Watched this movie while recovering in the hospital, as soon as the movie started I didn’t concentrate on pain or anything I just watched the story unfold with an insanely high bpm, open eyes and heavy anxiety. I loved every second of it, this is what a movie should be. I was sucked into it from the start and forgot everything around me. I felt extremely relieved when it ended and the anxiety stopped but I wanted to watch it again immediately … had never seen a movie like this before and probably never will.

Your comment at the end about how, for him, the thrill is seeing how close he fly to the sun, immediately made of the third dynamic of this movie which is his family life. He has the apartment, is separated, obviously things aren't great. But then the scene where his son has to go to the bathroom when they're driving home. You can feel Howard's anxiety and tension when he realizes his son might see his assistant he's having an affair with. I haven't want he'd in a while, but that just made me wonder, does Howard's wife not know about his affair? Is this another way that he tests how close he can get to the sun?

this movie was one of the worst times watching a movie I've ever had, but that's cause they told the story really really well. Many of my family are addicts, and my best friend spiraled into addiction many years ago. I've never seen a more accurate depiction of it, and just how fast you can dig your own grave. It hit so close to home it was truly awful for me to sit through, with the ending being something I worry about a lot coming for the people around me. Definitely should've won oscars!
