Batman mask of the phantasm is what kicked off the DC animated movie universe. And this marked the beginning of the legendary Kevin Conroy (RIP) as Batman to house hold name as the definitive Batman for the animated universe going forward. I mean they had it where in one particular episode of Batman the brave and the bold where Kevin Conroy, Adam west and Mark Hamill voiced The Spectre (Hamill) Thomas Wayne (West) and the Phantom Stranger (Conroy) together, of course this will be the second time that Conroy and West had did a voiceover since the Batman animated series.

For the Batman Beyond thing, Terry being Bruce's biological son was actually floated around since the Beyond days, possibly since the start since Terry and his brother didn't have the same hair color of either of their parents but that's conjecture. There was going to be a second film that never got produced where it was going to be revealed that Terry was Bruce's biological kid and that Selena was the one who manipulated it (for some reason it would have worked less honestly). The point is it wasn't an idea made up for Epilogue, that just canonized it. And as for Waller's plan, I imagine that she was going to go to Terry once his parents were killed and use her resources to shape him into what she though Batman should be, but then changed her mind where Phantasm backed out.

Joker has two origins in BTAS. He is referred to once as Jack Napier and he was a mob goon in Mask of the Phantasm, but there’s a later episode where he’s a failed stand-up and he tries to take revenge on a panel of judges who killed his career.

I remember asking my dad when I was a kid if he could take me to see Batman: The Mask of the Phantasm at the local theater in my hometown and my dad said "no" (maybe due to Batman Returns, like you mentioned earlier in the video). Though my dad and I rented the movie when it came out and we both liked so much we bought a copy on VHS soon after.

The Danny Devito style Penguin worked for the TAS Penguin BECAUSE it contrasted with his debonaire demeanor. He looks like a monster but is actually a suave gentleman. That's the take they should have gone with in the movie instead of making him an all-around grating character.

The JLU Epilogue episode came about based on the fan theory of Terry being Bruce's son solely because the creators did not realize that Terry (and by extension, his younger brother Matt) having BLACK hair and their parents being RED HEADS should be a genetic impossibility. Also led to a possible explanation for why his parents were divorced, his dad probably thought his mom had an affair.
