You've probably seen clips from question period before. Maybe you've visited the legislature to see MPPs debate in person. If you've gone, you know there are items you can't bring into Queen's Park: weapons, aerosols, and explosive materials to name a few. But why not a phone or a pen?
It turns out these restrictions date back to before Canada even existed. You see, parliament as well as provincial legislatures inherited the same traditions as their British counterparts. That means Queen's Park maintains the right to control its records and proceedings - only internal staff can broadcast the proceedings. Not visitors.
