I got home and support health care for all (just like I had in the military) and have no problem with cutting the defense budget since their are no more "super powers" with as viable and Army, Navy and Air Force, as we have. That money could go into paying for trades and HS diploma's to get families off welfare and paying some damn taxes. You know, "Leftist" ideas like that. And, I have 0 respect for Sen. And another @ 10 years in the Active Reserves. There was plenty of people complaining about our foreign policy back in the 70's, as well. You mean THIS Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller???" The former infantry Marine and battalion commander of the Advanced Infantry Training Battalion at the School of Infantry-East in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, first made waves Aug. 26 with a video that went viral, sharing his “growing discontent and contempt” of “ineptitude at the foreign policy level.” Maybe this guy missed the part where the military is subordinate to the civilian?? Maybe his missed the part where he is supposed to train, lead and inspire his men? And, if he can't do that (which he obviously coudn't) he does not tear down military esprit de corp and endanger the lives of his fellow warriors. He resigns his commission and, when, once again in civilian clothes, and not endangering the safety and security of his fellow Marines, condemn away. Condemn away, without the ability to use the full force and weight of his rank and the USMC, against those he's serving with. Without the ability to make it appear that anyone else in the Marine Corp agrees with him. And, if they did, they can do the same, resign their rank and condemn our policies, as civilians. I'm just thankful he was never my commanding officer.

Most, if not all people have any knowledge much less understanding of nuclear launch protocols. Moreover, the Marines are a security force that does not deal with these weapons. The majority of these nuclear weapon systems are maintained by US Air Force. Only the most stable launch officers are given the authority to execute launch codes - the keys to Armageddon. The chairman of the joint chiefs is also charged with preventing (through diplomacy) as well as executing war planning. I believe that Milley is apolitical and does his job well and is faithful to his oath to defend our country no matter how much flack he gets for adhering to this oath. Hard time for a long time. Often times at hard labor. How about 12 hours a day breaking rocks with a sledgehammer. I heard one hard labor task was to move by hand an entire pile of rocks from one pile to make another pile. When finished move that rock pile back to where you started from. Lather, rinse, repeat. That's seven days a week. One hour for religious services every Sunday, Saturday or Friday.

@garfieldfarkle
@garfieldfarkle 3 жыл бұрын
See that shiny oval-shaped decoration with a horizontal bar through it over his ribbons? That is called a "Combat Infantryman Badge." It is one of the most coveted awards because to earn one, a soldier has to serve a tour of duty in which they were actively engaged in ground combat with the enemy. It is awarded to those up to the rank of Colonel and the unit they engage the enemy with has to be brigade-sized or smaller. At the top of Milley's CIB you'll see a little star. That means he has earned this award twice. As far as being a Green Beret, don't worry about what someone said. Look on Milley's left shoulder at the top of his arm. There is a rainbow-shaped thing that says "Special Forces" in yellow letters over a blue background. That means he is a Green Beret. Directly under it is another one in the shape of an arc that says "Ranger" in yellow letters on a black background. That means Milley is a Ranger, too. I am not positive, but I think a soldier has to be a Ranger before they can try to become a Green Beret. When I was growing up in the 60s, all we kids knew what lots of the ribbons and medals represented. We knew many of the division patches, too. Someone's awards, badges and ribbons tell you about their career and can be read like a book to those who have taken the time to find out what all those things on a uniform signify. Looking at Milley's uniform we also see he is a Special Operations scuba diver and an expert parachutist. Back then, patriotic Americans knew better than to call a man wearing what Milley wears a "coward," especially when they have no evidence to support such a vile epithet hurled by a keyboard commando. Such sliming of a man like Milley was seen as unpatriotic. Standards have slipped.

@garfieldfarkle
@garfieldfarkle 3 жыл бұрын
@@remedy-1879 For 30 years I lived near D.C. and was well acquainted with a half dozen or so USMC commandants, many members of the joint chiefs and too many other senior officers at that level to count. What Milley did has been blown out of proportion and taken out of context. He was carrying out policy the way many at that level do. An offhand remark has led people with no respect for a patriot with his decades of service to try to make political hay. Let's be honest, that's what this is about. On his medals and awards, of course you are correct. Beginning with OIF a certain medal inflation took place. For example, it seemed the Army began automatically awarding Bronze Stars with a combat 'V' to every Purple Heart recipient, even if all they did was be in a vehicle that was hit by an IED, but did nothing further. But when I see that Ranger tab, Special Forces tab and then the scuba badge, I know this is one tough hombre with a rare skill set who excelled and excelled and excelled some more. This is a man with no quit in him. He will work himself to death to accomplish a task. I need a lot more to believe a man with that kind of drive and dedication is going to quickly fold up and sell out his country for what, anyway? It does not add up. I think we should be careful about using certain words like "Holocaust," "racism," and "traitor." When loaded words like those become misused they lose the shock power they carry and the meaning becomes diluted. That's not a good thing. When our nation was founded, the crime of treason had been yanked and stretched to where it was a charge used to cover anything someone did the king found objectionable. This was something our Founding Fathers were adamant about preventing, so the defined it in the Constitution. What we read in the Constitution and in subsequent court decisions, treason has been kept to a narrow definition. A number of hurdles have to be gotten over. A traitor may only commit treason when the U.S. is in a formal, Congressionally-declared war. The person has to give "aid and comfort" to the enemy. An "enemy" nation is not just one we don't like. No legally declared war, no legal enemy to give aid and comfort to. Giving aid and comfort has been defined as significantly more than giving verbal support or distributing their propaganda. It has to be tangible, like a shipment of arms. If someone sent the enemy a brace of pistol, that wouldn't be it. There have to be two eyewitnesses to the delivery of aid and comfort, and there may be a little more to it I'm forgetting. So we can't honestly call Milley a traitor. When a man has given the kind of service Milley has, I need more than an offhand remark that was not acted upon before I condemn him. We Americans like to pretend we support our military, but in too many cases that support is a mile wide and an inch deep. We will throw them overboard at the first sniff of trouble. I think they deserve better than having everyone flee their side at the first sound of firing in the distance. Those ribbons and badges on Milley's chest tell me about a long career of skilled service. To me, when judging the kind of man he is, what I see there tells me more than this offhand remark. I don't think it is logical to give the remark and all that service equal weight, much less see that remark as outweighing his service. Damian, I appreciate your service. I mean that. If you've had difficulty with the VA, I'm sorry about that, too. I remember when we first went into Iraq there were requests made to increase funding to the VA to meet the expected influx of casualties to Since they were telling us it was going to be a "cakewalk" and the troops would be home for Christmas, that would have looked bad. So they just pretended the already stretched VA could handle it. About that time they finally approved treatment for things related to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam, and the VA had a massive influx of claims and work to do, but did not get the funding to deal with it. Massive backlogs were piled onto existing backlogs. They just kept pretending the VA could handle it. We expect loyalty from our troops - and get it - but loyalty has to be a two-way street. It has to flow up the chain of command and down the chain of command. We citizens must be as loyal to our veterans as they are to us. We citizens owe our veterans proper treatment and we do a shitty job of meeting that obligation. We can find plenty of billions to buy sexy new fighter planes but we then turn around and build flimsy base housing and nickel-and-dime them on basic services. Damian, thanks again.

Milley could also be charged under Article 103a for covering highly privileged military information, vital intelligence or war plans to a foreign adversary. That constitutes as espionage. One can receive the death penalty if found guilty. There is a transcript of the call between Milley and Pelosi. This dealt with Trump having the codes to nukes. Milley could be charged with Article 94 of the UCMJ. This deals with sedition - "the intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority." To put a nail in the sedition coffin, so to speak, Milley supposedly ordered officers in the Pentagon to bypass Trump if he were to undertake any type of military actions. Milley could also be charged with several counts of insubordination, under Article 91, conduct unbecoming of an officer, under Article 133, and bringing discredit upon the service, under Article 134 of the UCMJ.

@smokejaguarsix7757
@smokejaguarsix7757 3 жыл бұрын
@@hydguy i am referring to what he said. Milley spoke out publicly against Trumps actions at the church. Milley made a public political statement strongly disagreeing with the President and doing so on national television for which he was not punished. Milley acted in a political capacity which is absolutely against Army regulations and good order and discipline. The Marine LTC also made a statement, which was political (it was) demanding accountability from Milley and Marine leadership. Milley and the Marine Corps is punishing him even though he is morally correct in his statement and they are punishing him for making a public, political statement. But Milley did it without consequence. He even spoke with journalists without authorization from the president. He made his own authorization. He and the Marine Commandant both also publicly asserted under oath that President Biden lied. So it is hypocritical and morally repugnant that the military punish this Marine LTC for violating the UCMJ exactly the same way they themselves did without being punished. I am not saying the Marine LTC was wrong. Far from it. I am saying that Milley and the Marine Commandant both became political and called out their leadership (Biden) and weren't punished. Biden did lie and even though Milley should have resigned in disgrace for his abject failure in Afghanistan he was right to tell the American people that Biden lied about everything. The Marine LTC was also right and should be celebrated for calling on senior leadership to be held accountable. And I am a retired field grade officer myself and have been in this position of holding more senior leadership accountable for violations of the UCMJ and Joint and Federal regulation and law. I went to the IG of another Agency when our own IG refused to get involved and the resultant investigation had far ranging consequences but the culprits were not fired. They were quietly moved to the side and even lauded for their achievements despite having committed massive fraud and broken rules and regulations that they had severely punished others for breaking on a much smaller scale. The military needs a paradigm shift. Senior leaders must be held to the highest standards and junior and mid level leaders need to be able to make and learn from their mistakes without being crushed for them. I applaud LTC Scheller for his brave stance and stand by him.
