It is annoying to get sunk when you have something that is related to a specific quest or tall tale... my only advice is to stash loot if you are in this circumstance. I was doing the quest to get the curse of the sunken sorrow on my own, and for that you need to babysit a chest for so long, while you're boat is just sitting in open waters, visible from a mile away. After I got my first key, and put it in the chest, on my way to the second I noticed a crab ship appeared right behind me. I managed to get to the point where the players were no longer rendering on their ship, sailed close to an island, jumped over with ship sailing as fast as it can past the island. I grabbed the chest and stashed it on the island, waited a good 30 seconds or so before scuttling. I came back to get the chest, and then just kept it in a tower at a skeleton fort, and made a trip to and from after every key. It didn't add that much time, since I got lucky with the ruins, but I was confident that it would be safe there, since nobody actually does server events anymore. The total time it took me to finish the quest was probably like 2 hours, and I just went for the key, leaving behind all the loot in the ruins, since selling them solo would take way to long. TL:DR, there is always something you can do to save quest required loot.
@VoltieBird3 жыл бұрын
I did literally this and it saved my ass when trying to get the coral curse. I was solo-ing and knew that if I lost the chest I'd have to start the (annoyingly long and boring) quest all over, so I stashed my chest in the tunnels on Thieves Haven. Sure it meant that I'd have to go back for the chest once I got the final key and then sail back to the shrine I just came from, but when my ship got sunk on the way to the last shrine I was very glad that I had done that.
@nitrolight17782 жыл бұрын
I would always keep the chest with me, but I would stash it inside the mermaid statues of each shrine as I went. That way I could retrieve it from a statue whenever I saw fit, and whether I was inside a shrine or on my ship.

Other reasons you may be attacked: - Another crew feels threatened by your presence - its impossible for anyone to know for a fact if that nearby ship has good or bad intentions - A crew wants to clear the server - sometimes more toxic, but there are some circumstances when an opposing crew would benefit by you leaving the server, either leaving that ship slot empty, or letting it be filled by a crew with more loot - People are starved for pvp interactions - even with server hopping, there are many days that you can hop for hours and still not get a satisfying fight. In those circumstances, a crew may just gun for any ship they see just to get that fix - they 'disagree with the way you are playing the game' - a fundamentally stupid reason for attacking people, but definitely one of the more common. As much as PvE oriented players have misconceptions about pvp, many PvP oriented players have misconceptions as well. Many people feel if you OWE them a fight, especially if you are flying an emissary. They get annoyed when you run, regardless of how valid a strategy is. This breeds a lot of spiteful attitudes from more aggressive players. Its not your fault, and there isnt really anything you can do to prevent it, but its just kind of the reality we live in.
@Andyisgodcky2 жыл бұрын
When I see a ship beelining me when I haven't had the chance to get anything, I'll just run them around for as long as I can. If I notice them back off or lose interest, I'll sail back at them to get them to re-engage the chase. The more time of hyper-aggressive players I can waste, the better.

I don't blame new players for being confused about how Sea of Thieves works. It seems like all the devs do is promote their PvE content, all you hear from them is how cool the tall tales are, how good the loot from forts are, how excited they are for new raids and enemy encounters, when in reality doing any of the PvE content in the game is a death sentence. Like, yes, the Shroud-breaker stuff is awesome, but it's also the quickest way to get your ship sunk while you're not paying attention... Hell the new Siren dives will probably be ignored entirely because no one in their right mind is going to leave their ship unattended in the middle of the sea for that long...

It is understandable, wanting to walk before they run, so knowing what they were doing that drew other players' attention is worthwhile knowledge to have. The number 1 rule though for new players to learn is to expect someone to attack you. Don't read this as always be on the offensive, far from, just always have a plan for if things turn south.

I was going to let you go, but then you talked trash. 4. You just sailed right up to me at an island what'd you think I'd do? 5. I'm playing Reaper and you were there and I didn't know you were doing a tall tale. 6. You ran for a long time, I assumed you had something worth it

Tldr the player base is a collective a22 hole that's y 10 mins in was attacked and I just was sailing no were close to anything just learning to pilot the sloop and try out the tricks I heard of either way the nice people in the community are gone only pvper a22hats are there now and take pride in choosing the option to pick on the smaller guy I gt it that it's PvP sandbox kool I'm fine with that I wish players had a nicer approache to new players nobody wants to join a game they can never win or even 1200hrs in idk maybe ihighlevel players could be restricted against low levels but that would be immediately abused I just think flagable PvP is better and would encourage multiple types of player to create community's and ecosystems not to mention get people to try PvP more often when forced into most things people will avoid it but given a choice they don't get nearly as mad but mostly it doesn't demoralize them encouraging then to quit rather then ever get good and add to the community when they feel comfortable idk it's always been like this PvP world gamesdie always like this because the learning curve is just so intense it drives people away

@Arstozka19822 жыл бұрын
No. Just no. I don't agree with you in any kind. There is no reason to fight somebody who does not have anything, is not attacking or providing you and doesn't even give a good fight. It is an act of stupidity. You destroy the day of another person. Don't judge me, let me explain: I have never been a person that was angry because I sunk. I sunk because I wasn't good enough to fight my enemies, so crying does not make any sence. And even if I play just since Season 1, I got 2.6k hours which at least gave me the time to change my opinion. But it never changed. There are 3 reasons to fight sb.: 1. Defence (Possible risk included) 2. Gold 3. Out for a fight But if you are out for a fight, you want a good one. A fight where you dominate or have to stay calm, or anything. It just is not cool to shoot a ship that is not moving, because it's player is not even here. Defence... is the person you fight a risk? If the person attacked you, probably is planning to sink you or steals from you, that is a reason to engage. Huh? The person is obviously a beginner or doing tales? Here is no point to attack. True, you said that people don't really need a reason to attack. But if this is the point, they want a fight as I discribed or at least kind of. But what do you think are reasons to attack somebody? If you would say...: "It is a pirate game" - Yes. But even pirates have their reasons. Sooo... which are they? "People are irrational" - Yes. But people have always their reasons. The reasons might not be rational and this is not important. "Some like to destroy others days" - Okay... [ I N S U L T ]. This is just associal. And if you want, you can count how often I wrote "But". Have a good day and a nice voyage!

Literally just redownloaded, spawned, found a bunch of merchant crates at the outpost. Merchany emmessary comes up as I slink off. I swim over and offer to bring the stuff back. One guy agrees, swims over and lights my ship on fire. Enjoy being PVPers alone on the sea of twats.

I’m not remotely interested in treasure, or quests. I just like putting holes in ships. Every ship that I find, I chase it and sink it, if I can. I don’t even bother checking what treasure is left floating in the ocean after they sink.
@7GSC2513 жыл бұрын
You were attacked because: No reason. If I see a boat I find enjoyment in sinking it. Some players have no use for gold and have met so many friends that new ones don’t matter. Some players enjoy chasing you for 3 hours just to sink you for no reason. Your best bet is to immediately scuttle or fight if you see telltale signs of death. Signs include: High quality mics that sound too good to be headsets. Fat pirates wearing end game stuff Sea dog clothing pirates Gold curse skinny pirates Obsidian guns or clothing Default sailor pirates moving around at inhuman 3,000 hour player movements Merchant costume or reaper pajamas Two guns Default boats If 3 or more signs are present you should probably just fight and face the consequences. We will follow you for 3 hours for the thrill of the hunt. You cannot understand until gold has no value anymore. Its all about the spirit of things. No hate only tough love
@praxi20823 жыл бұрын
Yep, when your gold is in the literal millions and you've bought everything you want, voyages and world events can lose their appeal so you have to make your own fun. Sometimes that fun involves fighting other players.
@KopperNeoman3 жыл бұрын
Two guns is notable, because while the sword has the highest skill ceiling in the game - double gunning is comparatively a doddle to master - it also has the lowest skill floor, and anyone can haha sword go chop. The difference between a sword lord and a landlubber with a club is purely in what he DOES, but people who double gun often are at least competent 7 times out of 10.

Reasons why people want to engage in PvP because they watch streamers that make this game out to be a top-tier PVP game which is clearly false second reason because they are assholes and third reason because they want to and in all honesty they need to find something outside of sea of thieves to boost their ego and ruining others day my response to that is hitting the gym and doing something productive with that negative energy because it's not about the loot it's about the wasted time and some of us unlike the people who enjoy PVP in this game have lives outside of it

I get that you have to try and cater for widest audiences to gather followers etc, but I think you should play to your niche. You are respected for your sword and pvp skills running debatably suboptimal weapons so I think your channel should stand out for that as your brand. I know there's only so many sword tutorials you can make but I feel like there's lots still for you to share even if it's just footage without lots of analysis etc.
