@Michael Snyder I write a script and before I record I have some friends read it and fact check it. I've made enough videos to know about what length my videos will be. So for an 8 minute video like this, it's about 1700 words. 2000 words or so will get me to 10 minutes but I don't want to pad out my videos. I'll only go to 10 minutes if I think I have enough to say. I use a blue yeti mic, which is pretty standard for KZbinrs.

I get it.... but he also made 1.2 million off a 65k flip. If he hadn’t shuffled the cards in front of Garnet. Garnet would’ve blew the finals. There’s a lot to unpack. Sure Adam took a new bet. Adam Sandler really holds the film together. While the story and other characters are fantastic, it is Sandler’s performance that is the glue to the film. Had anyone else play the part, sure they would have been good. I read how Jonah Hill was considered for the part at a time when the Safdie brothers wanted to make this film years ago, but he was not interested in the film at the time, but they made Good Time and put this film on hold. Hill is a great actor and I’m sure would have been good in the role, but Sandler is perfect as Howard. Without the best actor for the part, the film would have not been as good as it is. To me, Sandler deserved an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, as did Robert Pattinson for The Lighthouse. I rank these two performances incredibly high among the best of last year. They’re just as good as Joaquin Phoenix in Joker, if not better at times. Obviously which performance is the best is clearly subjective, but Uncut Gems really shines as bright as it does because of Sandler. While many see him as an comedic actor known for being loud and angry in many of his films, Sandler is able to be dramatic and serious, even in some of his best known comedies. Sandler is really a fantastic actor, this film helps show how much range he has. Thank you for this video man. This is really great!

Uncut gems is so relatable. Even if youve never gambled a day in your life. All these things will pile up. Everything you are running from and avoiding will catch up to you, and if you dont STOP yourself, itll kill you more or less. If you find yourself being able to relate to Howie during the movie, you should think long and hard about why that is. So genius how the movie just drops in on a random day of Howie's. Gives you the sense that his entire life has been this way, and if he hadnt been killed, it would have been just another long weekend for him. Edit: Also, to my people struggling with addiction in any form, it is so important to remember why julia fox's character is totally sinister in the long run. She completely enables him throughout the entire movie and actually rewards him when he goes further down into his illness. Be very wary of enablers, man or woman, whether they look as good as julia or not.

Julia fox's character never cheated on Howard. On the streets she shouts how they both knew and agreed that she'll have to do this stuff to get more clients. She doesn't let The Weeknd touch her and is shown to be genuinely in love with Howard, to the degree that she's willing to run from goons with the betting money. The reason they had the fight was because Howard was overloaded with problems and his insecurity about self-worth had the final kick with seeing Julia with another guy. He snapped and forgot about his agreement with her and the trust they had. She is the only person in the movie who genuinely cares about Howard, not even Howard himself.

Thanks for the cinematographic and casting details, makes a lot of sense. I feel like a huge part of this films induced feelings is its sound design. Everything in this film is struggling on multiple levels, not just what's on camera but what's coming through it. The detail about the opal escaped me, but its important. I understood that quest for glory when Harold was negotiating with KG that last time for the set up of his last bet. Why do you think the goon killed Harold in the end?

After i watched Spring Breakers last night, i felt that Uncut Gem is how Spring Breakers could and should have looked like. (Sure, two movies have very different themes and plots but i saw Uncut Gem's strength is exactly the weakness of Spring Breakers)

Bro it's like you read my mind. I get what Korine was going for in Spring Breakers, but he's one of those filmmakers who can't help themselves with their preoccupations as such over-indulge themmselves. So o could never really latch on to the story. The Safdies however take themselves out of the equation and leave the audience in a dark alley to find their way out. I prefer the latter.

I could tell by the look on Phil's face inside the plastic barrier at the end that he was gonna kill Ratner. He had already seen his partner get bit by Ratner, thrown him around and punched him enough, and drawn his gun once. The look on his face while waiting inside the barrier said, "Fuck this." He lost it from there, killing the boss too in all the madness. Overall, just an insane thrill ride. Epic movie.

My body shrugged off a lot of the anxiety in this film to really get a feel of the world and the characters, however it's so fast paced and stressful that you keep being on the edge of your seat. There's 20 different climaxes that culminate in the energy brought throughout the whole film

There is a lot of jump cut edits in Uncut Gems. Howard (Adam Sandler's charactor) is always moving except for when he is behind the counter in his jewelery store. He's always being followed by his brother in law Arno's heavy's so the tension comes from that, the fast pace, the jump cuts and the way the film is shot. There are times when the score seems out of place, as if written for a different film. Yet, it is also very good for adding the tension. I didn't see many new films this year but Uncut Gems must have been one of the best.

Great point regarding how KG and Ratner view the rock. The main difference here is that Ratner views the rock from BEHIND the veil of wealth whereas KG has no need for it, therefore he is "free" to view it spiritually. He is not burdened by greed.

The games needed to be in close proximity to NY, so it would make sense for him to be in the diamond district so often anyway. Although, to your point, I'm sure any Boston team was already playing several games in the general New England area since it is fairly broad.

I really don't care if I offend anybody by saying this. But you honestly deserve way more views and subscribers than Jeremy jahns. Have you seen his review on it? 3 minutes and 33 seconds I believe. Nothing full of a whole lot of nothing. Yours is around five minutes longer in right away I already feel like you're giving me so much more quality content than him. I feel like the term movie review has just become who can put out a video after seeing the movie the fastest and talk about it for about a couple minutes. Just to get views. You're actually going in-depth and I can tell that you actually care about movies in general. Or at least I think so that's the vibe you're I'm giving off that is. And I appreciate that.
