PerfectVeganVacation I will keep an eye after the Heston upload. Copenhagen in the summer, you cant go wrong. There are so many great foodie treats there and I personally love that city, open, clean, safe and things to watch and do everywhere. No one are bothering you, but if you say: "I am a tourist could you please help me with xxx", you will get a friendly and accommodating helpful answer. Two months ago I had a fun experience, that I will share, now you say you are going there. We, 3 middle aged, approaching older farts, had a fine summers-day to ourselves in Copenhagen. We had heard of and looked into a place called "Reffen", a spot with streetfood from around the world. It was a spot with predominantly younger people and rather "camp". We wanted to check it out and eat an early lunch. But ended with staying for 11 hours taking turns to go and find a full meal for one, from somewhere in the world and share it. All sorts of smoothies/drinks/juices made in front of you. Everything from open fire spicy barbecues to classic British fish and chips, key were, all of it were fresh and top standard yet streetfood. Area made up largely by cargo containers. It was a hot summer day with blue sky and sun high so we used the option to sit at the central "spot" with room for maybe 200 ish people many hours, later we spent rest of evening by the water drinking drinks from around the world and more meals and snacks while our pallets reminded us of travels from our life´s. Sitting there, under open sky, watching the sunset over Copenhagen while seeing people jump in and Copenhagen generally using their waterways, became a magical day and night. You could easily have a child there until around maybe 9 pm. where music and alcohol content began to be turned up. Toilet facilities were "young" and busy but had a cleaner working all the time. A good mix of local and global vibe. Yes, foodies need to share, had someone not told us, we would never have know. We found everything just from the name "Reffen" but just looked the address up for you (entrances a little hard for us to find initially, but flow of people guided us). Refshalevej 167, 1432 København. When it comes to Copenhagen they IMO have very little "in your face" marketing, in relation to what you see in some nations, when not in or around Town hall Square, something I personally appreciate, but also something that makes some research worth while. I never had seen any marketing related to "Reffen" despite relative frequently in Copenhagen. I will go there again. Have a great trip and good foodie experiences there. I cant say that I think the French have improved massively since my young twenties, but personally have experienced a massive difference after my French reached a fluent speaking level, so now YOU have to be the one telling me what you experience today. I will check in to see when you review them.

@@Mike-zx1kx I just googled “Raffen” and the place looks really unique on the pictures. We could make an interesting video there. I haven’t put Copenhagen on my traveling list for next year but you raised my curiosity so maybe we will visit this city sooner than I thought :) it looks like a great place for foodies and probably also for families. You really made me rethink our traveling plan for 2023.
