My problem with her is her scaling is all over the place. Skill single hit. Is pyro-attack. The shield is def. And dot, is pyro attack but need shied. Ult is physical, and pyro. But her elemental reaction is useless Only her long CD skill hit has a bigger number. All her other pyro damage is multi hit but low damage. Meaning her vape and melt damage is low. Overload knocks enemies from her attacks. Her theme is fire though.

It's a shame that Xinyan hasn't ever had a story spotlight because I feel like her mere presence represents something radical and important to the world of Teyvat. Liyue is the city of Geo; rigid, structured, traditionalist, enduring, where success is measured in material wealth. Most other characters from Liyue hold some manner of station or duty; Zhongli, Ningguan, Chongyun, Xingqui, Keqing, even the goofy Hu Tao is appointed to a rank and title. And while there are some characters who question or defy this way of life (Keqing, Xingqui, Beidou, Xiangling), none do it with the explosive force that Xinyan does. Xinyan is a rebel in every sense of the term; she is not looking to succeed by conforming to what came before or by playing by the rules. She is looking to shake the foundations of the very city through her music. It's telling that we begin our story in Mondstadt; The City of Wind, a city about freedom and music, a city of merchants, bards, and poets. And through it, we meet Venti the bard, a character who embodies the freedom of expression through song. Liyue does not have this, and if they do have musicians, they are traditional and orthodox. This is the boulder that Xinyan is striking against. Xinyan is the magma that bursts forth from the rock and soil, shattering the very ground and surging outward with fire and fury. Even if society rejects her, they cannot pacify her. She will keep on rocking, until one by one, everyone will feel the heat of her music.

I think we have the same thought bro. Although Xinyan pursues freedom. But we also see that she has a lot of respect for the tradition of Liyue. Her outfit is woven in traditional methods and her drums and guitar are also influenced by traditional instruments.

She could have easily just moved to Fontaine where rock is accepted, but not only did she choose to stay in Liyue, she still identifies as a Liyue girl at heart. Even despite her rebellious outward attitude, she's skilled at cooking, sewing, and maintaining a clean house, so it's not like she's out to destroy Liyue's traditional values. This too, is an act of rebellion; lashing back at the prejudices of those who thought she couldn't be a "proper Liyue lady" because of her appearance and attitude. She is such a rich character and I think she's absolutely deserving of a story or a feature of some kind.

I really like this line of thinking because it goes well with the storyline that Liyue as a state and culture are heading in a new direction. Xinyan fits in well here because she is part of the change. People in the city recognize an atmosphere of "change" and usually explain this as part of the transition away from their political reliance on Rex Lapis, but having Xinyan helps to flesh out that atmosphere so you can get a sense of her being part of the future of Liyue. She fits in really well with the main story, it's a shame they don't use her more.

Yea, I use her with chongyun, Barbara and venti/ fishl. My Xinyan does like 8- 10k crit (normal/ charged attack) and 50-40k on her burst alone with no elemental reactions. She’s stupidly OP when built right, but she’s hard to build

I feel like Xinyan should be reworked to have a vacuum on her e, like a charm. It would make thematic sense to lure in opponents with the "power of music" and then to "blow them away" with your ult, that way the abilities actually work in a somewhat cohesive way.

They don't really seem to be interested in reworking any characters except the money making 5 stars. Rather than changing the character because I doubt they will, they might want to create a weapon specifically built for her. A claymore that boosts physical damage, increases charged attack damage, and pulls enemies in when doing a charged attack would be a really good weapon for her, and would probably be pretty solid on Razor as well. However it wouldn't be good on Noelle because she gets value from her burst, which is big enough that you don't need to pull enemies in and would get no benefit from the physical damage bonus.

@@rainbowcraft2694 Sadly, they seem to be focusing on releasing more content and characters as well as fixing bugs than considering to buff characters which will be a long way away. Zhongli was the outliner since he's a community favorite and he was exceptionally flawed but it seemed kinda unfair and miHoYo's mistake wouldn't be fixed due to it. By releasing Zhongli in a bad state and buffing him is both a good and bad PR move since it shows that they listened to the community and saw the opportunity of his popularity so they buffed him to cash him in. But the downside being is this made everyone realize that they can buff characters just by throwing a riot online swaying devs. This is unfair to those characters that are now in a worse state than Zhongli that is now getting shafted at the bottom since they aren't making enough money for them. This was also bad since it show's miHoYo's balancing issues with the game which is already shown with how biased they are with Pyro and Cryo meta as well as their poor decisions on designing character kits like locking constellations with Childe & Zhongli testing on how much they can make whales pay up.

Honestly, I feel like the only thing she needs is more attack speed ramping on her C1 to have a cohesive kit. It is supposed to be acceleration after all, so if she got faster attack speed on every crit, stacking that via spin then becomes her whole playstyle. Her c2 100% multi-hit ult then also stacks up your c1, which is her fastest attack as a claymore. Since c6 also boosts your charged attack damage, then you just spin to win, with a spin that gets faster as you go.

Xinyan is actually the main reason I started playing genshin, a lot of my friends were playing it at the time but it wasnt until I saw the first video of her I thought she looked so cool, I figured I’d give genshin a try and if I liked it enough I’d continue to play and just save for her, when the zhongli banner dropped I got c3 of her very quickly and she’s still one of my favs to this day!

It was a very petty thing to do but they got their way and now zhongli is a pretty good physical dps option.

@@primetimehome People were doing 200k ults with zhongli back then, and that was still relatively early in the game when pretty much no one had a full set of top tier artifacts for him. Not to mention his ult literally didn't change at all and its considered top 5 best ults in the game, and thats just considering the damage, the 4 second multi target CC was a pretty nice bonus. But i do agree with you, venti back then was absolutely disgusting and people were expecting that from zhongli, and he ended up being relatively average. That being said the community was being extremely childish, "look xinan's shield is almost as good as zhongli's when you're against pyro enemies, and she can do physical damage too! she's better than him" or "Look diona's shield is almost as good as zhongli's when you're fighting cryo enemies and she can also heal, she's better than him" It was mess.

@@imanina121 the pyro ruins the main reaction that the physical comp needs, the electro conduct (ice+electro) Xinyans problem is that she has an element that is mostly used as an EM dps and it contributes nothing to the physical playstyle. She works well with razoe for atk speed stacking, as razor gets a boost from his ult, but for someone like Eula is just not worth it, like the main squad for eula that i see atm is 2x ice 2x electro (eula, diona, fishl,beidou)

I definitely find that my neglect of Xinyan comes down to how disconnected she feels to the world as a whole. She’s never mentioned in NPC dialogue or discoverable books, while Xianling, Xiao, and Beidou (among others) are. No one else ever mentions rock music, which makes it hard to believe that she’s actually famous. In the English dub, she has a Southern accent, which no other character (playable or otherwise) has. She feels anachronistic, like something the devs made to have something “modern,” and not like an organic part of the world.

I build her as a burst support, i put everything to crit dmg and atk%. The result is great, she does tons of physical dmg but her shield is weak because she has low defense. For anyone who gonna say that i built her wrong, no, i’ve tried defense build, and it’s way worst, I can pretty much replace her with any shield character if I build her defense build, since all of her dmg scale of her atk, that is why people neglected her because they don’t understand how to build her and make her useful, so I listened to what OkCode say on Tenha’s video of Xinyan. And built her the same way as he built, which is Damage focus and yeah, energy recharge, because you will want that free shield from her Burst, since your shield is weak. Being able to activate her shield multiple times will eliminate the disadvantage of her long E cooldown and weak scaling shield.

I'm Friendship level 7, so close to getting to Level 8. My sweet precious rockstar is one of my 4 mains who I focus on. Her burst is hella awesome, and she works very very well with Fischl because of the Overloaded elemental reaction, and the pyro damage on enemies when activating her shield easily reaches 1k for me, despite not having invested time in building her just yet.

I think the biggest mess up they did was make her Shield scale with Defense instead of attack. It's the only shield that constantly attacks, and the rest of her kit geared towards that stat. Defense splits it horribly. But then again, she might be overpowered if it did scale with attack. Though to be honest, Mihoyo doesn't really seem to have a problem with having overpowered characters.

It doesn't even have to be all of them; it can be Lisa in the Library, Jean in her office, Xingqiu at the book store in Liyue Harbor...they can even give them certain places to be depending on the hour and the day. It would be nice, and it shouldn't just be the playable characters; they should add more npcs as well, especially during the festivals. They felt so empty.

I'm really glad some people are finally giving Xinyan the attention she really deserves. Mihoyo and the community kinda do her super dirty. I knew it was bad but I never fully realized how much she's just neglected even in just the world itself. like at least with beidou, a lot of NPCs talk about her, and you can visit her ship. Xinyan is just,,,,, nowhere to be seen. she's been one of my main DPSs and favorite character ever since she released. and I understand all the 'downsides' of her abilities but I've never had a problem with them in practice lol. hopefully, inclusion in the story or hangout quests will bring her into the lime light.

The reason why she caught my attention was simple: she's the only character besides Kaeya with dark skin, so she's really the only character I can see myself in (as I am a girl). Her attitude and aesthetic were a bonus, and her personality is just the cherry on top, she's a hardworking cutie! And mihoyo's treatment towards her it's truly disappointing. I wouldn't be surprised if they just put her into the game for representation points /as there are dark-skinned asians too/, especially after the Hillichurls situation... Edit: I do agree that is wise to expect more diversity in designs as the game progresses. I don't know everything about the game, especially the lore and future regions, so that didn't cross my mind

Uhh, sorry if I come across as a little pedantic when saying this, but Xinyan's ethnicity is Liyue/Chinese. Dark-skinned Asians do exist, there are quite a lot of them. I get what you're saying about relatability, but it's highly unlikely that this is for brownie points, and more likely that Mihoyo simply wants to represent more aspects of their own culture. I'm pretty sure the majority of characters in future regions such as Sumeru and Natlan will be dark-skinned, as is natural in a more fantasy setting where not many people would immigrate.

I really hope Mihoyo gives Xinyan more friends, another reason people don't know about her is that she's not seen hanging out with the other characters as much. In her voice lines, she's actually best friends with Xiangling but has a negative opinion (Chongyun) or lack thereof (any other liyue playable character except for Yunjin, not playable i think). Like, almost every Monstadt character has an opinion of Razor, an outsider who frequently comes and goes but Xinyan has BARELY ANYTHING. It's not that hard to put her into the story, she's a musician for pete's sake! Everyone sees her on stage!!
