Send it Tyler. It's a huge reward when you fix it yourself and you are successful. Anybody can pay to have something fixed, but you fix it yourself. That one reason I like your channel.

As I was watching you tear down and then put this thing for the bio-diesel back together, I thought '' IMAGINE THE NIGHT TERRORS THAT THE ENGINEERS WHAT DESIGN AND BUILD THESE THINGS HAVE!!'' And I live in the heart of a big city in the lower southwest of the USA. E.G. I have never worked on these. Great stuff friend.

Before removing the pump did you rotate the engine to line up the pump timing marks. They are in that little side cover that all the diesel drained out off? Watch last episode of Salvage Workshop for this and how to rebuild/clean the pump to get it working again.

@@dondiego2262 as I said, he turned the engine over to time the pump before he took it off. If you did not do that you are going to have to sort that out when you put it back on.

Nice job on the cleanup. If you confident everything is reinstalled, I would mount it and try It with a method of choking off the air in case. people use a board, but I found a thick heavy book Works best for tight seal. Also, everyone seems worried about timing. Not a problem on these pumps as the drive shaft has a dot on one of the tangs. Also, a corresponding dot inside the pump coupler. Use a large screwdriver to rotate pump until the dot's match and install. Your biggest worry is not rolling over the umbrella seals, when installing, which results in crankcase oil dilution. They make a tool for this, but I grease them up really good and carefully slide on. Also removing one or two of the injector lines gives more room . Good luck Waiting to hear it run. btw Area Diesel here in IL and elsewhere has some great videos on UTube. You might pick up a few "initial settings" TGP

Chances of it running away are slim to none, they do have forgiveness. I believe you have a working pump now, even if it has some leaks or what not... once running, will determine if it needs a shop to fix but you got this far... you can get kits for them an no they are not the hard to fix pumps.... there are some like on cat motors that will be ruined if not taken apart right... this is a homeowner special made to be fixed at home. I still get amazed that someone can build something like this from scratch

Good video! Looks like you did great research and used the best available information to that you could find. Most importantly you found problems that existed. I would put it on and run it! Also, what’s the significance of the Duke Heart Center shirt? I’m in North Carolina where it’s located and was wondering?

I keep mine where I can close the air intake very quickly if I've just finished working on it. Anything flat enough that covers the air intake. Also in the winter moisture freezing in that pump can cause a run away engine.

Up here there charge 1200 to rebuild 1400 to test a used pump. Or 1200 for a new rebuild pump. I’ve been wanting to take my pump apart for a few days but it’s hard to find any information of these pumps

Did you replace injectors? We did a video on that you should watch. It made a little difference. Other than that… adjust the valves… check compression. Ours needs ether too, they’re just old diesels without glow plugs.

IF you're going to 'FIX' the pump you need to set up a 5 gallon bucket of clean fuel as a fuel source rather than to keep sucking OLD , contaminated fuel from the dozer tank !!!!! IF it runs as it should , then you're required to remove the tank and re establish IT as a Clean Source of fuel along with replacing ALL filters

The key adjustments are the transfer pump pressure regulator, the guide rod governor spring preloads, the timing advance spring force and the roller retainer leaf spring. I would say send it. Metering valve and it's spring are critical points, the shut off mechanism must positively close the valve. On the bench, the governor spring will open metering valve slightly, the flyweight action closes it. This is how idle speed is stabilized, and all speeds in between as the throttle shaft increases governor spring load. I found full strength Diesel Mechanic in a Bottle works great for cleaning these pumps. But with stuck plungers and clogged vent wire needed physical cleaning. You can pinch off return fuel line to stop a runaway. High case pressure prevents transfer pressure from filling plunger bore.

Actually the pump is very simple I can tear the pump apart in about an hour at the most clean it and put it back together in about an hour and a half to two hours so total of 3 hours time. The metering valve in the main rotor is difficult to get out. The rollers and plungers that are in the opposite end of the rotor can be a little difficult but as long as you don't mess with the leaf spring adjustment screw that dictates how much fuel can get between the rollers then putting it back together is not a big deal. I was very surprised to see that he did not tie the throttle back when he got done with it because when you do that the weights that are in the wait wheel for the governor will fall out and you have to take the pump off back apart. So when you fit the pump head back into the case you're supposed to tie the throttle back which keeps the governor Fork pressing on the weights and stops it from falling apart inside.
