Why Yo Should be Playing: Silent Death

My friend and I got into Silent Death in the first addition. We played EVERY scenario and even a campaign. Then, when the first two expansions came out(Overkill: The Ptolemean Wars and Black Guard)we played them as well, setting up our squadrons and facing off in space.😊 We even go back to it from time to time. GREAT game.

I played SilentDeathquite a bunch and really enjoyed. It's just as you mentioned. In terms of spaceships, I prefer the 1st edition designs. They were more consistent. . Next millénium designs were more varied and distinct.

They certainly had their own style. Those I can see as the original and the new as refits. Then I would enjoy the refits from Operation Dry Dock more.

Always liked Silent Death. I got into it when it was first released and was impressed by the die mechanics. I was doing some writing for Iron Crown back then, so when I told ICE I was going to run a SIlent Death tournament at RedCon (at Royal Military College in Kingston) they sent plenty of merch as prizes. Everyone had a lot of fun.

bought a copy of this at a swap meet and then just let it sit for almost 2 years. Then when we finally broke it out I was blown away. such a fun game, even when your trying to remember where all the torpedos are headed

They sold the right at one and yes, that was a thing. Luckily, the right moved forward and the game still exists.

The main book and 2 sprues of the minis is a good start. Then 2 more sprues and then some of the metal later. You don't need ANY other books until you feel the devotion. Not particularly that I know of. Your best bet is actually to join a generic group or forum for spaceship combat

Interesting system but I cannot find how large map I need (hex x hex sieze).

what size ships are you using? If you are using a standard 25mm ship, you will want to play on 1.5 inch hexes. preferably a map that would fill a 4x6 table, although you could get away with 4x4.

@@adamkubica83 It should be if you play with a smaller number of ships or slower ship, which is still a great game! Personally, I loved played the gunboats more than the fighters.
