Are those Synchronous Condensor generators always kept running just in case? are you able to film the start up or running operation of one?

@Turbocharge1000 the syncs work differently, they are there to support a short circuit and provide vars +/- on the system.

@joewoodchuck3824 yes sir. Fans and radiators aid with that. Older transformers used to pump oil, but now it's just convection with the fans and radiators.

Properly maintained, newer, not subject to solar storms, will not exploded. I have seen two 500kv transformers explode. Also, a 500kv transformer has up to 7-ton of wood inside and will burn for weeks.

@dwayne7356 that's why we keep the oxygen out and monitor for acetylene/hydrogen 👍

These transformers are ( VERY , VERY noisy ! ) ... when initially tested in their factory ( without the oil bath ) ... SO noisy it hurts your ears😝 ... the hum you hear is from the oil dampening the sound ...... DAVE™🛑
