I remember I was in court in Embu for succession and there was a family that was ahead of us getting their hearing from the judge done on land succession. It was a mother and her son's. (They introduced themselves to the judge) The judge looked at their documents and asked "Are these the only children?" The mother said "I have a daughter but I'm only giving land to my son's" The judge asked "Why isn't she getting land?" And the mother replied, "I've decided to just give my son's land." The judge respectfully said, "Let your daughter appear before the court and say she doesn't want land. Then and only then will I approve this succession of land." And that's how they left the court room.

These are the stories that make me thankful for my late parents and siblings. I come from a big family but my parents gave us each a title deed to our ancestral land. Whatever they didn't settle before death has been equally divided amongst all of us even among my brothers widows and children, we all received our title deeds, even those of us in America. The proceeds from rent are also equally divided amongst all of us with no dispute. Even my wealthiest siblings who earn millions every month get an equal share. I can't imagine it any other way. My heart breaks for single and divorced women, as I'm one of them, but I've been shown nothing but kindness by my siblings

Everyone is born with a particular personality, it does not matter how educated one becomes, when one has narcissistic tendencies, they will always have such traits throughout their lives. So my sister, we thank God you are still alive, some would have killed you for such temporal gains of your parents inheritance. It is heart wrenching to know that you grew up well but their true colours emerged when you least expected. Perhaps lean more on your cousins till you are back on your feet, continue with your life. One day they will come crawling on their knees and you will have to forgive them. I just advice that you forgive them already. God will see you through as you put effort on your future life. When a parent dies suddenly without a will, it leaves a big loophole for exploitation, you would think because you've grown up together in a loving supportive home, all your siblings would cooperate together fairly, but for some reason known only to the siblings causing the division, they feel more entitled to a greater share than others. This is an issue I hear all the time, but due to my parents setting out their wishes by leaving a will this issue, which tried to arise couldn't, because of the presence of a legal, binding will. Get a will in place to secure your daughters inheritance.

Take it further and apply for a ‘caveat’ to stop any further actions on all your mothers properties. The law states that all children have a right to inherit their parents property women too; whether married or not. Sons or Daughters all are equal. The days long are long gone when only male children can inherit… especially land. All children in this case are sharing the same father and mother. Get a fresh law firm to represent your interests ‘pro bono’ that specializes in such matters. All daughters whether married or not have a right to inherit their parents properties. A law firm that can’t be compromised. Did your mother leave a will ? Although nowadays it means nothing and can be changed! It doesn’t matter if the other brothers have friends in high places or have ‘influence’. The law is clear. They are frustrating you so that you can give up. It is your right to inherit your mother’s property. Don’t give up Margaret
