On today's DNVR Buffs Podcast, RK and Jake discuss Travis Hunter's new position on defense. After Day 8 of spring football, cornerbacks' coach Kevin Mathis shared that Hunter has been working more out of the slot and the reason why Travis has been moved inside. Coach Mathis also shared an update on Cormani McClain. Preston Hodge and D.J. McKinney have been making a name for themselves at spring football and today we got McKinney on the podium for the first time as a Buff. Just because people ask, don’t have to feed into the “ Where is Waldo”, comments! Cormani in his recent video admitted that college is different from high school and he simply has a lot to learn still. He played off of raw talent, now he has to learn technique and get to 180 plus pounds. Travis needs to put on weight and strength as well, receivers was running through his jams without a problem. If he doesn’t put on weight, he’s going to be drafted as a slot receiver, and maybe corner when he gets bigger stronger!

Travis has a hyper personality. He probably has to combat having a high metabolism as well. He’s an energizer bunny and can run all day, so getting and keeping may be hard for him. He may have a David Robinson build.

No one knows what is going on with or in Cormani's life. It's easy to say what should be, what could be and what's it's going to be. At the end of the day God knows what he has in store for Cormani. Just like we are saying we Believe in Colorado Buffs. Keep believing in Cormani and speak positivity. Just as we would want someone to believe in each one of us. We don't know why he wasn't there and it really isn't our business.

Bruh. I swear I’m working on not commenting on BS. But I have too. You guys need to relax. Ones that never played don’t understand the dynamics of being a COLLEGE STUDENT ATHLETIC. Cormani is a kid that has a lot of pressures on him. He’s been asked to be transition from a kid to a grown man instantly. It doesn’t happen like that for every kid. Lastly, most catz thought talk don’t even have there stuff together as a grown man but talk negatively on a 18 yr old to get it lol. How ironic.

Travis will play out side. Cormani and Mckinee will rotate at the other spot. Hodge and Cooper will play the slot. The best two safeties will play.

In college, I think the slot plays to Travis skill set more than a pure outside corner. He's an athlete that plays with instincts, the move highlights his versatility. Similar to how the offense has used him.

Also, it’s not that new to have your best DB in the nickel (slot is a WR position. Not a defensive position.). You can go back to Antrel Rolle at Miami, nearly 25 years ago, Mike Huff, Tarell Brown, & Aaron Ross, at Texas, 20-25 years ago. Jalen Ramsey & Derwin James at FSU. Minkah and a bunch of other guys at Bama.

It makes 100% sense that Travis would primarily be the nickel. Why? Because as a 2 way player, you know he’s splitting time. If you have him on the outside, you’re having lesser DB than him moving in and out. By having him inside, he splits time with Cam SC, while Hodge and DJ focus on perfecting their performance on the outside. In other words, the DBs all get to focus on one position.

It's easy to speculate and judge a player when no one knows the story. It would have been better if there was openess & honesty up front. Even a simple explanation would have eliminated all the talk. It helps no one when it is so secretive but sometimes there are issues one faces, you don't want in public. You may not want pity, embarresment or mental stress. Sometimes you just don't feel you can talk about what you are facing. I can relate, I've been there. I wish him the best & hope all goes well for him.

I am going to trust Coach Prime judgment not to openly commenting on the Cormani let’s call it dilema. Correct me if I am wrong but in college the coaches do not have to divulge injuries to players. I am going to break a rule of not commenting about something I don’t know for certain, however, my gift of “reading “people tells me Cormani has difficulty with academics.

I’ve met many cormanis before. He’s not changing until it’s too late and then he will be that “could have been”. It’s sad but there have been many before him like that and many after. Everybody can say what they want I don't think DJ or the other comnerback is better than Mc Lain . We will see 👀 at the end of the day everybody is just guessing unless & nobody can foretell the future, until you get on the field and play cornerback at the power of 5 level position you can't say anything about McClain because you can't play that position either. There's a lot of pressure being a young man much less playing cornerback in college, he'll be okay everybody just needs to relax, and just wait and see what happens instead of making assumptions. But that's just my opinion😮😮😮😮😮😎.💯

What did Cormani do? Does anyone really know? Maybe you guys know, but enlighten us? He has been in the videos like all of the other players and he was with the team? He just hasn't dressed out. Where was this energy for all of the players that left the program? Whatever it is, it wasn't bad enough to get kicked off of the team.
