I'm a seventh day Adventist and I got married at 23 almost 24. My husband was 24. Alot of people told us we were getting married too young. We should wait to 30 or even I should get one to two children first. But I didn't regret it. We will be celebrating 21 years of marriage this Friday and we are still happily married. In fact it got better with time. Wishing you God's blessing on your marriage . Love watching your journey so far and by God's grace it will become even more beautiful. Also many of the reasons you gave for getting married were the same ones we had especially not wanting to go home and be separate at the end of the date.

Congrats even tho I dobt know you guys..keep the love fire burning and I wish for you guys many more ...am a seventhday adventist too ..but unfortunately my dear I had was to end my marriage 11 years now and I am 49 yrs old if I didnt give it up I would lose my life my husband mother wanted him fir her self since we got married when she realised she was not getting the amount of money her son was giving her then he started to run around having women here and there and we wre both Christians but guess what he was an undercover womanizer and so i didnt know so when i found out it was too late i had was to let him go because the mother wasnt a motherinlaw she was an out law and wanted to kill me and seriously speaking ...and this is just a little part of it what i go through with them ...but not because mine fail ..I love and get so emotional when I hear how some people fighting for their marriages am so happy for them ...but that's why am so scared to get married again but I really wanted to get married again ...am praying so hard but when I see men ll come up to me i just put them off that marriage hurt me soooooo much ..so I have to be on regular fasting I know god ll send me one that wont be like my ex husband 🙏🙏

When we met we prayed and fast and ask God to guide us along the way. We go to church every Sabbath and the Lord has blessed us tremendously. I met my husband February 2009 and got married December December same year. I dont think it was hasty. Parents met, we visited each other's church, got counseling. All in all Im a serious Christian girl. You just have to know God and be sensitive to the moving of the Holy spirit . This year we'll celebrate 13yrs. Wish you guys all the best. We had pre- engagement counseling, pre- marital ,and post martial counseling. Met at church and high school, dated for 6 years? Unno young, but are not idiots. You can do this XYZ. I absolutely love both of you. You are so mature in your thinking ...you both "have your head on your 2 shoulders" ( a saying I learnt while living in Dominica). I have no doubt that you made the right decision. You are both absolutely right: put God first and then seek the blessings of those whose opinion matters. I've been hearing about pre-engagement counselling lately. I believe it is helpful. Young or old, immature people shouldn't get married. I got married at age 24 and my husband was 27 having been in our relationship for 6 years and knowing each other for about 10 years; and yes we did the Christian thing and waited....we didn't yield to the temptation, only by God's grace. (Would have been 30 years next month but death separated us 4 years ago). God has designed that a marital relationship should be built on a Christian foundation. Those who are not Christians may not understand the importance of seeking God's guidance every step of the way. Happy to hear how much you both sought God as you contemplated your decision on marriage, that's commendable. Keep on putting God first in everything you do and success is guaranteed. Yes Xaundre, marriage is serious business....until death as the vows states. The divorce rate is high because some people don't take marriage seriously. They believe you can just hop in and hop out like a bus or taxi. You are truly a great example to young people. I pray they'll listen to your wise counsels. Peace, love and blessings always 🙏

This is the most detailed explanation I have ever heard on the topic. Thanks for sharing. I was surprised to learn that the average age of marriage is 32. I wonder if culture or gender factors in the age get married. I got married the year I turned 33 and in my part of the world (Nigeria in Africa) that is considered late marriage. People generally get married in their twenties here and for ladies once they are 30 even their family begin to get worried snd some ladies get desperate. Early marriage here would be like teenage marriage and it is generally rare although there are cultures here where teenage girls are given out in marriage. I like the distinction you put between a hasty marriage and early marriage. I would say age should not be the main reason for deciding eligibility for getting married, especially if the person has reached adulthood. The maturity level is important. If someone is older but immature, marriage should not be a consideration. Spiritual, mental, physical and emotional maturity is very important. Also, an important question people should ask themselves when deciding to get married is, 'Is this person right for me?' In reality, it is not about how early or late one gets married but how well the marriage foundation and the kind of family I want to have.

It’s important for people to seek God when making any decision. We run to Him when we get ourselves into problems but didn’t run to Him before we make decisions. Marrying at 24 is completely fine once you are mature and are settled in your spirit that it’s a God move. I’ve been married for almost 10 years (little oldie lol) and I quite enjoy watching the level of maturity you both portray. It shows that the decision to get married was a solid one.
