I researched that , and it is not an opinion that is statement of fact . If it isn't about that why isn't Phillip soliciting donations for an anti stalking charity for example . One last thing , did anybody else notice the amount of I , Me ,My in his little diatribe ? Self obsessed attention seeking ? 😅
@iamthat Жыл бұрын
@@douglasbatley Douglas you are a despicable person. (Just my opinion). Why are you even interested in my story? And why are you researching me? Are you a journalist or just another obsessed stalker like Belfield? Yes it is difficult being a former theatre blogger. Especially as this was a result of Belfield’s targeted harassment and attack against me, which destroyed my confidence and self worth leaving me damaged and suicide. I’m disgusted that you seem to think that was acceptable or that I deserved it, or that I don’t deserve compensation and damages. Of course you are welcome to your misguided, uninformed and inaccurate opinion that my claim is “an egotistical craving for attention and vengeance than a fair payment”. But as I have said quite clearly and repeatedly, I am not doing this for the money or publicity. I did not have to resort to making videos and asking for help. My videos are a necessity to present my side of the story so that people can understand why I am taking legal action against Belfield. You should also recognise that I kept quite and did not make any videos about Belfield for an entire year, after his trial, unlike History Debunked who made several. You might also be interested to know that I was even prepared to sign a confidentiality agreement in return for an out of court settlement, which Belfield requested. I was perfectly prepared (at first) to keep quiet and would not have made any of these videos, had I not been backed in to a corner by Belfield who wants “his day in court” again. The reason, I am supporting the Terrence Higgins Trust, and not an anti stalking charity, is because the Terrence Higgins Trust is the charity that helped and supported me, and one that I have continued to work for as a volunteer. My pledge to donate any recovered legal fees to them, is because they were the charity that saved my life when Belfield drove my to consider suicide. They are also the charity that helped me through the difficult time after Belfield cruelly revealed my HIV status in two of his videos. As I have said. That was the reason I instructed a solicitor. To have those videos removed from Belfield’s website. Had I simply wanted attention or to cash in, as you suggested, I would have put in a claim for defamation and begun making videos before and throughout Belfield’s trial, like he did. But I didn’t. Plus what has it got to do with you, who I intend to donate any money to. You have made it quite clear that you won’t be supporting or contributing to my crowd funder so you have absolutely no jurisdiction to argue about how I intend to pay forward the donations. Furthermore, why are you belittling me? What exactly have I done to deserve your interest and this attack from you? And also what are you talking about, of course I am going to use “I , Me ,My” because this is about me! I am not like Belfield who would bizarrely use “we” throughout his videos when he was sat by himself in his kitchen. This is my story. This is my video. It is about me. What don’t you understand?

Hmm, interesting. Mr Webb has expressed a range of opinions about Mr Belfield and about the trial and sentence that clearly demonstrate he does not know or understand how the law works. The problem as such, is that none of the people involved knew or understood the law before the trial. And Mr Belfield learned the hard way that the law as worked upon defendants in practice has many shortcomings. Mr Belfield thought he did know how the law worked of course, and was fool enough to keep saying that he wanted his day in court in front of a judge. Most unwise indeed. None of the complainants had the first clue about the law. Some claiming that Mr Belfield had been harassing them for ten years. That in itself demonstrates a woeful lack of knowledge about the law and the remedies available. Then there is the law that was use to get Mr Belfield convicted. You really ought to study the history of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. It isn't a good one. It won't make you happy. It reveals most of the major flaws with the entire legal system. Badly written and framed, abused by the police as a means to meet targets by scattering PIN/Harassments notices like confetti, and abysmally bad in practice for protecting women from stalker ex-partners. And no, that law was never intended to be used to crush self confessed internet gobshites such as Mr Belfield. The whole saga is a sorry mess. Belfield could have been guided away from his misbehaviour by much less intrusive means much earlier, and those that Mr Belfield had gripes against for publishing material he found obnoxious could themselves have avoided most if not all of his public vengeance and humiliation of them. Everyone lost. Especially the public. What a waste of money.
@iamthat Жыл бұрын
I entirely agree with everything you have said, and thank you for such a valid and detailed response. I ultimately agree, it pains me how much money was wasted on police support and the entire trial. Belfield ultimately was only ordered to pay £10,000 towards the court costs, and refused to represent himself, (despite have the means and money to do so) he then wasted more tax payers money by needing a barrister to be appointed on his behalf for our special measures. The barrister then stayed on to help Belfield until he was sentenced. Belfield had such a huge reach and could have really done a lot of good with his channel, but got bogged down with his vendetta against the BBC because let go of him a decade ago. Had he still been working for them, I doubt he would have an issue with the BBC and would have quite happily kept cashing their pay checks. He was just incredibly disgruntled. Unfortunately the law is out dated when it comes to social media and platforms like KZbin and twitter don’t need to accept accountability because they are protected by the notice of “free speech”. Which ultimately Belfield manipulated to his own gain. Blackbelt Barrister did a brilliant video about the nature of harassment, and the code of conduct, which I understand a little bit about. It basically says that harassment can take the form of someone pursuing a cause of action, unless that action is in pursuit of trying to resolve something that’s been taken against you. Now on my case, Belfield believed that I had posted libel comments about him on my website. So in his opinion he was entitled to continue to pursue this, and was therefore allowed to keep emailing and messaging me, which led to him phoning my mum, and him investigating me. But he got carried away, and the more he felt he was entitled and within his rights, and the more he refused to back down. Ultimately what he should have done was to actually report me to the police or instruct a solicitor to take legal action, but he didn’t. Which suggests to me, he knew he did not have a case. The judge even ruled that Belfield was mistaken in what he thought I had written. This could have all been avoided had he accepted and recognised that he was wrong. But even now, in prison, he is still writing to people maintaining the defence he has given throughout this, despite a jury and judge sentencing him to the contrary.
@blindjusticeandcommonsense2786 Жыл бұрын
@@iamthat You are edging towards understanding but you are not quite there. Mr Belfield did mount a full defence in court according to the requirements of the law. He literally did represent himself. What would he have got from paying a barrister? He still would have lost because of the way the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 is framed and written. It is ridiculously easy to make out 2A and 4A offences. Which is why it is all the more galling that the Act is not properly used to protect women from ex-parters. To the point where nothing is put in place to stop them being murdered. You are right that Mr Belfield ought to have either sought remedy through injunction (county court) or criminal prosecution. You are half right about why he continued on at you. As time went on Mr Belfield was learning to take a jaundiced view of how the system works in practice. Seeking an injunction costs money. The police do not always take up and act on complaints. The elephant in the room here is that the system is so broken and worthless that it might have been a better option for any of the parties involved (with the obvious exception) to have resorted to going round and dealing with the matter in person. Yes, that is a viable option. There are plenty of people who do not, and will not, have anything to do with the law and deal with all their disagreements forcefully. That KZbin barrister chap, who has on more than one occasion demonstrated his own incompetence, won't be telling you that. Not in his interests to do so. You do seem to have begun to look at all this away from your own perspective and away from the trap of your own emotions. If you put yourself in the position of the defendant (in general) and work everything through from their perspective you will learn a great deal. And you will recognised how Mr Belfield is trapped within his own emotional vortex just as all the complainants are. Everyone loses. He's lost the most. And he won't be coming out of prison in any way reformed. He will just resent the system and the harm done to him by it. He has reason to even with all his faults and wrongs. He has gained something though. He now knows that prison isn't that bad and he can survive it and do okay inside. Not a great or satisfying outcome all around is it? Everyone loses.

Tad harsh? You’re a tad wrong. You clearly don’t know or understand the full case. Alex Belfield was guilty of multiple crimes against multiple people, including defamation, fraud, harassment and blackmail as well as stalking many people over a ten year period. His crimes were extensive. In our case. Where there were eight complainants, Belfield was found not guilty of four, and then found guilty of two counts of aggravated stalking (with a penalty of 2 years 6 months imprisonment) and two counts of simple stalking (with a penalty of 13 weeks imprisonment). Had Belfield been found guilty of all eight counts. His total sentence would have been 20 years. So, your argument is incorrect. Had Belfield not stalked multiple people, he would not received such a long sentence. It’s also worth noting that Belfield appealed his sentence and lost. It was therefore considered fair. Please stop saying his sentence was too long, it’s hugely disrespectful to all the victims including myself who continue to suffer because of his actions.

I can't quite decide if Webb is 1. A blatant liar or 2. Genuinely think. I suspect a mixture of both. He contradicts himself on a daily basis. Moreover, when his demonstrably false claims are pointed out to him, he plays the victim. He used a report by The Royal Society recently to 'evidence' his totally unsubstantiated claims about man-made change (despite the work saying nothing of the sort.) This week, The RS published its report on the efficacy of mask-wearing during Covid. It was "unequivocal" in its findings that they'd reduced the spread of this disease which obliterates Webb's drivel on the matter.

History Debunked is neither a historian or a journalist in my opinion. His history stuff is seriously badly researched and sometimes fiction. The clue is probably in his name History Debunked. Basically anything we know that doesn’t fit with his far-right and often racist agenda is to be “debunked”. I’d be curious to know what his actual credentials are, as I suspect they don’t really give him any grounds to be called a historian. So I will also take from it he has the same approach to the claims of “journalism”. There really needs to be a channel called History Debunked Debunked 😆 7:30 This defamation red herring put about by people like him is just a way of trying to gaslight the victims. It is trying to say that you’re not a victim really if you seek compensation. But victims have been defamed, eg they have been put at a disadvantage due to lies that Belfield has said. His punishment for his crimes doesn’t compensate for the lies that are still out there and the damage he has done. That’s just punishment for breaking the law, asides from a feeling of relief, the victim gets nothing that puts them in the position they were at before Belfield stalked them. So (also baring in mind he made money out of these lies), the least his victims are entitled to is compensation. And that doesn’t even put the victims back on level terms because lies stick, as we see from vids by people like History Debunked. So compensation is nothing, it’s the very least our legal system can do for what the victims have gone through and have to spend the rest of their lives correcting about the lies told about them. 11:10 The obvious stand out thing is that he can say this without any irony that he hasn’t brought up the very dubious reasons AB gave for fund raising for his court cause “against the BBC”, and the myriad of questions including representing himself that have come from it, which really deserves an investigation in its self. Yet he has the audacity to laugh and mock his victims needing to raise money because they didn’t make loads of money on KZbin built off of lying and stalking.
@iamthat Жыл бұрын
I haven’t watched any of his other videos. But I feel I would agree. The problem with talking about historical events. These are often in the past with no way to verify any claims. But when he’s talking about something recent, like my court case, and I’m still here, to other my side of the story, I feel it’s even more important to do the research and offer an accurate account, which he hasn’t. Yet, he has a huge audience and people like what he puts out there. I guess people prefer fiction
@Toxic-Ology Жыл бұрын
I’ve updated the comments as I’ve been watching with a few time stamps that might be interesting. It’s one of those frustrating situations where what he’s said doesn’t even deserve dignifying with a response because it is so ridiculous what he says, but at the same time needs putting right. And you’ve done that really well. One thing I will say is, much as in the same way as Belfield does, don’t let him gaslight you into thinking that any of your actions and what you say is anything other than totally justified. These types of people always try to invalidate people, but don’t give them an inch. You are right, you didn’t ask for all of this and I will say that anyone who can’t see it, is probably of a similar mind of Belfield so if they have issues with what you are saying or doing, it’s just a really good indication that you are 100% in the right.

@@Toxic-Ology thank you, I really do appreciate this message, and really needed to hear this. The whole ordeal was horrific, but even now facing continued scrutiny and persecution from people who want to victim shaming is incredibly difficult. I want nothing more than to make this go away. And tried to, I was even prepared to settle for minimal damages and sign a confidentiality agreement which would have protected Belfield, just so that I could walk away from this, but Belfield wouldn’t even give me that. He’s still in prison writing to people, maintaining his stance that he did nothing wrong and that is was all a cover up. He will never stop, and it worries me what he will be like and what he does when he comes out of prison, because he won’t have changed.
@Toxic-Ology Жыл бұрын
@@iamthat What you’ve said is exactly what they rely on, and that’s why I have a zero tolerance approach (it’s difficult I know). People like Belfield and those who STILL follow him don’t see things from the point of view of most decent people do. He merely saw your attempts to put an end to it as a sign of weakness, and that’s why in a strange way it’s a good thing his ego wouldn’t let him agree to something that would be great to him but a huge injustice to you and any other victims of people like him. People like him only stop doing the things they do when they get losses of freedom and money and credibility. You almost offered him a way out, so in a way, even though it is a much harder road (which is usually a good indication you’re doing the right thing), use those support networks you have to ensure you get the funds to win in court. Because believe it or not, people like him DO experience fear. The problem is that all too often they tend to get let off of the hook, so that reinforces their belief they can carry on and things will work out for them in the end without having to change their behaviour. With people like him I take a zero tolerance approach because that’s all they understand. Just based on what you said in your last comment any decent person would feel compelled to contribute towards the legal fees. And although I think you deserve every penny when you win (you will because if AB does the talking he will accidentally admit to everything he’s done because he thinks he should be able to do what he wants), you could always donate something to raise awareness of the impacts of this type of abuse which is actually a lot more common than people think, and help victims be able to learn how to combat it (I’m not actually sure anything exists, but it needs to). So there’s a chance to do a lot of good here on a wider scale. And maybe if it makes you feel uncomfortable going through this for your own justice. Perhaps having some other target like that to focus on might help a little. Anyway all the best whatever you do. 😊 Oh and deffo raise the money for lawyers etc because an important part is being able to waste as little of your own time over it as possible. Dump everything you’ve got in the hands of a lawyer and fill the rest of your time doing things you love and surrounded by the people you love.

I like Simon. But it’s such a complicated case. And I am worried for you when Alex comes out. Because Alex acted very strangely when he got charged and when he got convicted. Doing massive shows, going on fancy holidays, being somewhat upbeat and doing court reporting on his own case. Most normal people would have broken down over the serious of the situation. So see why you want to do this case now, even though my first reaction would be similar to Simons. Think I will donate on payday. Also he will not be allowed to do his KZbin until his licence has expired

Yes you can Challenge that, just because a jury finds him guilty doesn't mean the judge was correct in his summing of the case. Their were a good deal of interested parties wishing for his silence . The BBC , The government , past enemies of Belfield. Something smells bad about this case and should be invested .
@iamthat Жыл бұрын
This was never about silencing Belfield or stopping him from making videos on KZbin. The judge even allowed him to continue to make videos throughout his trial, despite the impact this had on the victims and our families. Not to mention that Belfield profited and made money from these videos during his trial. Belfield was charged and found guilty of stalking two people who didn’t work for the BBC, or the government nor were we past enemies or even knew Belfield before he began harassing us. I made my complaint against Belfield to stop him harassing me and my family, not to silence him. If he has just stuck to making videos he would not be in jail now. He crossed the line by finding out where my family and I lived, contacting my family, and then investigating and digging up information about me from my past to black mail me with. That is why he was charged with stalking. That is why a jury found him guilty of stalking, and that is why he is in prison for stalking. It is not some huge conspiracy or cover up. Belfield really wasn’t that important or influential. He was a criminal. The judge even said specifically: “I am not imposing sentences on you because you made comments about the BBC or about matters of public interest. Your sentences reflect your repeated and personal harassment of the victims and not your views on any issue of public interest. You are entitled to hold and express views but you are not entitled to destroy the personal lives of your victims through online harassment”.

It’s been hard. But all I can do is get on with my life, and appreciate my freedom. I took a holiday to Poland and visited Auschwitz and was reminded of the atrocities that happened there because of persecution. I’m very grateful for my life and freedom, and proud of who I am, and why I stood up for myself and continue to. Now that my barrister has been paid, I’m hoping the matter will be resolved swiftly so that I can finally move on. Thank you for your message and your kindness.

I've not paid much attention to either for a couple of years, but neither are remotely right wing which is actually a nonsense slur term anyway. What is branded far right would have been the default standard position of pretty much everyone worldwide not that long ago. Far Right is used to describe people with traditional, healthy, self autonomous, non-globalist, pro-nation, pro-indigenous genetics, culture, pro-family and so on.

Is this guy kidding? I mean how dare someone make judgments, assessments or theorise about a public figure who crashed and burned so spectacularly. He takes issue with Simon webbs portrayal of him BUT he'd be only too happy to have him interview him to clear things up 😂. Yha if I was Simon Webb I might have an issue opening direct conversations with a man who was charged with stalking 12 employees at BBC, hey Alex come on over let's hang. Come now Alex, don't be sore, The world already knows, Who's a M€[)IA ₩H○R€!

people making videos have no obligation to talk to you to get your side of the story - they don't have to do research if they don't want to. they're giving their opinions - if everyone had to fully research a topic before discussing it the majority of commentary videos on KZbin would be removed. the law already has more than enough protections for our collective "safety" and we don't need more of them. I saw Simon's video that mentioned you and mostly agreed with him (as i usually do with all his videos) - i know almost nothing about all the people who were victims of AB but i still have opinions about AB sentencing etc. they might have changed a little listening to this video and may change again if i learn more about this whole situation.

@@iamthat Belfield threatened to sue Simon Webb on Twitter if he didn’t take down a video that Webb had made about him. I remember reading the tweet. Belfield may also have made a video about it too.
