I watched the original review on the orange one. I thought it was kind of neat, the design wasn’t super appealing to me but I could see the function. Then I saw the price, and I was like, “I’ll stick to a pocket knife.” Anyway, cool knife just a little pricey to me.

EDC is capturing most of my attention these days. I love the big ones (insert joke), but I get to actually use my smaller knives every day. Kizer Muskrat in 154cm and Outdoor Element Scout Feather VG10 are my two fixed go-to's. Kizer Lieb M is my favorite folder.
@orangerider2827Ай бұрын
I love Tj Schwarz knives. I got a confidante thanks to you for showing me his work. It's a great knife. I wish the handle scales were a bit thicker sometimes, but then it would feel too bulky probably haha pros and cons. Everyone is complaining about price. I think his stuff is extremely reasonably priced. Highend steel that's heat treated better than any other knives I've seen, and it's made in the usa from a small maker. Oh, and you can customize basically everything you want about the knife, and it doesn't cost more. It just takes time! I think that's rather incredible personally.

You're one of the only guys doing this that I don't mind when you throw a commercial promo into your videos. I swear, I'm not being sarcastic, you guys gotta make a living and this is how that gets done. Don't change. At least you're not pushing FanDuel or some evil gambling trope on your viewers, it's almost always just more useful gear.. But, here we are watching a cool knife vid, and then you're like "Oh, my shirt? Glad you asked. No problem. It's LA Police Gear, and it's cozy as heck.. anyway, back to this Schwartz.." and I find it hilarious and super genuine how you just blend it right in. You're the man, Aaron..

G'day Aaron, dunno if there's a proper knife term for it, but I do like when the edge is lower than the bottom of the handle line i.e. like a kitchen knife, great for cutting on a surface. The sweep on this one would help in that respect too. Main thing for me on this size is control, which it appears to have in spades. Yep like the sheath/clip too, very versatile.I dont often say it, but the camo looks very cool also. Its still a bit small for a secondary on the trail IMO, though car camping, EDC it'd be a winner for sure. Its quite a buy once cry once proposition, though with the build out options at least you get as close to perfect as possible for your hard earned dough. Cheers Duke.

A small knife can, often, take on the tasks of a large knife, easier than a large knife can do the small knife's job. And I'm a veteran chef, who uses a 10" chef's knife for almost everything. But, a 3" paring knife is my no. 2, because some things just cannot be done with a big knife.
@jusme806021 күн бұрын
So glad people are finally giving us the geometry that takes advantage of these super steels. It pisses me off when you get a 3v knife that's just as thick as a tops 1095 knife. Wouldn't you want to take advantage of that extra toughness and get better geometry? This knife is super thin bte. Love it. The sheath is a bit weird for use with an ulti clip though.

If its that small I'll just use a folder (like the new Kizer Bulldog) and for what he's asking I loose even more interest (that's Benchmade levels of crazy IMO although much better made then garbage-tier Benchmade) . 40+ years hunting, camping, working and playing in the backcountry I've never found a need for these small fixed blades that are suddenly all the rage. Schwartz REALLY needs to make a 4" version of the Confidante IMO and offer them in 3V or K390, something other then _Magnacut_ cause I'm not as blown away by the stuff as everyone else seems to be.

I’m a big fan of that blade shape. Very closely resembles the Chris Reeve Insingo design. At that price point (Sport or full-size Overland), what are your thoughts in comparison to the Buck Alpha Elite 663, Chris Reeve Backpacker, and MKC TF42 (or any others you recommend)? I believe the MKC is quite a bit more $ than the rest mentioned.

I started out carrying a medium sized fixed blade then I switched to a smaller version because I realized that I could do everything a larger knife can and more with a smaller knife since I switched from my larger knife it's been 4 years now that I've been carrying a smaller blade and i don't think i can go back to my larger knife

@InGratitudeIamАй бұрын
Very tempting. How does this compare to the Reiff Circadian?
@gideonstacticalАй бұрын
Circadian is excellent. I would say it is definitely a bulkier carry and not precise a tip. This has more precision tip for piercing and much easier to carry because it’s slimmer in the pocket. The reiff is better for harder outdoor use and or hiking and camping.
@sjohnson48824 күн бұрын
Thanks. The choice was an issue for me.
@alexmalloy3273Ай бұрын
How do you feel this compares to the reiff circadian? I know the circadian is a little bigger with fuller handles but these 2 designs speak to me the most. Talking all around woods and edc. Thanks!
@gideonstacticalАй бұрын
Man that is tough. The sport is more low profile, less pocket space, and pointier tip. If you like bigger blade then that would be the one, if you want more precision and ease of carry the sport

@Swearengen1980Ай бұрын
Here it comes, queue the "Cost way too much" from the crowd you are either poor and jealous or can't comprehend that you get what you pay for. Magnacut is expensive because it's the most well balanced steel. Small businesses will often by more expensive than mass produced companies, no they can't compete with the price of a 1095 ESEE, it's not reasonable to expect it to. And a company who gets the heat treat of magnacut right, these $250-$350 knives are not at all overpriced if you actually put them to work.
@gideonstacticalАй бұрын
You nailed it. So many people don’t understand value in handcrafted goods.
@Swearengen1980Ай бұрын
@@gideonstactical It's like going to an Arts & Crafts festival, finding a ceramics artist who hand crafts and decorates each mug and expecting to pay the price of a mass produced chinese mug from walmart.

@@farfromtheheart Well shit dude, that's inflation. I'm more pissed at $90 at the grocery store every 3-4 days than 1 time purchases going up 25-30%. Everything is absurd right now. However, magnacut prices have stayed steady. MKC's prices have remained consistent, for example. Some folks price gouge for their products, personally I think Tops and Benchmade are good examples of that.
