Ha, Winnie! I am breaking protocol for you. First time commenting on KZbin. I never comment but just have to. My son mentioned yesterday he didn't want jollof rice but white rice. I probed him further, he reluctantly told me the jollof rice he takes in school is better than mine..ha. Initially the African mother in me wanted to arise but Holy Spirit said I should listen to him. Few hours later I was on KZbin and it was your post about this video I saw. Hmm what a coincidence some may say but I knew it was divine. I tried the recipe as per the pepper/tomatoes/onion ratio, water, everything. The outcome was amazing! The boy I usually force to eat my jollof rice took 3 servings! ...he said Mummy the rice looks like and smells like the school rice, even better. My heart is full Winnie and I want to share my heartfelt thank you.

Okay so I just had to throw in my comment. I've been struggling with making Jollof rice for a very long time now. I've watched a lot of videos about making Jollof rice but nothing as detailed as this. Just yesterday I stumbled on this video watched and even wrote down some notes. I bought all the Ingredients and today I tried this method and OMG it was a huge success. Everyone has been asking how I got the recipe to make the rice because for the first time I got it right! I made the rice an hour ago and its almost finished. This video legit helped me! It works you guys!!!! Buy all the ingredients and take note of the little details. Especially when you spoke about cooking on low heat! My God that was a game changer. Thank you zee you are amazing! This helped me a lot, I hope to try other amazing recipes from you. Please guys pay attention to the details! I can still smell the aroma of the rice I cooked all over the house damn!

You know the medium size tin tomatoes? I use one tin of the tomato to 4 cups/measures of this same medium tin. I hope I made sense. I don't use fresh tomatoes most of the time. For a richer color, you can go for red bell peppers or spicity. Then add your favorite spices as desired. And be generous with the onions. 😀😀 Cheers🎉

Thank you so much for this video. Previously I have really struggled to get that perfect jollof rice. I tried all these techniques you shared and the jollof rice turned out so great. It was a banger. Every other video just tells about the process but this video talks about the real secrets in getting that perfect jollof rice. Thank you again.

This is the best recipe I have tried snd it’s my go- to for Jollof rice. You are on point with the use of so many red peppers and now I understand why the juicy red color happens. Also, the red onion really does this dish justice. Thank you for explaining the why’s and why nots to make the perfect Jollof rice. I’m snowed in today in Ohio in the US , so I will make some fried chicken and this dish to warm my soul😁

I’m married to a Yoruba and I always thought I’ve achieved Jollof until I taste it cooked authentically. Then I always feel like something’s missing in mine. I’m excited to try these techniques!

@@Tiktok_Reddit roasting my peppers first and adding ginger and roasted garlic/using meat stock changed the game for me. Can’t remember if those steps are in this video tho..lol

I've never had Jollof rice, but I've seen it in commercials. I also just watched this cooking show on CLEO TV and this lady from Ghana made it with lamb, and another one using a different grain (I don't remember the name). That jollof rice with that lamb looked so damn good! She also did the fold over the rice to let the steam keep the rice moist. Winnie is cooking hers differently than the lady in the video. I think they're from different parts of Africa,, but either way I'm trying this and I've subscribed to this channel! What I really love is Winnie's breakdown to help build up the flavors and color of jollof.

I saw that episode too and it made me want to make jollof rice. It seems very similar to what we ate alot of as a child which is red rice.... mmmmmm

Thank you for this video. I made jollof for the first time last night but prepping and watching this video helped me to know what to look for. My rice was amazing. I’m calling it jollof inspired because I added Mexican seasoning to go with the birria tacos I made
