I travel up to 130k airline miles a year and live in performance/travel denim. I’ve tried a lot and have two favorites for their sheer comfort: 1. UNIQLO EZY Jeans (basically sweat pants) 2. Bonobos Summer Weight Jeans (I prefer these over their actual JetSetter & Travel Jeans).

Interesting. I was going to say that in my experience stretch denim doesn't last but is comfortable like you said but my issue with the selvedge denim is most you don't wash regularly, it's a special process and that seems nasty to me. Looking forward to the round up to find a good inbetween.
@anachronismic5 жыл бұрын
Bradley Stroup that’s raw denim, and really it’s just wash the jeans and air dry when they need it lol. People go extra with it but it’s fine to just be kinda normal with it.
@wilsjane4 жыл бұрын
Not washing jeans is juts a stupid urban legend. Dirt. particularly grit and sand can tear the denim apart, particularly in the crotch area where they flex as you walk. I dry them naturally, rather than cooking them in a drier and they last longer than my idiot friends dirty smelly jeans. A buildup of bacteria can also eat through cotton, just like mold Washing the jeans inside out can reduce the fading and a milder detergent also helps. A small amount of starch every so often also helps retain the fabric, but if they turn into a limp rag, I avoid the brand in the future.

Jeans these days don't last. I bought a pair of APC raw selvedge denim 10yrs ago (made in Vietnam). Wore them for a couple years then the crotch blew out. 4 yrs ago I bought a pair of raw selvedge denim from J Crew. Says Japanese Kaihara denim but the inner label says "Made in China"....these jeans fell apart very quickly. The threads started unraveling, the crotch ripped in less than a year! I bought a pair of Levi's 501's (made in Egypt) and in less than 6 months, the crotch blew out. Hey, but a few years ago I pulled out a pair of Levi's 501's that I had from the 80's that were raw shrink-to-fit (Made in the USA). I wore them very seldomly back when they were new but started wearing them for the past 4 years on and off and they've faded into a nice dark deep blue after a few washes. The past year, these have been my daily jeans and yet they are still sturdy as ever. The crotch has not blown out like all these expensive designer jeans selvedge jeans that I've tried and these jeans cost about $30 back in the day. What's up with the cheap quality with denim these days? These 501's are about 30yrs old too!
@Hypee5595 жыл бұрын
Are the older jeans the same fit as the ones you’ve been buying recently? Perhaps you’re buying too tight, or doing something that expedites the process, because I have a pair from Levi’s that I’ve had for 6-7 years and they’re still going strong.
@mkryu5 жыл бұрын
@@Hypee559 the older 501's are more snug in the butt and thigh than the newer ones and higher waisted. Maybe these newer denim tends to rip easier because they're lighter weight denim? The 80's 501s are rather thick. They were fuzzy when they were dark but the fuzz is gone and now the fade and texture is very nice.
@wilsjane4 жыл бұрын
@@mkryu The old type 501's were awesome and lasted forever. Back in my student days, we used them to stub our cigarettes out when getting on a bus or walking into a shop and it never left a mark on the denim. Even burning loose frays and threads off did not set the denim alight. Did yo notice that yours were virtually fireproof and not damaged by sparks and embers.?

Too slim for me. Looks like jeggings. What's the point of hidden pockets if they are so tight as to outline everything in your pockets? What kind of dumb trend is this of relating stretch with comfort? If you need your clothes to be stretchy in order for them to be comfortable, then they are too tight. Wear something looser and roomier so that you can move around much better in your clothes, rather than glorified leotards. And there's nothing comfortable about wearing synthetic, petrochemicals filled clothes. They get too hot, itchy and stinky, especially when traveling, because synthetic fabrics are horrible at absorbing sweat.
