The RotS novelization remains a absolute treasure trove. There isn't a single scene in it that doesn't outshine the movie. Anakin and Palpatine in particular have outstanding moments that really provide insight into how Palpatine manipulated Anakin for years and now, finally, has him exactly where he's wanted him all along.

Man I vividly remember skipping school and going to the theaters to watch episode 3. One scene that always stuck out to me even as a kid was that scene especially when he says “not from a jedi” little kid me got goosebumps lol

I never saw Palpatine knowing about the Sith as a tell. He's the leader of an absolutely MASSIVE alliance of planets, with several MILLENIA of history, and the Sith are typically at the front against that alliance. To me, it'd be like thinking that the Chairperson of NATO is a Russian spy because he's knowledgeable on Russian history and culture.

I'd also say the reason anakin didn't question Palpatine is that the jedi order proved several times over the course of the war to be untrustworthy. Both not trusting anakin, and cutting corners whenever convenient for them. Yet holding others to the strictest of standards. Hypocrisy and incompetence is what drove the jedi to their graves, and why anakin ultimately sided with Palpatine. Had the jedi freed anakin's mom, and took her away from tatooine, protected Ahoska instead of throwing her to the wolves, or offer to help anakin save his "friend" instead of telling him to let go, things would have turned out very different.

In ROTS, the way, i saw it, Anakin just didn't want to believe that the only person who was giving him confidence and actually recognizing his potential was potentially someone who he might need to take out. I mean, we gotta remember when Ani lost Qui-Gon, he had no parental figure besides Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan in his position couldn't possibly give Anakin the love and attention he needs, he couldn't't be the father figure. Palpatine knew this, and became that father figure that Ani desperately needed. So, basically for most of his life, Ani was groomed by Palpatine and he was the only figure that saw the potential in him unlike others. So, Anakin loves Palpatine with his heart and soul and always found solace in that man. Anakin already lost his mother and Qui-Gon (father figure), he didn't want to think of Palpatine being another loss for him. Anakin was just incredulous, so he tried his hardest to deny it despite the facts presented to him, the same way we would be if we found out someone we love did something horrible.

All that you said is fine but the moment Anakin realized Palpatine was the Sith lord the Jedi had been looking for, he should immediately dismissed just or everything Palpatine was saying to him! He should have seen it for what it was which was manipulation. Why? Palpatine was the one behind the invasion of Naboo. He was also the one behind all the attempts on Padme live. Now out of the blue, he would going to aid you in saving her life based on incomplete vision he had of her dying in child birth. Palpatine was using everybody and trying to kill everybody to get power.

If you get into some of the expanded universe stuff, including what is "legends", it all makes sense. I feel the biggest issue with the prequels, including Revenge of the Sith, was that each movie was limited to about 2 hours. There was just way too much going on to properly cover these deeper points of the plot to ever fit into these movies. That's why the mainstream audience wouldn't quite understand how Anakin really falls. I also feel that when George first made Episode 1 I don't think he still fully knew what he was going to do with 2 and 3. Again, just way too much content to throw in to 6 hours of film time.

@@arronfrazier7873 You have to realize that Anakin is still pretty young in Episode 3. He also wasn't properly developed on an emotional level, a combination of the traumatic experiences he had when he was growing up and also growing up in an environment where you aren't allowed to express your true feelings and instead are supposed to be stoic. Anakin really only had his mother, his lover Padme, his brother Obi Wan and his father Qui Gon who died very early on and was later replaced by Palpatine. His mother dies and later on he begins having visions of Padme dying. He seeks out help from Yoda and is told to "let go" of those feelings, as if that would help. If you also get into the expanded universe stuff or look deeper he was never fully embraced by other jedi and was essentially an outcast. He intended on only using Palpatine for his power and planned on overthrowing him. After the events on Mustafar he realizes that Palpatine is all he has left and commits himself to his master.

@@oglocbaby520 In any endeavor to some extent or alot, you have to have some emotional control and discipline as man. Anakin wasn't that and never planned on being that! He was power hungry before becoming Obi Wan Padwan! Yes, he had all those traumatic experiences but he had choice to train as Jedi. He was free after winning the Pod race. He could have stayed on Tatooine to work to free his mother. He never did that! Even, he didn't have to stay with the Jedi 5 years in or 10 years after marrying Padme, he didn't leave. Anakin choose to join a organization in the Jedi that is about discipline. Where the Jedi perfect? No, but he signed up for it and continued to stay. This notion, Anakin felt so kind of way for the Jedi so-called free him. He actually freed himself by winning the pod race. He had problem from Phantom Menace to Attack of the clones breaking rules or not following order countless times training. It didn't stop with the start and throughout the Clone wars. I get tired of the excuses for Anakin when he truley showed that when he decided to do something, he would do with.

@@arronfrazier7873 The way I look at it, Anakin was emotionally stunted. I know people make fun of Attack of the Clones, but the really awkward and cringey thing going on between Anakin and Padme highlights all of this. Again, this was due to his experiences growing up. If you were basically a warrior monk who was taken in relatively late into the Jedi order you'd behave in a similar manner. The prequels really weren't able to fully immerse the audience into the deeper things going on, there simply wasn't enough time for it.

The Republic, the shield of the Jedi, keeping details on the Sith accessible to high-ranking members is completely understandable and was probably allowed or even handed over by the Jedi at the time so they would have a better understanding of them when they returned again. that being said, he probably should have questioned his understanding a bit as he wasn't a force user and even among the force users there can be a drastic difference in their understanding of the same or similar powers.
