The best universal cages to me are the ones with optical mounts where you can attach a DOF adapter, filters ,tele, wide and anamorphic lenses. So the top 2 for me is the BeastGrip Pro Cage and the DreamGrip Pro.
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
Yeah those are both great and I purposely didn’t include them here because they are different… While they are universal they’re more advanced and they’re also more expensive. But I agree they are nice and good options. I use a Beastgrip Pro pretty often.

Smooth 5 is heavier than others. It is not titanium, because expensive and not easy to work with that material for most countries.

I don't like the Smallrig Fold P10. You cannot use an Anamorphic or Ultra Wide lens without cropping in the video. Because the phone is set behind the handles you can see the handle or your hand holding the handle in wide shots.
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
Haven’t tested the anamorphic but I have used the Ultra Wide and in my experience I simply slid the phone to the right and it seemed to work fine. But if the phone is centered up you can see the edge of the rig or your hand.

In September 2019 I purchased a Ulanzi ST-03 Metal Smart Phone Tripod Mount Stand Bracket Holder w/ HOT SHOE. It is plastic, has three cold shoe mounts, and no hot shoe mount. I still have it and use it mounted on a tripod. Ulanzi promised a discount on my next purchase. I have not been back.
@iphoneographers2 жыл бұрын
So you’re saying it was advertised to have a hot shoe? That’s definitely weird. That would only be on a camera. I think I have that mount or a similar one (all metal) and it’s held up pretty well though.

Excellent review video. At around 6:00 min an over text says, “Also, can’t use filters”. I get it, but am not sure exactly why you can’t. I have the Moment filter adaptors (67mm) for various filters. Is it because the rig edge is too close or protrudes? Will my Moment 67mm filters work? Thanks.

Yes exactly, the edges are very tight and so there’s no real room. You might be able to if adding it to a lens that sticks out from the body though.

@@iphoneographers in your opinion, as I've never been exposed to any of the ones you showed nor the beast grip pro as far as Irl use, which would you pick for your 'daily driver' so to speak? I'm using a 14 pro max currently but probably will be on the s25 ultra as soon as the drop of it happens. I will be pairing it with a Zhiyun crane 2 Gimbal I got lucky and scored for $50 and a few bucks of sales tax but mainly will all be used for shooting the online ads my business runs. I edit them so why not get this added to the inhouse sufficency right? :) thinking ima get the anamorphic 1.37x for a start then a dof MK3 and some lenses after this in a half a year or so if feeling like it is saving me enough :)

Nice video. I started to film rc airplanes a while ago, and I am looking for a phone rig with 2 handles, but I am overwelmed for say the least. It seems that all have some pros and cons and I don't know if get a foldable to have in the pocket or a bigger one to keep in the trunk or backpack. The ergonomy filming planes on the sky is quite terrible with bare promax size phone in one hand. I really don't care about buttons and stuff tho, I would use the phone's touch buttons. Did you try film something fast, that requires you to follow the subject? What rig would you chose for that mattr? Thnx.

I’d probably say the SmallRig Universal with the handles would be a good option. It’s probably the most solid and the handles are great and can be used on really any cage.
