Also I think it's worth mentioning (I very rarely see people mention this run) that Plup made this a goal at Riptide 2021 by only going sheik, and very almost did it getting 2nd, beating KoDoRiN, SFAT (who is historically amazing against sheik and often makes Plup switch) and most importantly Hungrybox in the process. He only lost to iBDW in winners finals 2-3 and grands 1-3. This tournament was historic either way because it marked Cody's first major win, and I find it kinda sad because this tournament feels kinda buried.

Great video but sad that there wasn't even a mention of Kirbykaze. It wasn't for very long, but in 2011 ans 2012 KK looked like he might enter as the 6th God. He came up short and started falling off shortly after, but he came suuuper close to winning a major a few times.

Why are there so many people writing off jmooks accomplishment or the validity of this video? Saying oh X player did well with Sheik, and they won so many tournaments. Like yes, in the case of Sheik as a character, she's seen a lot of success with the help of tagging out to another character in tougher matchups. This video is about SOLO Sheik (regardless of match-up) and how jmook made it happen. It's not that crazy of a concept to grasp, lol. Anyway, it's a melee history making moment for Jmook and an amazing video. Keep it up, dude.

It is pretty crazy that solo Falcon and Yoshi won a super major before solo Sheik did; Wizzy and aMSa are insane grinders and punish game beasts. I honestly wanted leffen to beat hbox at Genesis 5 so that Plup could win that with solo Sheik, and once that didn't happen I was losing faith that it ever would happen since there were no solo Sheiks at the top 10 level. Thankfully Jmook graced us with his insane punish game on Fox and took down Genesis 9 (and Plup taking out hbox helped).

Honestly, the win at Genesis really just proves that the puff matchup *is* doom and gloom. The *one* tournament where a solo shiek doesn't run into a puff, and they take it all. I'm not super impressed, tbh. We all knew Shiek was a good character. That was never the question. It's just a matter of if someone can figure away to deal with puff well enough to actually win a major. We see a solo Shiek get past Hbox and *then* ill be impressed.

I’m a huge hbox fan when it comes to melee mostly due to the fact that fox/puff should be practically unwinnable if the fox is playing to their max potential but I have to say, if knoll had chosen to play fox or even maybe marth he would be as dominant as armada, I think he’s the most skilled in the top 10 and plays almost tas level in most sets it’s just that sheik/ puff is almost as polarizing as fox/puff and if he had that same timing and execution on a character that has no bad matchups or only slightly bad matchups he would be unbeatable

I don't agree with your opinion on the Fox/Puff matchup. People have been saying for forever if Fox plays optimal then Puff can't win, and that never happens. Because no one is ever max potential, especially at a high stakes tournament. All of the top players make mistakes. Plus, you can play against a Puff and get grabbed at 0% and rested can lose your stocks faster than anything, which happens a lot to even the best of them. Unless you're using Bowser, there's no point in framing the competitive experience as unwinnable. It takes away from when the good players win, like moky just played a lot better and is why he ended up beating Hbox at Genesis 9.
