Does anyone else appreciate the more subtle details/attention they put in this game? Seeing things like how Leon's gait and posture change for each of his health stages, how various cuts/blood show up in approximate areas he was hit during an attack (outside of animations), and even him grunting/exhaling more often when he's in an injured stage is really interesting to me. Might not be anything revolutionary, but I appreciate the immersion, especially since these details are in the actual gameplay and not just a cutscene.

If you watch last episode. When leon is coming out of a sewer, when he gets first to the parking lot he hesitates a moment and then he kinda like... moves his tonge around in anticipation. It's really subtle but it is great. Animation in games has gone a really long way, even tho it's kinda "standard" nowadays the animations in this game are quite superb. Not all games do that really.

Yeah, the technology to do it is there, it's just that a lot of modern AAA publishers and/or dev teams are lazy and don't utilize it to the fullest extent, if at all, in a lot of games. You have to find mods for that instead, which is honestly really disappointing for me because when I was a kid I was excited to see what developers would be able to achieve making video games in the future with more advanced technology. Little did my poor naive child self realize that the marked reduction in quality in certain video game franchises was a sign of things to come, and the video game industry would be taken over by corporate giants who care more about increasing their profit margins in the short term than producing quality games. Thus lowering the bar significantly for the quality expected from new game releases in the eyes of the general public, which it seems some people are only just opening their eyes to now. Anyway, this went on a whole rambling tangent, but the point is, sure, games now are still much higher quality than they were even a decade ago, but most of the ones released by major producers in the industry are lazy and half assed for the resources they have available to them. Most modern AAA releases could be much better, if only there weren't corporate shills in charge of producing them who are more concerned with quantity over quality to make a quick profit for whichever corporate heads who's shoe heels they're licking.

However I wrote this comment before watching those videos, and only had knowledge of RE2:R and RE7. The ideology of using prisoners for test subjects isn't new. It's a concept used in other medias as well. The orphanage addition mirrors that of the US Government's experiments with MK-Ultra. Just put 2 and 2 together.

To clarify the "reduces recoil and increases bullet speed" line, it's actually not just a silly game logic thing. The extra barrel length provides a moment of additional time for the bullet to receive the acceleration from the burning powder, increasing the speed of the round in flight. That extra velocity would result in additional force upon impact which COULD potentially result in "more damage". Also, with the combination of less unburnt powder when the round leaves the chamber, more weight towards the end of the barrel, and the compensators that appear to be on the top of that barrel, felt recoil would noticeably drop. So, yay for boom-boom science.
