Aw, I am so sorry to hear 2024 has been a struggle, and I am so sorry to hear about your mum Micha. Sending love. I'm not sure about everyone else, but when I follow KZbinrs who travel, its their fun personalities that make me want to watch, rather than country specific content. I usually discover people because I am researching a certain trip destination, but I keep coming back because of how fun you are, no matter where you are. I am sure like many others, I will enjoy watching videos you create anywhere, because you are both great personalities who seem lovely and friendly! Hope you feel inspired to create something soon, but there's honestly no rush until you feel ready. Good luck guys! xx

I’m so sorry you’ve had such a difficult year. Micha, I feel the pain you’re going through with the loss of a loved one from dementia. Sending you love and comfort❤ Of course I’ve enjoyed your channel for all of the Italy content, which helped me and my husband have a wonderful trip back in 2023, so thank you for that! But it’s your passion, relationship with one another and your lovely personalties that make you both special! No matter what your next chapter will be, I can’t wait to see and am excited for you. This past year will just make you stronger and open your eyes to the future. Take care and get some much needed rest.

Thanks so much Micha and Matteo! Mark and I are so sorry to hear about the death of your mother. I know how devastating it is as I lost my mother when I was about your age. She is still very much in my heart decades later, and my knowledge of her grew throughout life since then. Also we are very sorry to hear how difficult it was to run your business in Italy. Mark and I went through similar downturns and have found they were instrumental to our career and creative paths. We were always impressed with the calibre of your work and look forward to staying tuned in to both of tour channels. May your Christmas bring you much deserved peace and comfort and may 2025 be a great year !!! ❤❤❤❤❤

No lies….Global Expats, Gregor Brown, Pasta Grammar, and a few others inspired me so much over the years that i recently completed acquisition of my italian citizenship by blood. And you have no idea how much i appreciate you for it. But your channel is not called the Italy Expats. 😂 like others have said…most of us have no clue what South Africa looks like. It’s a very under-represented niche on youtube and this might be a perfect chance for you to grow your channel from 61k subs to 610k subs! Maybe you’ll go back to italy one day. Maybe not. But you’re together…healthy…and in a really cool situation. Here for the show. Good luck and merry Christmas to you guys! ❤🥹 PS Micha…i am so very sorry to hear about mom. 💔🙏

I've been wondering where you were, so thanks for doing this difficult update. Micha, I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through with your Mom. Losing a parent is such a major event in life, and that alone would be cause to take a break. Having to shift gears with your channel is not a failure, it's just another part of life. I'm old, and in my experience, life does not run in a smooth, straight line. At some points, you stop, take a hard look, and reevaluate. That's exactly what you've done, and you'll be even better for it. It's just life. Your followers will be there for your next phase because we see your integrity and your intent. Thank you for being honest with us. Now we can cheer you on in whatever you do next.❤

Firstly, our condolences on the passing of your mom. Dementia is an incredibly difficult and cruel process, we know firsthand as well. Now for the positive!!!!!! We have thoroughly enjoyed your Italy travel series. Sure, “anyone” can do an Italy travel series, but you two bright a very enjoyable ‘watchable’ quality to your vids because of who you are as people. I was in Florence with friends on that beautifully warm Thanksgiving day you were filming and all of us will occasionally watch that video (as we did this Thanksgiving) and remember the day. Ironically, we discovered your channel *after* or big Italy trip! However, this coming April 2025, I’ll be solo traveling based in an apartment Florence and my itinerary will be chock full of many of the places I’ve traveled with you two, via You Tube. So awesome. Please don’t feel down about how your Italian adventure turned out for now, I’m sure there are others, like me, who will continue to enjoy and use the content you created for their own Italian adventures. Personally, I enjoy your content as much as Rick Steves or KZbinr Mark Wolters. Perhaps, in the future we’ll be able to enjoy a video from a week or two visit to Italy, if not, that’s ok too. Recharge, take care of yourselves and thank you!

I have watched an immense amount of KZbin presenters overtime and think it is an exhausting way to live a life. I am an 81-year-old retired clinical psychologist and professor. I started traveling in my life in 1970 and then skip 22 years. And 92 I returned to see England And Italy.. From 94 to now, I have spent lots of time in England and Italy. However, it was my own time. Sharing everything creates an unreal world.

First of all, sorry for your loss. Our condolences Micha, we know things are hard. Regarding Italy, which we also LOVE, living in Greece ourselves we know how crushing it is with the taxes and all. We used to have a food blog but the expenses for taxes and social security made it impossible for us to continue. We've been in your shoes and it really sucks. Hard. So, thank you SO MUCH for all the company you kept us, the countless hours of authentic content which put smiles on our faces, for years. as an Italian I can say that yours was a full immersion in the real life of average Italian citizens. since there is no dolce vita, relaxation and slow living, they are just stereotypes that would be good to forget once and for all I don't understand the amazement for bureaucracy and rules, every country has its own, and we Italians fight with them constantly, anything but relaxation and dolce vita.

It's a shame Italy keeps discouraging small business startups through its onerous taxes and crippling regulations. Remember: Italian youth are flocking out of Italy as well, due to the staggering unemployment situation...so I wouldn't feel so bad about this--even the Italians are fed up with this internal governmental bloat and blindness!

First, my condolences to you Micha on the loss of your mother. That alone is soul depleting. Next, so sorry it didn't work out for you, at this point, in Italy. I am sure you will find your footing again and rally for your next project. Finally, this should serve as a cautionary tale to anyone moving to a new Country. Please take a deep breath and do the financial math, including your tax burden and bureaucratic costs hurdles before you take the leap. I realize that sucks some of the fun out of the leap, but I know far too many people who have made the move, Italy in particular, that didn't do that and found that they could not make it. Best to you both!

I am happy that you are with family in a sweet cottage. It's good to be with people you love. Looking forward to your future videos. May God bless you

Hiya Micha and Matteo, I’m really vexed for you both after all the huge effort you have put into giving us these incredible videos. Italy probably rates as my favourite country on earth (excluding Scotland of course 😆) and your videos gave myself and my wife so much information that helped us immensely over 3 different holidays we had in Sicily. My daughter is now using them as she will be travelling from Bergamo to Sicily next year but going on holidays to another country and moving to live and work there are two completely different things and as I have done this myself through my life I fully understand your perspective and when you consider how difficult it is to make any kind of financial profit from KZbin nowadays is almost impossible. But videos of South Africa would still be great too, I have never visited although my oldest daughter did last year and she loved it. Ultimately you are together and looking after yourselves and that’s what counts in life especially through tough times emotionally and financially. You will both work it out together and I’m sure whatever direction you decide to take it will be great for you both.

My preferred setup for reduced taxes for an American living as a slow traveler / digital nomad is to setup company for passive income in a low tax country (Georgia, Dubai, Bulgaria, etc). Have that company pay an American up to $126k (FEIE limit). Move from country to country to avoid tax residency ensuring you don’t come close to 180 days a year in any one country even if you can (e.g. twice to Italy on 90 day Schengen). Also make sure you out of USA for 330 days a year. You’ll pay some tax in the companies host country less expenses like salaries… and no tax on USA income due to FEIE. Best to consult real tax accountant for details. 😂

You guys, stuff happens. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone. My husband and I are planning a move to Montenegro in a few years and this definitely made me think about how much homework I have ahead of me to make sure we are successful. Thank you for baring your souls like this.

I already follow you on your channel, Micha! Whatever you 2 decide to do, thank you for taking us along with you! I love Italy, but you 2 have such a great charisma and character that the place you film in is not that important! I hope that 2025 will be better for you! Sending a big hug! Happy holiday!

Thanks for the honesty. I would love to come as a retired person, and you are right, it's very bureaucratic. My sons great grandfather was from Italy. My husband passed from Alzheimer's, I am so sorry for your loss.

Such a shame, that life got in the way of your mission. For two non-Italians you made the taste of Italy come to life. The way you are able to capture Italy is realistic & I will miss seeing your travels. Good luck until you get a chance to re-visit the land of La Dolce Vita. Have a Merry Christmas & all the best
