Bicopters, as multi-rotor drones with two propellers, two servos and two tilting motors are inferior to quadcopter drones in almost every aspect. There is a reason we almost do not use it in real life, practical, applications. Here is why bicopters are a dead end of RC drones' evolution.

Bi and tri copters are something you build because you can, not because you should. Encourage people to have their fun.

You are right on higher design complexity and right on lower durability due to tilting parts, but you cannot negate the efficiency advantage of bicopters as you have done. Yes, you still have to use 4 motors but only 2 of them are continuously spinning draining battery, while the servos are used only for control movement with low energy consumption and the torque needed for directional control can be provided by a relatively small and cheap brushed servo, while for spinning rotors brushed motor life is too short and brushless motors are a must, and with 2 more of them are needed also 2 additional ESC.

I want a big one I can wear as a backpack, matched with electric rollerblades. Not for flying but "falling with style". When on the ground it would provide thrust and stability. I've seen people try to use a paramotor with unpowered skates. It's a hilariously terrible idea. I've also tried powered skates, and it's nightmarishly difficult to maintain your balance. I'm thinking a little bit of both plus some AI, could actually make a stable platform. I would also like to double as an electric parachute. If you only need to run the motors for a few seconds It wouldn't have time to build up too much heat and burn out. So you don't necessarily have to use huge motors.

I had got inav to fly a bicopter setup as a step toward making a vtol. Was fairly easy to setup.

I built a tricopter from a quadcopter because one motor was damaged and I could no longer get the original motor😂

@@blise518B Honestly it flew very bad compared to a quad. I had to turn the P gain down a lot because it was wobbling. But it can yaw extremely fast! Sometimes the servo mechanism got stuck and it crashed into the ground while spinning. The servo is big enough but very slow so the latency on the yaw axis was bad. However it was a very fun project. I still have the Tricopter but it's not repaired yet. It's frustrating if you need to reassemble it after every crash.

I don't think so. It is because mostly droners get failed to build bicopter. I can build a quadcopter easily instead of bicopter. Bicopter is a challenge and hard to do with it. (I;m talking about DIY bicopter using raspberry or arduino. I simple hate using conventional flight controller coz the problem is about money. No challenge at all.
