He said he was going to atomize buu, that was a big clue if you know how fission(not fusion) works in a dying star, the particles in his body ran out of energy to hold its' bonds and was forced into becoming nothing but pure dead carbon Similar to Naruto's Baryon mode when he said "my body feels like lead"....he was literally going to turn into lead if it wasn't for Karuma deciding to burn out his energy first before Narutos' did (the reason why that poor fox turned into ash Infront of Naruto)

I think it’s cause all characters in dragon ball have ki and that energy is what keeps them alive so that’s why no character in this multiverse is born with a zero energy level and all of vegeta’s ki gone nothing was keeping him alive so that’s why he turned to stone it to ash

I really wish I could find it again, but I *know* I've seen a manga panel of this scene that was more gruesome than usual. I don't remember if Vegeta was left as a charred skeleton or just an incomplete 'skin' of black ash (as opposed to being whole and white so he looked like a statue), but I am certain that such a panel exists. I think I originally found it on TVTropes, but for the life of me I can't dig it up again with a Google search.

I remember a moment in Homer's Odyssey. When Odysseus drops to his knees and picks up the ashes from the fire and throws it over his body. And in that moment he realizes his smallness. That all titles and moments of great achievement were worthless if used to magnify your mistakes. It was made in ashes to "resurrect". And so to come home and assume your role.

When I used to watch dragon ball z when I was younger I always hated vegeta but this scene actually made me cry and begin to like vegeta his last goodbye to trunks as he gives him a hug followed by his little monologue was just perfect and it really seemed like they where setting it up for vegeta to be gone forever of course he came back but at the time it seemed like that was it for him the buu ark isn’t as good as it’s predecessor’s but it does have its moments

There's one problem with it being ash tho: He stays on the air long enough for a bit of lightning to crackle in the aftermath, which proves it isn't a freeze frame. Even when he falls (which has more than enough wind power to blow away any ash before he hits the ground. This means that he probably turned into something that's like stone when held together, but like dust or ash when not. Whatever that may be, the leftover ki held Vegeta's body together until it fizzled out since there was no body to hold it in.

My theory is that vegeta used every single bit of his ki and that’s why he was shouting and made a super sayien ki bomb (like when goku s finger turned into super sayien in cell saga while fighting future trunks) and than finally used his soul in bomb so than he was not able to move and bomb was so bad that it turned fire at 1 point and so that’s why his body was cream acted and turned into ashes and why he dint became ashes in super when he made that bomb again is because he was god and only used super sayien ki and as we know that ssb is much more powerful than normal super sayien his body was able to absorb the blast

Ig a theory: Vegeta turned to ashes because his majin mark. Dabura has a majin mark too, which probably gave him the ability to turn people to stone. Vegeta had a majin mark, but he cant turn things into stone. He used every ounce of energy he had left in his body, therefore leaving only the majin power, which made an encasing of stone(ashes but shut up) around his body, which then disappeared, leaving only the stone/ashes In dbs, he has probably 69 trillion times more energy than he did in dbz, so he had 68 trillion times more energy to use :)

Vegeta most definitely turns to ask here not stone I used think for years he turned to stone but he didn’t.
