Along with the Lithium we also get Thorium. Thorium is a radio active element and can be seeded to make uranium to run a reactor for power. Currently that thorium is being tossed as waste product of Lithium mining.

I was on a tour around the country with my daughters when we happened upon Winnemucca in 2014 while headed back from California to Tennessee. This is a very interesting place. If memory serves, it has all the earmarks of a ghost town. There are no old-timey western saloons or anything. It is a fully built modern city in the middle of nowhere, as if aliens popped it into existence. The brand-new streets and roads just begin right out of what looks like a desert. Many of the homes, which are well constructed and still look knew as if people are living in them, have no one living in them. Most of the businesses are the same. The only humans I remember being there had gotten off the interstate to take a break or to fill up with gas. There was only one gas station that was open. The entire experience was eerie. We drove around a bit looking for an open grocery store, but the only thing we found was that one gas station.

It's all very well ramping up lithium production to produce more EV's, but the question is where does the power come from to charge those EV's, there are not enough power stations as it is to supply the extra power needed for EV charging, power stations are barely meeting the needs of industry and the home consumer as it is.

There seems to be stories about both Ford and musk-la have been cornering the future production of a salt for some new battery chemistry that is expected to obsolete lithium in batteries in the next few years. My hope is that they replace lithium before they get these mega consuming lithium mines up and running. There is a ton of parallel research going on for all kinds of replacements. I give lithium a decade before they start to phase it out. In the meantime, lithium is working pretty well for now in spite of it's problems. It is giving the industry experience in building and applying EVs that won't change with a battery type change, and electricity to charge them doesn't change so the work on chargers will not be obsoleted. We don't have to scrap all our work to update it. The horse and buggy just added an engine and removed the horse and became a usable car while the industry fired up to build purpose built cars. The buggy makers were not put out of business at all, they leveraged their experience to make cars. Gas lamps just had electric light sockets and bulbs added and are still in use in many places today unchanged. Ford sells the Electric motor setup from the electric mustang to go straight into former CE cars. This is a worn out fact, but Henry ford wanted to build electric cars, but the batteries just were not up to it yet (took 100 years to get there!). He thought of the gas motor as a temporary fix until they could solve the problem. The barons realized they could make money on supplying gas, not electricity, so they forced us to keep the CE for all this time by hobbling electric research because they had a monopoly on the oil, not batteries or electricity.

Look up “triboelectric salt” the only problem with that is they use tend to use fluoride and that puts toxins in the air. There aren't enough "Pros" to make this doable in my opinion. Every super fund sight was caused by corporate greed, in many ways "We the people" were and are left with the responsibility to clean it up, tolerate it, the aftermath of the total environmental and health related damage. The average pay is $60,000? I'm not impressed! Having housing and transportation to and from the work site sounds too much like migrant working conditions and slave labor where you pay The Man, most of your earnings, you never get ahead. Oh yes, the corporate promises of jobs, environmental friendliness, worker respect, bla, bla, bla... Who amongst us hasn't seen the devastation corporations leave behind after they have stripped the land of their desires...piles or holes full of debris, polluted water sources, endless dust clouds from mining activity, sick and poisoned workers. The corporations always talk good enticements, until they have been approved, then they know nothing about anything. Someone explain to me, why we can't say President Bidens name? Unless there is a permanent OSHA rep, EPA rep and Union on site 24/7 to protect us from them, I'd say NO. If it's Indian land, who cares what was on it or what happened there, or buried there. It's not ours to do as we wish with it! More insult to injury

Last but not least, lithium is explosive, petrol is flammable but diesel isn't even flammable unless pressurised. People are sacrificing more switching to evs
@AlexPuhl15 сағат бұрын
This is such a dishonest comment. lets look at the big picture along with some facts you conveniently left out. We're doing this because of climate change, overall electrical vehicles are less polluting in the long run. The power grid is becoming greener and greener which makes electric vehicles greener, that is just not an option for gas powered vehicles. Some people also are also already powering their electric vehicles completely with green energy via roof solar panels. Delivering electricity is way cheaper and easier than transporting fuel, most of the system is already in place, just need more EV charging stations at the final point of delivery. Lastly, gas powered vehicles smell like shit, especially the older ones and they're loud. Almost no advancements in tech have 0 drawbacks, but overall electrical vehicles are better. We're sacrificing much less switching to EVs and almost all credible experts on this topic would agree w/ what I'm saying here.
