Yo Dom how would you feel about a mid season single elimination tournament in each division as a way to make the season more interesting? I know Adam silver is thinking of adding some other kind of event to change things up. This way theres a legit divisional crown instead of just whoever has the best record.

Thabeet could be useful off the bench on a playoff team if the right team took a chance. If Rudy Gobert can find a niche with his limited offense, then anything is possible.

With all due respect the reason why Steph Curry was able to take power not even is because of his ability to shoot but injuries Steph went through all the injuries when guys like d-rose and Russell Westbrook were considered the two best point guards in the league now after D Rose has been hurt and Russell Westbrook being injured at points in his career led to the elevation of Steph Curry because with all due respect had Russell and Kevin Durant been healthy going into the 2014-2015 postseason I don't think the Warriors would have beat them if Kyrie and Kevin Love with healthy the Warriors wouldn't have won the finals and they proved it because next year you went down 3-1 and had Kevin Durant not wanting to join your team you wouldn't have went to the finals and you blew a 3-1 lead and in the grand scheme of things no point guard in the last 25 years has been able to win Finals MVP and be the best player on his team wow averaging 25 or more let alone having that shooting first mindset so realistically teams were looking for people to be Playmakers because it's easier to find guys who have won championships averaging six or more assist at the guard position then it would be to find somebody averaging 25 or more

Awesome, entertaining and overall well-made video, Dom. It's always interesting going back into the time machine and seeing who the new faces of the NBA were back a decade ago and seeing where they ended up. I'm glad you didn't just make this a "bust or not" video and actually made it a lot more nuanced. Hindsight is definitely 20/20, but videos like these show just how much of a role luck, bad luck (injuries), bad management, and the evolution of the game play in determining the outcome of any given player's career. I very clearly remember how hyped Thabeet was, and Johnny Flynn is a name I was much more familiar with at the time than James Harden or even Blake Griffin (I only knew him from the cover of that college basketball video game, haha). Tyreke Evans was a beast back then. But how on Earth an organization is supposed to predict the crazy factors that completely change the course of a career is beyond me, so it really makes you wonder if their draft picks could be considered mistakes (for the reasons you mention, I.e. stockier, more athletic guards being generally more favorable than shoot-first guards). All in all, once again, a very cool and very thought-provoking video.

Anyone who knows a little about Stephen Curry's past shortly before the NBA knew that NBA teams were worried that he was way too small for the league. They knew he could shoot, but thought he was too little. Even the Warriors didn't see that potential, but because these 6 players got taken before Steph, the Warriors picked him up. As early as Monta Ellis left, the Warriors saw that Steph could do so much for the team.

I agree. Steph improved his game IMMENSELY after getting into the NBA. It's really not something a lot of people would've expected. People also never expected him to literally "ruin the game." Blake had insane athleticism and had a lot more upside. Just watching him play in college you knew that he was gonna be an All-Star. He was the clear #1 pick. When you're the GM, you don't just gamble with the #1 pick.

Most fools don't understand - Curry isn't just the greatest shooter in NBA history, he's arguably the greatest leader as well, one who can allow his teammates to shine and create a great locker room atmosphere required to win championships and so selfless like he ain't human. Passing on him was on par with Portland passing on MJ.

I remember watching Flynn & Hasheem Thabeet in the longest College Basketball game I've ever seen. Syracuse and UCONN played something like 6 Overtime periods and I admit, I thought Jonny Flynn was going to be amazing in the NBA. Steph Curry was so exciting to watch at Davidson, so I wanted him to do well in the NBA, I wouldn't say he was underrated based on his age & build at the time. I also remember everyone kinda just assuming the Knicks would draft one of the Hyped up Point Guards, but them Minnesota had to draft 2 & then the Warriors shocked everyone by taking Curry despite having Ellis & Davis.

Steph is one in a billion. No one knew his true potential at the time, including the warriors management. Some saw him as a better or worse fit depending on the type of squad they were trying to build. In retrospect the vision is always 20/20. Also, he thrives with GSW the way he never would have with Knicks. Green, Iggy and Klay were just as instrumental to this saga of success that is GSW
