I believe Reservation should mean only for women and lower section of society (not by cast). People whose family do not have a stable income should be given reservation and so do the women. Aspirants coming from well settled families regardless gender and cast should be treated equally and should remove the cutt-off marks system. One of friend's father works as a doctor in a government hospital(he belongs to ST) and we both study In a private school but it makes me sad that if we give a entrance exam for a college or university due to cut off mark he gets in even when he scores less than me. So I think reservation rules should be change

Bureaucracy ki jo haalat hai usse dekh nai lagta ki yeh log meritorious hotey hai. Yeh sirf ratna jaante hai. Personality bhi koi khaas nai hoti IIM walo ki tarah. Toh agar reservation ho toh bhi jyada nuksaan nai hoga kyuki jyada marks ka matlab jyada acha officer nai hota. Female reservation bhi economic strata dekh kar dena chahiye. Jo females ko facilities na hotey hue bhi ek specific cut-off mil gaya ho unhe le le kyuki unki personality strong hoti hai aur aise hi log decision better lete hai.

It makes sense to have reservations in legislative bodies. Because representation does make complete sense there. Reservation is nothing more than a feel good thing in most other domains because it has no pragmatic consequences. Also, affirmative action is not a solution to all societal problems. Empowerment till a necessary extent is enough to solve many issues. Muh reservation in the UPSC or in private for that matter cannot help women out there who are victims of familial or social evils. It'll only murder merit. If only people could understand the practical benefits of schemes like reservations before pushing for these as go to solutions for all problems.
