Liverpool are a changing team. They have players that could suit a patient system like MacAllister and Jones. And their more ‘chaos’ players like Salah could be on their way. I’m sure if Alonso goes to Liverpool, he will adapt and use the 3-2-5 Klopp uses right now. And he has a similar attitude to pressing and counterpressing.

Bundesliga loves the long ball game, but Leverkusen do it the least, suggesting that in a move to EPL that trend would hold based on Xabi's preference for a controlled build up. Good eye. I didn't notice that 1st time through.

No no there's a difference. In the video, Liverpool COMPLETED the 2nd most long passes (44 per game) so the ATTEMPTS are a lot lot more, 100s maybe. Leverkusen have ATTEMPTED the least long passes so actual completion amount is lot less

I saw another video where they said it could work. Liverpool were heavily linked with Hincapie in the summer but he stayed at the end. So Hincapie/Gomez , VVD, Konate/Quansah for the back 3. Conor Bradley plays very similarly like RWB Frimpong & Robbo/ Tsimi love goung forwards too. Macca/Endo & Trent as double pivot. Szoboszlai plays as a Left forward for Hungary just like Wirtz plays for Leverkusen...involves in attack but more in linkup play. & Hungary's 3 forwards stay close & compact as the wing backs play wide just like Leverkusen. So Szoboszlai & Jota/Diaz & Gakpo/Nunez

Is this a fundamental difference in managerial philosophy, or just a difference in the pace of the two leagues and the tactics necessary to be elite teams in them? The top two teams in the PL played the most direct passes, presumably in an attempt to beat higher presses that a lot of teams use. Meanwhile, the top two teams in the Bundesliga have played the fewest long passes, presumably because they get more time on the ball in their defensive third. Any manager who considers themselves to be elite should be prepared to adapt their tactics, depending on where and who they’re playing.

Any tactics that work well would be fine. Alonso uses overloading and free space tactics that are good things which are better than Klopp's actually. 4-3-1-2 or 3-4-3 or adapted 3-4-1-2 also good for strong defense that can turn attack in transition very quickly. Liverpool in Klopp's era is weak against counter attacks evidently.

I think Klopps play style and tactics are very very difficult to learn and perfect. I don’t know many managers who even play remotely close to him, or have had a similar amount of success. Liverpool will most likely have to rebuild and get players for a new system, most likely similar to a possession based team. It’s unfortunate but not many coaches coach, like Klopp. So Liverpool fans will probably have to hope their next manager comes in and can quickly transition to their play style, or Liverpool will suffer for a couple of years as they try to rebuild. Hopefully they don’t go down the Barcelona route and make silly transfers as soon as he leaves. Or they can hope Klopp stays at the end of the season. -that’s probably their best bet imo. Transitioning from a manager that’s been at a club for a long time is very hard. Unless the club has the bets of the best players, like Barcelona 2008-2019, or Real Madrid 2009-2018 going from one manager to the next is very hard for a team to have success since in the cases of Barcelona and Real Madrid from back then, it’s the players winning the game and probably playing loosely to what the manager wants. Like if I put Messi and Xavi together and just tell them to go play and tell the defence to defend that’s about all you have to do. Or tell Ronaldo to go get some goals and for Real Madrid to defend. I could probably win a league title irl if I had either of those teams. But in this situation where the play style is more important than the players it’ll be hard to transition.

I find it strange klopp is leaving. This rebuild is going well, the academy players are joining are this could be a lfc team that dominates Europe. When klopp joined he had to rebuild a team from 5(if I recall). His second rebuild is from a much better positions, this team needs a 6 and a a salah matip replacement of they leave. Klopp has his best depth of squad and we are looking into form with a great balance. I can't for the life of me see why klopp leaves. Genuinely i think he's shooting himself and us in the foot. Is he nervous of success, is fsg doing something or is this a tactic to win the league. All year he has spoke about being energised with this new team and now he wants to leave? I can't understand it, if he stays he could dominate Europe easily. This team trust me, isn't as clean yet as mane salah firmino. Yet it's bascially unbeaten bar spurs(which was a robbery) expect diaz n nunez to hit form as they hit peak. Genuinely I jus get it, and I don't under the desire for alonso. We shoukd be getting a proven manager like ie tuchel Imo. Would be interested to read your opinion on some of the things of referred too.

He even work in the xmas period. Except xmas eve and xmas day. His boys were teen back then...eating ice.cream.when Klopp got the call. Now he is à grandfather. Let him rest up and travel.the world. I would.not be surprised if Klopp manage Liverpool again in the future.

If Jot or Gakpo play in the middle...they tend to service Diaz. Salah service Nunez or if Trent bomb forward or Szobo...because of the rotational triangle....Salah will pass to those two.

Quick thought. Use of the long passes statistic doesn't necessarily show that Liverpool likes to get the ball forward quickly, because lo and behold, Man City is first on that list and yet that's arguably the most patient team in the league when it comes to building attacks.

That's what we thought Erik Ten Hag would bring to Manchester United.
