Gregory Issacs is hands down my favorite reggae artist. Sorry Bob. I have well over twenty of his albums on vinyl and many more on disc. I only got to see him once at a very small show in Santa Cruz California. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I wish that he was still with us. Long live Gregory in our hearts.

In a BBC interview back in the 90s the legendary Riddim Twins of Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare were asked which artist they most enjoyed working with..I expected they'd name longtime collaborators Peter Tosh or Black Uhuru... Well, Robbie was adamant... "GREGORY ISAACS..!!!." he admitted 😁 I also had the Live In Brixton release on audio cassette tape in the 80s.. I recommend fans refer to Bunny Wailers' interview thru KZbin on his impressions on Gregory Isaacs...YES..!!

Once again you did a great job on giving us some history of my namesake. I became a huge fan of his, the first time I saw him was during the Night Nurse tour. I remember he was backed by the Roots Radics. I have never heard a crowd sing a long so much before. lIt wasn't until many years later, that I got to see him perform. Nothing had really changed about his swagger on stage. The last time I got to see him, about a year before he. passed. My friends had been his backing band for many years. When he toured the states, they all had great things to say about him, Much less, I found myself in with Gregory, Frankie Paul and Eddie Fitzroy. I had met Frankie and Eddie before. I did try and talk to Gregory, but he wasn't in the best of shape due to his use of cocaine. I could barely understand what he said and it was more than just his patio. In the next half and hour, I found myself standing on the side of stage. Watching Gregory, with all that swagger rocking the crowd. He just belonged on the stage like no one else. It was very sad to hear the news of his passing, but his music lives on ...

The track Slave Market was my introduction to Gregory Isaacs back in the early 80s and I remained hooked ever since...Sorry Beres Hammond but for me Gregory "Jah Tooth" Isaacs (one of his numerous nicknames) is the King of Lovers Rock.. I've hardly seen an artist whose songwriting is as classy and sublime as Isaacs'..

The one and only COOL RULER, what a sweet nickname! Gregory sang my favorite song of all artists, all genders and all time: Confirm Reservation (spec. the BBC version) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX_SpqCIbKeqmM0 The subject, the treatment in the lyrics, the vulnerability, and the rock solid backing of the Roots Radics... He also recorded with Sly & Robbie the fabulous Motherless Children that always touch me. Reggae wouldn't have been the same without Mr. Gregory Isaacs. Huge respect!
