serioush I know I'm suuuuper late, but you are correct, sir or madam. Platinum is my favorite developer, by a mile. A couple of their licensed games are duds but they do what they gotta do to stay afloat. They're a private studio, that doesn't own any of their ip's, so sometimes they have to take what they can get. I still love them, though. One of the few studios that make fun, hyper ambitious games with deep combat mechanics and great controls. All while retaining that feeling that games used to give us as a child. Platinum 4 LIFE!

I'm not personally into shooters, be it first person or third person, but this game was fucking amazing. The speed of the action was unlike anything I've played before. This game is over the top and awesome. Such a damn shame that it ended in a cliffhanger and will most likely never get a sequel. Mikami said that he won't be directing any more games, and the game sold like crap. Sega thought Alien Isolations sales were disappointing even thought it sold 2 million, so you can imagine what they think of this game.

I remember finishing this on god hard a few years back now and my Christ, the difficulty earns its name. The last fight with the two bogeys was absolute pain. I’ll always adore this game and it’ll always be one of my all time favourites. There’s still no game for me that’s managed to capture the same type of high frantic but incredibly fun shooter gameplay like this one did.

Yeah, God of War is more of a spectacle brawler, though. Most of the combat in it is rolling around, keeping a massive combo going while staying just out of the enemy's reach. Vanquish is much more involved, and seeing a perfect section of gameplay go out the window because you missed a single QTE is painful as hell. Comparing something with frame precision gameplay like DMC 3 (royal guard, for instance) and Vanquish to something with loads of dial-a-combo is bizzare, since even it's creator David Jaffe has admitted God of War wasn't created to have a deep combat system, it was made to let people feel like they were in an awesome Greek epic. To simplify things: keep QTE's where they belong. In cinematic games reliant on setpieces and showcases, rather than deep, punishing gameplay.
