Well I'm old 60s had license since 1978. My current cars are 2000 Acura 3.2 TL with low mileage. We also have Honda Ridgeline Pickup 2007. You can start them without foot on brake. I have driven loaner Acura vehicles the newer ones had push button start. If the others with key I probably put my foot on brake by habit. But I have started cars from passenger seat.

Should someone tell him about starting a car with a clutch?
@nodak81 Жыл бұрын
You're comparing apples and oranges. Everybody knows manual cars require a foot on the clutch to start. However, I've never seen any automatic car (with key-start) require a foot on the brake. Push-button start of course, but never key-start. And I'm not talking about those crappy mid-2000s cars with smart key fobs you just stick in the dash to simulate a key, they don't actually do anything and function identically to a push-button car.
@cherry_mk6883 Жыл бұрын
@nodak81, actually manual car's (JDM only) doesn't require clutch in for it to start.

@WaveManMike5 ай бұрын
Most people seem VERY young in the comments so I’ll explain. For cars with traditional keys like this, you didn’t have to press the brake pedal before. This didn’t really start until Push Button Start cars came along.

Only push-button cars require a foot on the brake. Not to mention that the e63 doesn't even have a key, it's just a wireless smart key fob. They make you insert it like a key but it isn't necessary as it functions the exact same way as a push-button car.

@@dallasfrost1996 I guess it depends what you’re used to. I had a friend with a Mazda 929 that wouldn’t start without a seatbelt connected, foot on the brake, and the handbrake on, and you couldn’t shift out of park without either the foot or handbrake applied, I forget which one now, but I serviced the car for many years.
