Why We Should Have Hope For DLC In Mario Party Superstars

I can really see Nintendo making DLC for Superstars, specially after Mario Kart DLC got announced. Mario Kart dlc was basically a meme for many years, yet it came. And any Superstars dlc is almost guaranted to arrive with the NSO Expansion Pack

I sure hope you’re right! I just played Spiny Desert on the N64 tonight with some friends, and it just made me want these other old 64 boards in the game. Also, even though I was skeptical about it being like the fighter pass, I actually see it happening more like that than what I had proposed originally, which is why I’m making another video speculating about a “party pass” and what it could look like 🤔

I'm betting that we'll get a DLC trailer in a nintendo direct soon. I'm unsure about "packs" though, I think we'll just get 1 or 2 waves of free DLC like how the Mario sports games do it.

See, I disagree with that. They practically make a new Mario Party game every year and charge us for it, and I feel like they would have said something already about free DLC. I could be wrong, but I just feel like it won’t be free, which honestly I prefer. If they do free DLC, I’m pretty sure it would be one Mario Party 3 board, and that’s it. MAYBE one more MP1 board since that game had more boards than MP2 and MP3, but only because I could see them doing Eternal Star as the final bowser board.

Well, only time will tell if we get anything or not. NDCube would have to be really dumb not to take this golden opportunity they have with this game, and the fact that they didn't do anything for Super Mario Party despite how well it sold kinda worries me. But like I said, only time will tell

@@ayylmao8031 Did all the points I made about why Super probably didn’t get DLC make you worry a little less though? I really do think DLC for that game was a bad move for so many reasons, and NDCube HAD to know that. Also, I agree this is a golden opportunity for DLC!! Like, if they can’t even REMAKE boards for DLC, I doubt they ever plan on doing DLC, which I honestly don’t care about when it comes to new games. Like, they might as well just save new ideas for new games, but for this? When they only gave us 25% of the boards and wouldn’t have as good of a selection of Nintendo 64 minigames for a sequel, I absolutely expect it to have DLC and will really be mad if it doesn’t get it lol

@@ItsKevRA Actually yeah, I didn't think about how gimmicky the joycon only controls were so DLC for that game would've been really unnecessary but ngl leaving that game with only 4 boards was kinda harsh lol. But yeah I'd definitely say you brought up some good points so now I ain't too worried about our chances for DLC but Idk man, Nintendo is WEIRD sometimes. They either miss out the obvious step forward or they go above and beyond our expectations, they are truly unpredictable lmao

Like, I really can’t see any other smart way to handle legacy content other than making “ultimate” versions with about 3 games at a time.

I thought so too, but now it just doesn’t seem like it’s coming. We’re getting ports on NSO instead, which is cool… but it would be a lot cooler to get these boards remade instead.

@@patyos2 I personally think that’s kind of weird when you have some of them in minigames or as board mechanics. Like, someone playing as toadette when toadette is giving out stars is a bit weird. While it normally play as the generic enemies in later Mario Party games, I feel like Superstars made the smart decision of going with most unique characters.

I’m also making my own DLC Content Booster Packs for this game. I have 2 questions: I’m also planning to add Minigames from handheld titles. 1: Should I return the Duel Minigame “Chicken!” from Mario Party Advance? 2: I’m planning 11 2-vs.-2 Minigames to return from DS, I will add Hanger Management, Cucumberjacks, Book It!, Double Vision, Mole Thrill, Cube Crushers, Crazy Crosshairs, Soil Toil and Airbrushers. Which 2 out of 4 will return along with them? (2 of these will be in list after Cube Crushers) -Memory Mash -Sprinkler Scalers -Toppling Terror -Shorty Scorers

The only handheld Mario Party I’ve played is Island Tour. I kind of hate handheld systems because of how small the screen is and how bad it is for multiplayer 😅

2:30 the big problem with the "pick your favorite" in Superstars is - there is no "I don't know" option. So many people are playing Superstars as their first ever, or second ever MP game, and they had pick something they don't know anything about.

Agreed. I made that comment in my previous video and said they needed to add that option, but I don’t think it throws off the data a WHOLE lot. It skews it for sure, and that might be why Mario Party 1 is at the top because the people who don’t know just pick that one because it’s the first option, but I do think it’s mostly accurate. I could be wrong though. We do need that N/A version to be sure, but I guess even then we still wouldn’t truly know because so many people already picked one without playing them.

The only reasons as to why I'm a bit worried about not getting DLC at all are the fact that 3 months already passed without a single hint of DLC being a thing [with Mario Golf: Super Rush, for example, they announced additional content before the game had even come out (I know they were free updates but still)] and because ND Cube is just dumb most of the time and I could easily see them miss this perfect opportunity. I hope a ton of stuff gets announced if a Nintendo Direct airs soon but I'm starting to get scared.

I did say NDcube is dumb like a caveman, so I clearly agree with that reason, but a lot of games that do paid DLC wait a multiple of months. Luigi’s Mansion DLC didn’t get announced until the the first big direct of the new year, which I think was February, and had an October release. Breath of the Wild didn’t get a DLC announcement until E3 after it came out in March. If it doesn’t get announced at the next direct, THEN I think it’s okay to start to worry. We could still get it later, but it’s less likely if we don’t see it at the next direct.

@@ItsKevRA Fair enough, those are great points that I did not consider. I'll just hope you are right and we really see it at the next Nintendo Direct then. I just hope they don't repeat the horrible Twitter announcement strategy from 2020 this year and spend the whole year without a Nintendo Direct (I'm merely saying this because of the new Kirby trailer from a few days ago, I took that as a bad sign). At the start of 2021 we also got a standalone Bowser's Fury showcase so I might just be overreacting but it still kinda scares me that we might not get a Direct soon.

@@dg_777player5 I think it’s reasonable to have a bit of fear, especially with omicron tearing through the world right now, but it also makes sense for them to do one video in January before a February direct, especially for a game that comes out so soon. It would be kind of weird if they waited to announce Kirby’s release date at the direct next month when it’s release is scheduled for March.

Sorry if I somehow implied that I was scared of the virus, I have no fear of that ever since the beginning of 2020. Anyways, I don't get why it makes sense for them to show a random video in January for a major release when they could wait to reveal it in a Nintendo Direct later on. I mean, from February to March they'd still have time for promotional stuff.

@@dg_777player5 I understood you, but as we all know, covid has thrown a huge wrench in a lot of things especially when it comes to chip shortages and shut downs and working from home, so I was saying with Omicron causing more cases than ever, maybe they wouldn’t do a direct and go back to Twitter releases, which is the big reason they didn’t do directs in 2020. But they have plenty of games to talk about at the next direct. I think announcing Kirby’s release date two months ahead of release instead of just one month is definitely the better call.

This is my third Mario party game that I’ve played. My first was Mario Party (DS), and second was Super Mario Party. I love Mario Party Superstars and I’m not the type of person to spend money on DLC, but I’d gladly spend 20$ for 5 more remastered boards.

Me too!!! I’ve played them all, and I love the older games so much that I will be genuinely pissed if we don’t get more remade boards. However, after yesterday’s direct, I’m very conflicted about if it will happen. That whole video will be going up next week. Maybe one board, but I want a lot of DLC, and the way we get that is by them charging for it. They aren’t giving us tons of boards for free, but there is a chance of getting a lot of the N64 boards remade if people continuously show up to buy them.

Sad that Koopa Kid didn’t return as a playable character since he was introduced at the tail end of the N64 era of Mario Party games. He’s just went MIA ever since Bowser Junior became popular.

There’s already a lot of bowser look-a-like characters, and apparently a lot of people think they’re all his kids lol Also, wasn’t Koopa Kid in Mario Party since the first Mario Party game? I know they called him baby bowser back then, but they looked exactly the same on the Eternal Star board.

Yeah, that’s why I don’t trust a Super Mario Party 2, but Superstars is a good remake, so I trust them with legacy content. That’s about it though lol
