Honestly they often feel worse than celebrities, at least most celebrities don't pretend they are just like us. Influencers may start like us but once they blow up they're relatability is gone.

It’s so annoying, every single time , there’s people trying to make u buy something. I know some influencers came from humble beginnings , and still they will lie and lie so they can make a check

They’re glorified salespeople. Why would I take the advice of someone basically paid to flog products that are sent to them with the expectation that the influencer would push that product?
@hollynewsteinhautala557314 күн бұрын
The influencer I watch now is Emily Noel. She doesn’t do sponsorships, never launched a makeup line, promotes affordable products, and still does old-style tutorials. She’s been on KZbin for years, and is always fresh and relatable.

I've stopped watching influencers. I used to love watching videos about beauty application techniques, what products were good for various situations, and I loved dupe videos when it was more like someone just happened to find a dupe for something, rather than a dupe being intentionally made like they are now. I get tired of 'new new new' and 'buy buy buy'. I watch people who shop their stash, use what they have in creative ways, and are more financially frugal and less wasteful.

I’ve been watching KZbin since 2006 and watched the OG beauty gurus in high school/college. The shift over the years has been interesting. When more mainstream beauty influencers came on the scene and everyone started started going more high tech the community really changed.

Idk. Today's influencers may go out of style, but I don't think notoriety will ever go out of style. I think that anywhere there's a society, some people will achieve notoriety and other people will admire them for it. 🤷🏽♀️

So true I used to watch perfume reviewers that I trusted as they appeared to enjoy a similar fragrance wardrobe however some of these influencers have turned into commercial influencers even reporting on some fragrances as so unique when they smell just like the same fragrance they posted on a year ago. Total betrayal!!!! They present more as commercial ads vs honest reviews. I appreciate honesty as your channel displays.
@Laurajaneatelier14 күн бұрын
Yes so true. I understand that influencers need to do ads because it’s a huge part of their invite but just be honest

Maybe this is just me being neurodivergent and a cynic, but I’ve never found celebs or influencers relatable lol and there’s little that even differentiates a celeb and an influencer anyway. You could say “well, celebs are talented” but with the rise of auto tune and nepotism literally always being a thing, very few celebs are very talented either lol
