venture capitalists want stability in their investments. and outside of north america, in world football, teams don't move cities, and fans are loyal for life. football fans don't switch allegiance based on who is winning.

So they're banking on the fact that the fans are sheep essentially, supporting random teams they have zero connection and gain absolutely nothing from, pathetic

What American MLS owners don't seem to understand is interest in their league globally will never develop to rival the European big leagues unless they setup a two tier system with promotion and relegation. The global audience has generations invested in the jeopardy and hence we are just not going to pay to watch MLS. Messi is a short term uptick once he's retired it's a downhill spiral I'm afraid unless they change the model

While pro/rel is common in other parts of the world, the home markets for the MLS (North America) in all of their other sports do not have that system and it works well for them and in fact those other leagues have been able to sell themselves on the competitive nature of their leagues where you can go from the bottom of the league to the top which at best rarely happens in those other leagues.

Fully agree, the MLS system won't be a competitor to the top leagues whilst it's a closed shop rigged system. MLS-1 and MLS-2 will improve the quality immensely.

honestly the Americans don't care. Americans love their oligarchs and pay them handsomely their fiefdom tax. Americans will pay to support their local football team without the pyramid system, even if they are garbage whilst Europeans and rest of the world remain better. and that's all they care about. there's enough money inside America to make mediocre American football profitable for them. but outside of the franchise top 50 clubs, no one else will make money in usa from football. and no one else will watch them. Just like rest of the world doesn't watch the other American sports.

Even if they setup promotion and relegation, it will never rival it, ever!, or even come remotely close

@@zacharyhoyte493The lack of pro/rel hurts the competitive thus the entertainment aspect of football. A Ipswich against Luton at the end of the season is a final. It's so exciting because of the fear of heading down a tier. Liga MX just left the European model and it's hurt in attendance. The MLS Will never be as competitive because top tier please will never choose to come here unless to retire.

At 6:53, he gives the game away. "17 home games does not a season make. We're in the merchandising business, the food and beverage business." Anything but the game on the pitch. Sports, for the fans, has probably first and foremost been about entertainment. But soccer outside of the US is linked more to a city or regional identity. It's closer to the college football fanbase, in my opinion. When you see venture capitalist try to turn a profit on the next big thing, that's normal. It will also blow up the top leagues. Put them on steroids. You are already seeing the monopolization of clubs. Global brands and farm teams. Feeder teams if you like. Football teams were never about making a profit. Hopefully the game will survive the narcotic infusion of money.

They will destroy football passion, if they try making it American for higher profits.

The main contribution would be more investiment in academies all over the world, mainly in Africa and Latin America, but also in USA, Canada, Asia, Oceania, Middle East and even Russia! Right now less than 1% of world talent is developed, so football can be so much better in future if money is properly applied . . .

High risk high reward. I believe that US investors have a lot to gain. However, ROI looks good before 2026 WC. Post 2026, you need to have a strategy whereby fans are engaged and want more. A good 25+ year strategy would have a WC back in the USA

The only Risk these people are taking is if they can get access to the levelling up fund in the U.K. They invest a little of their own capital and then apply for money from the British governments levelling up fund. The British government paid for Wrexhams improvements not Ryan renolds! The whole idea is inflate the value sell it on. if you think anything else you need to research more into where the actual money has come from for these clubs improving and stadiums refurbishing

Easy business model. Take over, cut costs via layoffs and other measures, then raise tickets prices. Profit. All at the expense of real fans.

Welcome to Spurs - Levy was ahead of the curve. The new stadium is designed to suck more money out of people and be a destination outside of home games. Fans are getting disillusioned because they feel less part of the club and more like consumer units to be mined.

Well it’s quite a low risk strategy really isn’t it, invest a little bit yourself and then apply to the U.K. government for almost £30 million from the levelling up fund, spend the 30 million on improving the club and sell it on at its new valuation after the 30 million pound influx of tax payers money

"the other type of football" ... "soccer teams" ... Is this a video that was first shown on US cable network bla bla TV? Or are you completely misunderstanding what KZbin is? KZbin is a global audience and so is the sport FOOTBALL! Don't call it soccer and what is this "other type of football" you talk about?
