Monterey Car Week is the most insane 'real 'life' car show I've ever seen. One evening I parked next to a perfect Bentley Blower (1929? 1930?), and I was about to get out of my rental car, a 300 SL convertible parked on the other side... I basically saw more rare and amazing cars just driving down the road in a week than I would have if I visited every major automobile museum in the world. Ironically, my favorite car all of all time is the 540K Special Roadster (with the 'duckbilled platypus' covered tail, which hides the spare tire in the rear and of which only 6 were made).

I daily a VW Sportwagen TDI manual but I love having a SUV and truck. I have a Silverado 3500 for towing and truck stuff and a Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel for bad weather, little more room, and when I just have to sit in traffic and want to be comfortable. My sister had always driven a car and planned on getting another car but when her car started acting up she drove my mom's Town & Country then my Grand Cherokee. She doesn't care about vehicles but after sitting up higher that's her highest priority on what's she's buying soon. I love driving my cars but I completely understand the SUV and Truck demand.

That Z4 touring would be interesting. The only "current" BMW i would actually contemplate about buying if it were around the pricepoint of the "normal" Z4. (As someone with severe Pollen allergies, cabriolets are useless to me anyways. I could open the top from late august to early april...so a cabriolet doesn't make sense in my case) As for car "shows" i think the one i would actually want to visit somewhat would be the "Festival of Speed" in Goodwood. But i don't think i will ever make it there, even though it's on the "same continent" i live on. As for startup sounds: the funniest experience i ever had was at a clasic rallye in Gröbming/Austria. Where Derek Bell was driving a LeMans Porsche for a few rounds around the village among others for a special show. And before that, on our way walking into the village center, the Porsche was standing on the road, and the techs were preparing to start it. At that moment my parents, my cousin and myself were standing behind the car. 5-6m behind it, we put fingers in our ears and were prepared for it to get loud. Nobody else seemed to have anticipated what was going to happen...Two boys, maybe 8 and 12 were stepping off the sidewalk onto the street maybe 1.5-2m behind the Porsche, completely unaware... I have (to this day) never seen anyone jump so high from being "jumpscared" as these two boys did! And the size of their eyes...😂 The event in Gröbming is probably a small one globally, but i have been there 2 or 3 time 20 years ago and i have seen People like said Derek Bell, Stirling Moss (with his wife), John Surtees (drifting onehanded in a W125 on a public cobble road with spectators on the sidewalk. And with the free hand he waved to the people), Rowan Atkinson, Walter Röhrl. And i will forever think back about seeing them actually drive their cars! (And as fellow old Mercedes nerds you know what i mean when i say i have seen and heard the original 722 there once.) They even named a roundabout after Stirling Moss there, as he once missed something and his car slid into and got stuck in the midst of the roundabout during one of the first times he drove that classic rallye. He was a very good sport about it.

On the GT40 if you look at the headers you will notice that the primary runners cross over with two of the LHS and two of the RHS primary runners combining into the LHS muffler and the other primaries combining into the RHS muffler. This is why it sounds like a flat-plane V8. This header design was known as the "Bundle of snakes" or a 180-degree header design.

20:30 that would be true if there was no hood or front on SUVs. The way SUVs and Pickup Trucks are styled currently acutally gives them far less visibility than a normal car. The high hood means that small people and kids get obstructed and can easily be ran over without knowing theyre even there.

@cls63amgwagon34 Жыл бұрын
@@zacharystokes ya honestly that’s probably why it won’t be a mass market car, because it would cannibalize their halo offerings. In reality it wouldn’t, a product like this is usually pretty niche, but them not building this is sort of an admission that this really is better than 90% of what they’re putting out right now, and the press would certainly say that, so that’s probably the real reason.

That Zed 4 Touring? Yes, I too think it's attractive. As a 'shooting brake'*, its proportions seem just _right._ Yes, aesthetically it is better than the Zed 3 hardtop. That's for several reasons, including some of the regular Z3 convertible's exterior design elements. Compared to the Zed 4 E86/hardtop? Pretty much a redundant pursuit - the latter is a mini-wagon, the former a genuine (and quite lovely) coupé. HOWEVER, (to me) this new coupé/wagonette/tour/hunt-turret/shoe/van thing, is deeply compromised by the *nonsensical window area.* At least the Zed 3 actually had glass around the extra occupant/luggage space! (* _Surely,_ the silliest and/or most archaic vehicle variant name.)

How out of touch with their fandom are they to not realize the reaction that car would provoke? And, to then give the middle finger by tepidly suggesting they could do 50 @ $250k. Why not 100 @ $125k? Or a couple of thousand at some price less than $100k? Open the order books today, start taking people's money, keep the factory open until all the orders are filled.
